  1. All the guides charge about the same, you may pick up a discount off season but not during peak time.. Call Pete Wenners ,Eric Olliverson , Bill Babler or Bill Beck..
  2. what part of the lake ? If I were doing it that time of year I would be dragging a shaky head ,it's probably the easiest to fish up hill. Or the ned rig. A jig is never a bad idea either.
  3. I usually use a speed craw on finesse jigs..
  4. A football jig is always a good idea here.. April may still have a RK crawler and wart bite. .I wouldn't be in the boat without a shakey head and a ned tied on..
  5. When it comes to jerkbait rods it's hard to beat Falcon.. I fish the Mcclelland signature and the weightless worm the most.. The jerkbait special is also a good choice . I usually throw the 110, Mcsick , and pointer..
  6. I got a several spools of vicious free from them several years ago.. Fished the 10 and 12 lb. on my jig and plastics rods. I never had any issues with it either. It's not as manageable as invisx or sniper . I never use any kind of conditioner.
  7. I recently came across a old Tour Edition crankbait rod. ..It's a glass blank , made in USA .. I would guess it has to be 20 years old or so...It thows a wiggle wart and Bandit 300 really nice.. Anyone know what blank this is ? Maybe a Lamiglas or Seeker ?
  8. Of those 3 I would go with the E6X in the 843..Great all purpose rod for jigs, plastics, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and soft jerkbaits... Also throw larger walking baits like the spook and vixen if you don't mind the length. I've used the 783/843 a bunch over the years in IMX and GLX.. A classic versatile rod... I'd recommend calling American Legacy..
  9. The fact that BPS is bringing in Lew's is fairly old news around here. Probably because Lew's headquarters and BPS are so close to each other.. I have seen the BPS catalog pages with Lew's in them...Surprising but true.
  10. BPS is going to start selling Lews... They will be in the 2016 catalog.
  11. I've had 12lb Assassin on 3 of my jig rods for a couple months now.. I don't think it handles quite as well as sniper and it's a bit larger in diameter but overall it's good...Getting 225yds on the spool vs 200 for sniper, plus being a little cheaper to start with make it a good value.. The stretch feels about the same as Sniper to me.
  12. I'm always skeptical when it comes to duplicating the wart...It's been tried before. . Brads, the wart hog, g5, predator ect. Fortunately I still have a dozen or so pre-Rapala warts . With the prices they bring here on the White River chain ,I would say there's a market for them....if they run and sound like the pre rapalas.
  13. I just saw a Email from American Legacy.. They have a 48 hour sale on Loomis rods. .. 25% off is good deal on current models... I'd like a NRX 803..
  14. You could get by fine with that.. I personally take 4 or 5 in the boat with me, but which ones depends on what the boater is doing., You will have a better Idea after the pre tournament meeting what baits you will be using most...
  15. Jewel Eakins and Jakked also makes a really nice finesse jig.. I use green pumpkin and PBJ the most.
  16. The Cara swim jig is a really versatile rod and would be fine.. I usually throw 3/8 oz. heads on the Amistad.
  17. I've fished the DSR820 a bunch... It's a nice dropshot / ned rig rod...wouldn't be my first choice for a stickbait rod...
  18. I have 2 Houston made Allstars, A bcm6 and a Zell Rowland TWS.. Both say Houston TX. under the logo. They have a charcoal colored blank with maroon wraps.
  19. I think that's 2 different rods. For a drop shot I would lean toward a ml spinning rod with 6lb. line. For stickbaits, a M or MH casting rod with 10 or 12 lb. line. In a pinch a M power spinning rod would work for both ,but I don't think it's ideal for either.
  20. I'd stick with the Keitechs and swimmin fluke jr's...I don't lose as many A-Rigs since I went to a thinner wire ball head.. Just get right over the top of it, give it a pull and hope for the best...I think the performance of the Keitechs is worth the cost..
