  1. I've been looking for an aluminum river jon with a jet and people selling them on the 2ndary market must think they are made of gold. There are 2002-2005 rigs with 60/40 jets on them that they are asking about what a new one went for about 4 years ago. It's crazy right now.
  2. Take a look at the price of aluminum on the commodities listings. Prices have over doubled since June of 2020.
  3. 3/0 seems big for a 2.5" tube. I use 3/0 and 4/0 on 4.5" tubes and the 3/0 comes out inside the body of the tube about 1/2" above the tendrils and the 4/0 comes out right at the tendrils.
  4. Probably has something to do with 5G networks or something conspiracy theory-like.
  5. Here's a great video on why there are so many misses when fishing frogs:
  6. Oil change and lower unit oil change once a year, new water pump every 2 years (maybe every year if you run dirty water)
  7. $400-450 for your first fishing rod and reel. Can I have some of that money tree? There's lots of good starting rig that will cost a lot less than that. Could get a really nice casting rod and reel AND a nice spinning rod and reel for that price, and it'll cover 90% of the baits you'll need to catch both small mouth and largemouth.
  8. I don't use them, but from what I've seen one blade spins one way and the other the opposite way. Makes them track straight. I'm sure they don't cast well as a single blade buzzbait doesn't usually cast well.
  9. I wasn't impressed with how pike fought after a couple runs from the boat. I caught some in the mid 30" range in Canada a couple years ago and they were more heavy than anything. When they saw the boat they'd take off like a bat out of heck, but after a couple of those they were pretty easy to just drag back to the boat. Of course I was using 40lb braid and I was using med-heavy rods, so that makes a difference.
  10. I think that you have to take into account that black bass range in the US is only about 80% of the US, so people in the 20% where bass don't live probably aren't bass fishermen. I bet that only about 10-15% of fishermen in the US solely target bass during a majority of their fishing time.
  11. I don't have the casting version but I have the spinning version and I really like it a lot. It's the rod that made me want Winn Grips on all my future rods. Feel of the rod is really nice too.
  12. I told my wife my boss made me feel like a dog because I had a ruff day at work Here's a non-dad joke: A St. Louis Cardinals fan, a Kansas City Royals fan, and a Chicago Cubs fan were taking a hike in the mountains together when they came upon a tall cliff overlooking a beautiful valley. The Royals fan remarked, "I love my baseball team so much I'm going to jump off this cliff to show my loyalty to my team!!", and he jumped to his death. The Cardinals fan and Cubs fan looked at each other in amazement that someone would do something such as that to show their loyalty to their baseball team. The Cubs fan said, "Holy cow (in his best Harry Carry voice of course), that guy is nuts to do that!" The Cardinals fan agreed and said, "This is what I'm going to do to show my loyalty to my baseball team," and pushed the Cubs fan off the cliff to his death.
  13. I just use a snap, but then again I use a snap (without swivel) for everything. Some people tie a loop knot like a Perfection loop (look it up on youtube) so they get more action out of their topwaters.
  14. Tank raised bass that was fed a lot of feeder guppies and then released. Looks too unreal to not be photoshopped. Would have liked to see a video of it. I would think there would have been other bass with a similar defect that have been caught but I'm not seeing any other pictures posted on the interwebs similar to that one.
  15. Ever see people noodling for catfish? They practically stick their arm down a big catfish's throat.
  16. I was working at what was Harrah's Casino in St Louis. I was on a 4am-noon shift and was a normal day in the middle of my shift when one of my co-workers came over the radio and said, "What the heck is going on? A plane just crashed into the WTC". We all ran up to our shop and couldn't get on CNN or any other news website because the traffic was so high so we went out to the casino floor to some of the TVs and changed the channel to a news station. Watched for a while, thinking it was just an accident like the news stations were thinking also. Then the 2nd plane hit and lots of curse words were said by some of my co-workers and then we knew the first plane wasn't an accident. By then all the TVs in the casino were showing some sort of coverage of the attacks. I remember asking myself, "What is the date today?" and then asking over the radio, saying it was 9/11 and that had some sort of significance to what had happened. To my amazement, and still to this day it amazes me, there were people in the casino gambling, totally oblivious to what was happening, and they didn't care one bit.
  17. My trailers usually have some sort of match with a contrast color in them. Like if my jig is green pumpkin I'll put an Alabama craw or Junebug on the trailer. Something with two colors in it.
  18. They are schooling fish and they are aggressive and want to take the food other fish have, so when they try and the bait they have in their mouth has multiple hooks there's a good possibility of a double.
  19. Half acre isn't all that big of a pond but it should support some decent bass. Especially with the forage you say is in it. Just give it some time. My inlaws bought a property with a pond in 2015 (although it's bigger at about 4 acres) and it didn't have many bass in it at the time. It also had a bad weed problem that almost completely choked it out in the summer time. They put some grass carp in it and stocked it with a couple dozen 6" bass. It also has a huge green sunfish population, and a really good bluegill population. It has a ton of frogs too, and with that a lot of tadpoles in the spring. Lots of forage like that and a couple years gone past has produced a thriving population of bass that average about 2 1/2lbs and have gotten as large as 5 1/2lbs. I'd give your 10 relocated bass a couple of years to stabilize and make some baby bass and you should have a fun little pond. As others have said, sink some trees or make some 5 gallon bucket PVC bushes to throw in for fish attractors.
  20. I'll have to agree with that. Clear liquor seems to always make my head hurt the next day. Brown is the way to go for me.
  21. I have an older AB Ambassador my dad handed down to me I have spooled up with some 50lb braid but I've never used it.
  22. My wife caught her biggest bass on a Ned (6lb 10oz), and I hooked probably the biggest bass I've ever had on my line with a Ned (shook his head as I tried to net it and off it went, probably would have went 7-8lbs). Big bass like little snacks that are easy to eat I guess.
  23. Actually I forgot they did come out with a small one. They call it the Ned-Mite. 3.5" long.
