  1. sucks that the fish now has a mouth full of hooks. try and land them as cleanly as possible, less stress on the fish means better fishing for every body. also be sure to check your line and knots frequently, good luck
  2. in California I saw the first three events I fished this year won on a-rigs. we can only have three hooks. makes you wonder if the people are actually using three hooks. I approve the move and would like to see it carry on to the club level as well. doubt its any more damaging to a fish the a crank bait or super spook. but I can see it by a fairness stand point. good fishing br.
  3. this is normal when you start frogn. they have to come through the cover to hit it unless its open water. if you cant see it set the hook. try to feel the fish. another tip is to work your rod a th 10-11 position this will force you to drop the rod before you set the hook. give it time every body has their own way
  4. classic.... great posts under the seasonal section
  5. three thoughts on stick baits, stiff enough rod to set the hook.. with out falling over. lol. texas rig push the hook through and pinch the tip in the back. or if the bites are light try wacky rig. I don't like to wait until they swim off with it, only cause I don't want them to swallow the hook. but all comments are great. prob small fish hitting your bait. you can all ways go smaller, 4in. bigger isn't all ways better. good luck
  6. I can put 70 plus hours in a 6 day work week. but the 10-12 hours on the water make it all worth while. just you vs the fish. bring it
  7. mines 5 now and he loves to ride in the boat. but when the fish stop bighting you got about 5 mins before hes done. great video. I just picked up some lighted practice poles at bps. seems to have fun playing with our cats. only run about 15.00
  8. I live at berryessa, if you like spots you can really hammer them in the winter and spring. weighed one in at a tournament in may close to 6lbs, thought I had a 10lb lmb. looked like a football. plenty of squawfish, haven't met any body that targets them. catch them on top waters fishing for bass. but they put up a good fight. slimy though. .. nice pics
  9. you got me... lol.
  10. seen falcon lake on tv a few times. looks awesome
  11. its pushing your best friend in the water to get your first bass over 5lb. lol..... maybe its the crack dust
  12. talking to my wife about where would be a good place to live outside of ca. I told he I don't mind all the bs. because within a hour I have clear lake, berryessa, delta, folsom and lake oraville. all great bass lakes. but every place she wouldn't mind living im a jerk because the fishing sucks. ok br. what would be the best state to live in for bass fishing. florida, texas , Alabama? im sure you would have to move south.
  13. just caught a 5lber in 35ft of water draggin a lv500. over a rock pile. felt like a mac truck when she hit.
  14. I almost all ways c and r, but while camping a few years ago I had roasted a large mouth over the camp fire with spicy bbq sauce. awesome .
  15. the tournament tips pages are a great read here on br, welcome and happy b day
  16. wait a bit, the bass pro jm combos or extreme combos are a great choice for the money, I think under 200 dollars. I have 4 or 5 that are 5 yrs old and never had a problem.
  17. try the p line copoly, wont break the bank, think you can get 300yrds for under 20 bucks at bass pro or tackle w. offers the best of both worlds. but fluro has a place in the boat. try not to lift the fish up by the line , easy way to break one off. always makes me feel bad that the hooks are stuck in them. treat them good today and enjoy great fishing later.
  18. thanks rm. I have used these so much the only visible markings are the paint. and thanks to everybody else ,marking the lines and counting the turns is so simple its genius. going to do it to all my reels this weekend and place some tape on the side with the gear ratio and line size.
  19. trying to use the rc freak on some 20ft rock piles. pain full at best
  20. hello eddie, welcome to br
  21. looking for help, I have about 10-12 shimano reels, citica and curado mostly from the late 90's to early 2000's. they have been well taken care of and work great. does any one know how to tell what gear ratio they are or how to find out. tried to use some to crank today and it was too much effort. would like to try and find out so I can match them up to my rods correctly. thanks to all the members on bass resource.
  22. dig the bass thumb... but there is always golf to fall back on.. lol
  23. all great advise, if its heavy I like to try a full size senko or lizard with a weighted ewg gamagatsu hook. 12-15lb fluro you can feel the branches and pop the bait over them,
  24. i have seen it thrown, the vmc hooks are great, but cant tell you if it improves your numbers or not
