Which Bearings Are The Best?
I followed Mr. Swim Jig's instruction and cleaned out the stock bearings of two Citica Gs and put a bit of reel oil. After I was almost done with it, I wasn't sure if I soaked long enough. I did about 30 minutes each on both Acetone and alcohol. Was that enough? I meant to do the spin test before and after. But I didn't loosen up the break all the way, so I do not have the base data to compare. However I now realize those video showing off the length of free spooling is without break and it does not mirror how it will be on the water. Tomorrow I go out fishing, so will see what difference cleaning made.

West Or East
When I asked this question, I was only thinking about now, but you're right, I do do opposite in other seasons when warm is good.

Shimano Citica Or Lews Speed Spool
Is this advertised somewhere? Or is it more like store special that you don't see until you go there / call them?

Shore Fisherman & Fisherwomen
Good point. I just want to point out that the lower frequency sound travels more than high frequecy sounds. So if you must talk, you want to be a woman or talking to one. On serious note, the sound on the air does not go into the water as much, as long as it is not very loud or very low frequecy. Have you been at the swining pool where lots of people talking, but once you dive into the water, you have this very silent world? It is like that. The sound made by stomping the ground, kicking the rock etc does go into the water, because the ground is directly touching the water. One time I was fishing and I heared this loud music with lots of base coming from a mile away. I thought to myself "dumb wakeboarders". Only to find this was a old guy on a bass boat. Go figure.

Which Bearings Are The Best?
Thanks, Mr. Swim Jig, I'll give this a shot first.

Which Bearings Are The Best?
Ok, so I just watched a youtube video of how to replace spool bearing on Citica. I know some of you say do the other stuff first, but I am very curious because on this video the difference between the original and boca (orange one) were huge. I understand the orange boca are sealed ones. I also read somewhere the open ones are better. What are the choices I have and what are the pros and cons of different type of bearings?

Slit On The Back Of Plastic
I totally get why they have slit on the bottom side of the hollow berry swimbaits. But I do not understand why some of them, like, KVD Perfect Plastic Swim'n Caffeine Shad, have them on the back. Why do they do that? I actually find this is very annying that when I t-rig with point buried, hook point tent to come out easily, or back of the bait not being straight. Do you guys find this slit on the back usuful?

Thumbing A Baitcaster Or Not
+1. Very loose breaks. Thumbing all the way.

M Or Mh For Finesse Spinning Application
I am not sure if you have this options, but one posibility is to go longer rod with MH. Longer rod can handle lighter weight better. I am not sure exact set up you have, but something is not right if you dont' feel a hit with c-rig. I suspect it is not the rod. The weight is not pined to the line, so when fish bites, your line should be free to move and transffer that signal to you.

Customizing Reels
Please educate me here...why professional clean & lub with stock bearings is #1? And why spool bearing upgrage is #3? I thought upgrading the spool bearing was the clear #1 choice. Edit: Never mind I found a thread about this: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/99316-help-me-understand-super-tuning/?hl=%2Bsuper+%2Btunning#entry1093839

Is Weedless Really Weedless
'NEVER'? I guess a bit of weed on the lure is not really an issue, you just take them off and keep fishing, is that what you mean?

Customizing Reels
Like SirSnookalot, All my reels are stock. However, I am bit interested in spool bearing upgrade. I have always been wondering how much of difference that upgrade will make in casting distance. I came across bearing + drag upgrade parts combo for a bit over $20 on eBay. That's cheep enought to just try out. I'm currently search of DIY instruction on how to change the spool bearings...(Citica G)

Daiwa Ballistic
I got one in H, the frog rod. I feel Daiwa rods are a tad stiffer than Shimano's for the same ratings. If your main lure is 3/8 oz, and if they are trully 3/8oz, that's more like 1/2 oz with trailer and everthing. Probably ok with either one, buy maybe MH is safer bet? When I add a rod, I usually think about what I already have and go from there.

West Or East
In the early morning, I usually start fishing from the east bank if everything else is equal. My theory is fish might stay in their morning mood longer on east bank than west bank because of shads created by trees and rocks. I was wondering if folks think the same way or it is just me.

Topwater Bass Fishing With The Zara Spook
Nice video indeed. I like the parts you used zoom and slow motion so that you can see the attempts by animals. I never used spook other than full version, but I probably give a try on smaller ones.

How To Fish Muddy/stained Water?
I'm also interested to hear what others say about this kind of condition. When chocolate milk happens in my local lakes, it is usually winter or early spring times here. And fishing becomes very very bad and I had no luck in this kind of conditions, even with something noisy, shinny, bright/dark colors.

Willfully Destroyed My Best Lure To Save A Fish
I destroy my lures to save fish. But they are plastics, hooks and jigs, not very expensive anyhow. Today I cut a hook of a jig head, because this one had two steel wire weed guard which prohibited me to turn the hook enough to unhook.

Bank Fishing..
You are fine, but If where you are mostly fishing at small fish waters, it might be easier to fish with spinning set up. It is just easier to go go 'small' with spinning, like 4" senko, grubs or small dropshot stuff. You can do these with BC with MH rod no problem (I actually do myself), but spinning set up might be easier, especially when you are just starting. I have my daughter use spinning set up because I want them to be able to concentrate on fishing than equipment. I say try out with what you have first and see.

Do Bass Mouths Heal?
When they bite on the head of a jig, they feel the pressure like they bit a piece of rock(?)

Good Lures
Not sure how much of water there is under those weeds, but If the mood of fish is right, I would buy a frog to toss. Or toss one of your plastic with either no weight to use as 'semi-top water' or use heavy weight to punch through the weeds. Either way I would be thinking bout heavy equipment like H action rod and 65 lbs braid, so that I can get the fish out if I hook one.

Making A Change In Line.
I use high vis yellow mostly straight, except when the water is really clear (then I add a fluoro leader). I run black sharpy for the length of the rod. After a couple of times on the water, the black fade a bit and becomes bit grayish greenish. I seems to be doing okay.

Fishing Camera
I just got this one. http://shop.panasonic.com/shop/model/HX-WA03H It should be here tomorrow. I used to have something very similar to this from Sanyo, untill I dropped it in the water a couple of months ago. This one is waterproof, freezproof and dustproof as well. I like this style because I can flip the monitor to see before I take picture. I don't have to second guess if all of my fish are in the picture with me or not. Plus I use for family use. Edit: After reading the topic again, I guess OP was interested in go-pro style but cheaper...so never mind.

Just 3 Poles, What Do You Take?
Funny you should ask...because I have been doing exactly that for the past month or two to bring back focus to my fishing. I am taking these three the most of the time: 1. M spinning rod 7'6" (for all small baits) 2. MH casting rod 7'4" (my workhouse set up) 3. H casting rod 7'2" (for for heavy vegetation) All three has pretty wide range and overlap, so often times I have similar baits on more than one rod.

What Am I Doing Wrong (Senko)
Are you using a O-ring? I don't do wacky much, but I use a small rubber band for hair from CSV instead of buying o-ring from fishing shop, which is enough for me. Some use shirnk-tube.
