SnakeheadWhisperere, what is 'icky stick'? Is that something to piece through the fish or something?

There is a Chinese marketer near my place. They have a huge fish tank in the fish meat section. They have probably 50-100 bass swimming in there. So I bet some Chinese dish consists of bass. I don't keep bass, but I'm prepared to keep if the fish is injured. (This thread made me thinking though.) mvorbodt, what's the humane way to kill a bass?

Anyone use snell with flouro? Any failing?

I thought that was just regular snell. What part is modified?

I do the same thing as Comfortably Numb. Colder water = longer leader. My reasoning is when fish are less aggressive, I don't want them to feel the weight too quickly after they pick up the bait. But what do I know, I am just a weekend fisherman.

Right now I am dropshotting these guys. In warmer months, I only use them as trailer.

Nice! Is the second one from the top on the right a Jitter Bug also? I've never seen one with skinny tail section like that.

I fish a place where the water temp is about 48ish right now with some vegetation (green) on the bottom. What I am doing okay with is drop shot single tail grub. I do not want to do jig head or t-rig, because I want to keep the bait where fish can easily see when I am not moving the bait. Cast out, move a foot, pause and deadstick or twitch. Repeat. Hope this helps.

Daiwa Silver Cast Spin Cast. I had a old casting rod that I wanted my daughter to use. So I figured "buya spincast reel and she'll have fun". WRONG! The line gets stuck often in mid air and lure makes a big splash. This was such a horrible reel. My mistake was that I thought I put too much line or something, so I didn't think about returning this back to the store right away. Even if I had brought back to the store right away, I am not sure if they would have taken it back, because it does not get stuck if you just have the reel on your hand. Right now It has very close to the smallest diameter line printed on the reel. With that the problem seems to be less frequent. But it is basically collecting the dust. Wasted $30.

Thanks for the article. I was wondering about this as well, since I have two Citica G7. I have no complaints about them. I paid about $90 shipped, both bought new on eBay.

Not a top water, but I had a jig chased (not eaten) by a big water bird (Pelican?) I was working my jig, and just when I was about to pick it up by my feet, I saw this huge thing following. It made a quick u-turn and I saw a bird. It look like a dinosaur bird flying under water. I jumped a couple of inches off the ground.

Ah makes sense. I never fished a tournament.

BTW, War Eagle 44, Kudos for you for having your fish on your lap to take the picture, in stead of putting it on the dirt. I bring a net with me even when I fish from bank to land bigger fish easier / safer and have some place to put a fish while unhooking, picture taking etc.

Why do you use different set ups for rec fishing and tournament? If you catch more/better fish with your tournament set up, why not use that all times?

I hook like that sometimes when I use shorter bait mainly to make sure the tail face the way I want it to face.

Yup, me to growing up fishing with Stren. It's been around for awhile therefore it is called "original". Never had problem like yours, or never heard of people complaining about the line like what you described. I still use it time to time and I got spare spinning spool with Stren original on it. I also love the clear blue florescent color.

I T-rig with VMC spingshot EWG with bait like Brush-hog or ringer, thrown with b/c set up. I used to use regular EWG before started with VMC spingshot EWG. I don't favor this over traditional, but I just use different way depending on how I want to present the type of bait I want to present.

Very interesting idea double hooking! I sometimes take too much time thinking which bait to use. This will cut that time
