  1. It makes you think, who makes an 8 inch bass swim bait? Haha
  2. Oh yeah, is the line visibility close to that of fluoro? The bass in a pressured pond I fish won't even hit mono above 6 lb test on tough days.
  3. Thank diggy. I thought about invisx but never considered BPS. Sports authority huh? That's pretty cheap for 600yds..
  4. I just experimented with fluorocarbon line for the first time (segaur red label) and was unhappy with the amount of memory. i do use line conditioner as well. It isn't to the point that I can't fish with it, but I would like to have a few perks of fluoro (sensitivity and visibility) without the line management issues. Is yozuri a good medium? I Just need a few opinions so I don't throw money down the drain. Thanks guys.
  5. I see bass EVERY time I go to a certain pond attacking bass fry right up against the bank. It could be freshly spawned bluegill though, as they all hang out together in the shallows.
  6. I Saw something awesome the other day at a small 1 acre pond I frequent. I hooked a small, half lb bass close to the bank and as I was skiing him across the surface, like dink bass get reeled in, I saw a huge (8+ I'm guessing) break the surface and swallow the bass I had on my line. I was in disbelief as my line took off with my catch in the lunker's mouth. I let him run a second and tried to set the hook through my catch to no avail. I pulled the dink out of her mouth. Has this happened to any of you before? It has happened to me with caught bluegill but never a bass.
  7. Green pumpkin and junebug with chartreuse tip on both.
  8. My grandfather took me as a child a lot, but I never got serious about it until last spring. On a whim, I took one of his old rods and casted into a small creek after seeing a few fish one afternoon. I landed two small bass back to back. I've been soaking in everything from this site and have been hooked ever since.
  9. Thank you for the responses guys. I have a medium power spinning setup that I will use if fishing these techniques around any cover. So would 6lb test be about right for this rod?
  10. What presentations/techniques are best suited for this power rod? Just picked up one to use for drop shot, senkos and possibly shakeyheads. Would this power rod be suitable for these presentations? What other presentations would be ideal for this rod? Also, what lb test and type of line would you prefer for this set up?By the way it is a 7' 3" ethos spinning rod. Thanks for any advice and suggestions guys!
  11. Try again with green pumpkin and the tail dipped in JJ's chartreuse bud. It's a great sunfish imitator IMO.
  12. On a small pond I fish, I catch good bass all the time by throwing a fluke right on the edge of the inside weed line in the middle of spawning bluegill. I have also seen huge bass 5+ come up into a foot or less of water, in the same area described above, and smash these bedding bluegill.
  13. Yeah I'd try a new pond. Fishing that long and being skunked is tough.
  14. Yeah I hate using braid with senkos because of the lack of feel on slack line. I agree that you can't see your line where it enters the water on many occasions, but there have been many times that I have seenthe line jump all the way up near the rod tip.
  15. Also, braid doesn't typically have good slack line sensitivity in my experience.
  16. I own a few of the ethos rods and the sensitivity is waaay beyond the price point. I'd say that they are every bit as sensitive as my veritas and I have used both of them extensively.
  17. A rod longer than 7' can be very cumbersome if you are fishing from shore and have to deal with overhanging trees and such.
  18. I use a 3/0 offset worm hook for 5 in senkos
  19. Yeah the tips from ww2 is what I would have suggested as well. Now if the VMC wire guards would last more than a few fish..
  20. Ill take pics of mine and post it. It's very simple to make and I haven't had a fish die yet.
  21. Be careful with their chatterbaits. I've had their skirt attachment come unusable numerous times.
  22. I'm in east Dallas and know a few spots!
