Anyone Else See This Story: Man Sues Over Mustad $1M Challenge
If someone shows me his lure, I would call it a mini Alabama rig. I would not call it a spinerbait.

Will Braid Damage Rod And Reel?
In other words, older one might not have the insert? I never knew about this. I just checked my vintage Shimano rod (20+ years old). It does have gray colored insert. I started using braid last year on this and it passed the q-tip test. I also find braid much easier to untangle after backlash. Make sure to peel the mess before yanking or reeling any more. I'm on braid for a bit over year, I don't even remember if there was a time I have to cut the line because of backlash. I use Power Pro also. I did break my rod with braid thou. That was the line was wrapped around the tip and when I did full swing, the tip broke off. But that's really a user error.

How Many Of You Dont Eat Fish?
I grew up eating fish daily basis almost, so not eating fish makes me feel guilty as the same way as not eating my vegetable. However, because of my limited cooking skill (how you cook makes huge differences) and the limited fish selection at the local market, I don't eat daily now.

Anyone Else See This Story: Man Sues Over Mustad $1M Challenge
" White said spinnerbait lures are usually much larger than spreader bars. One example of spreader bar that White makes and sells is 48-inches wide with multiple lures attached to it. Spreader bars are typically a bar with a lure attached to it, in various configurations. Only one lure typically has the hook in it, White said. " Something sounds mixed up in this article when she quoted White. Anyhow, what is the reason behind spreader bars being illegal? And I wonder what the wording of the regulation regarding prohibition of the use of spreader bar.

"spybaiting"
So what exactly is the definition of spybaiting? Is that the slow rolling of bait bit off from the bottom? If so I do that with other baits like hollow berries.

Is There Ever A Time Senkos Won't Catch Fish?
My confession is that when I start smelling the skunk, I switch to senko. But I don't tell my friends. My senko fish are generally smaller.

New-To-Me Minn Kota Powerdrive
If there is no resistance in the wire or connection, you will not lose any power. But thing is there's not such wire or connector. They all have some. Anywhere you have resistance, your battery juice will turn into heat and you use your precious juice. The smaller gauge has bigger resistance. Low quality connection produce bigger resistance. Do this with quality otherwise I think your biggest risk is burning the wire or overheating the connector. I was told that if you go to places like West Marine, they have all you need for this kind of job.

Well It Happened To Me Finally.....hooked Past The Barb (No Pics)
Long time ago. I successfully dodge the lure flew my way. Only to find that lure ended up on my brother's cheek. It was so long ago and I forgot how we dealt with it. (I think he ended up going to ER) Reading this thread reminded me that I had a one first aid book that I need to finish.

Being Told Not To Fish Here
So is fishing from the bridge legal where you are? (Someone said illegal above and I have no idea. ) That seems to be the key to this issue. And even if you wouldn't sue, someone else might sue if you get injured there.

Tow Suv?
I'm wanting to buy my first real boat in a year range, give or take. I'm thinking 18 ft. Before that I want to have the tow vehicle lined up. I currently drive a mid size sedan. I am thinking of trading this to a suv, so that it can meet my daily needs and weekend needs. What are the some of the great SUV for towing? Is mid size SUV, like Explore or 4 Runner good enough? Other option would be to buy a truck like F-150 for towing purpose only. But this sounds too expensive as I don't have other needs for truck.

Texas Rigging Craws
I do different things and change my mind all the time. I was for straight shank with snell knot fun. But for the time being, I use lot of owner sled heads. When I first tried, I didn't like it because I am stuck with their choice of hook, but I started to liking the convenience of it and also the shape of the head. Also the bait is really locked in with the screw. I picked up something similar from gamakatsu (no screw), didn't like it at all. http://www.monstertackle.com/fishinglures/owner-sled-head.html

Which Snap Do You Use?
Hey Steve, good to see you here as well. Actually if I remember correctly, you are the one suggested speed clip to someone and that's how I got to know that product. For tie, I am currently using Pitzen knot. It is almost like San Diego, but without going through the bottom loop, so it is 0.5 sec faster. But I still like the idea of snapping it in. Hooligan, the fastach looks interesting. I have never seen anywhere before. Dave P, I think the cross lock is the solution for me. The nearest store don't carry that kind. It looks very weedless. This one from Kahara especially look good. http://www.***.com/Kahara_Cross_Lock_Snaps_10pk/descpage-KCLS.html (Difficult to tell the size on interenet)

Which Snap Do You Use?
I just saw other thread about use of snap on crank. I use a snap on many type of lures. if you are snap user also, which one do you use? I recently found Norman Speed Clip. I thought this was a great product. It turned out it wasn't good as I had hoped for. Because it is double wired product, it is very difficult to put if the eye of the hook/lure is small. I got the smallest one they have. And some cases it goes in, but it gets stuck in certain position. It doesn't work well with something like swimbait hook with bait keeper. I'll be going back to snaps. But I had them break on me before, so I am wondering if someone can recommend particular brands that worked for you. And I am looking for something as weedless as possible. Thanks bunch.

How Do You Eat Your Bass?
I never ate bass. I'm C&R guy, but I'm prepared to keep one if one die on me which hadn't happen yet. Well actually one died after I let go, but couldn't get to it. A couple of months ago one was bleeding a lot. I was never able to figure out where it was bleeding from, but it didn't appear to be from gill. I unhooked and let go. It swam away very fast. If it was floating or anything I was planning on keeping it. Anyhow, I live in a city that Chinese is actually majority (I think). They have a Chinese market and in there they have pretty large fish department. I go there time to time. They have tanks of live fish and they have bass in one of the tanks often. It says farm raised bass. They were all around 12 inch size. They must taste good. To me catfish taste bad. Taste like mud. Bass probably taste better depending on the environment they grew up.

Why Does Line Break On Cast?
Did you recovered the bait after this happened? I was wondering if your '3ft' is accurate or estimate. I sent bait flying a couple of times when I was bank fishing and caught the vegetation behind me on the back swing. I also have experience sending the bait flying when the line was wrapped around the tip of the rod. But with this, it would be a lot closer to the bait than 3ft. And finally one time the line wrapped around the rod tip happened to be 65 lbs braid. When I did the full swing with 1/2 oz jig, jig flew very very far. Along with it my rod tip went.

Great Soft-Plastics Rig!
How the bait moves / rests depends on the angle of your line and how slow fast you move the bait. If the line is more horizontal and you have long pause, then weight rests flat on the bottom and bait is not off the bottom. Nothing different from t-rigged bait. If your line is more vertical and/ or fishing like drop shot, then the bait is off from the bottom by the length of your weight. If the bait stay horizontal or vertical seems to also depend on how you move the bait. Hop or drag makes the difference I would think. The way I like to fish is throw, wait till it hit the bottom, small hops, wait and repeat. So I do not see big difference in action. (I tested this in shallow one time.) But if it works for your style, great, more power to you. However I had used modified version of this. Instead of split ring, I used a snap to attached the weight. With this I can change the weight on the fly which I thought was cool. However eventually I went back to t-rig for simplicity.

Brush Hogs/pigs
LC, I don't know if you've used the zoom's brush hog, but I am interested in knowing how this compares to the zoom's. Watermelon Red Flk looks like similar to the color I like the most from the zoom.

Creature Baits
I remember similar thread before. More people seems to like baby brush hogs but some like the regular one better, including me.

Does Getting Skunked Bother You?
If I get skunked, I usually feel that effect later that day after I come home. I'm tired, possibly from waking up early, but on the days I get skunked, I am tired and in bad mood. On the day I got a good fishing, I'm tired but nice tiredness, just like after a good exercise. I also noticed that I get mad when I try new body of water and get skunked. I tend to go back there until I get a fish or two. Sometimes this makes the situation worse by getting multiple skunks. Once I have good fishing on that water under my belt, then subsequent skunk bother me less.

I Did The Right Thing.
You already know this and we don't have to tell you this, but you did the right thing. You stood for what you believe in. Congrats on that! You should be proud of yourself. Once I came across a situation in special regulation area. It wasn't clear case as yours. I asked my local bass fishing forum what would you do question, so that I would be prepared for the next time. While I got several good advices and information such as to take time to talk to them, educate them if needed, and to find out more of what is going on, I was very surprised to see many people, too many IMHO, said they would just walk away pretend that they didn't see /hear anything. It was kinda sad so many fellow bass fishermen don't stand up. I now got DFG number on my cell so that I am ready to make a call if necessary. (I am not sure how their response would be thou.)

I Tried Drop Shot Fishing , How Do You Avoid Gut Hooked Fish?
Weight needs to be adjusted depending on the condition. Wind with rocking boat needs more weight so that you can feel the bait. I would suggest first you start off with heavier weight than you need to have solid feel of the bait. Once you get used to it, then start lighten up from there as you wish. Hope this helps.
