  2. 1994 In late spring caught her on a zoom u tale worm 6" in pumpkinseed chartreuse she was maybe a pound but i was only 4 and i was elated
  3. When its really hot out i try to fish in the shade or along the shade line be it docks buildings tumps blowdowns
  4. Maybe the lake is overpopulated with turtles could explain the large bluegill bitten in half. snappers are voracious and eat whatever comes close to its mouth
  5. I have a lot of luck at tailrace dams fishing the largest size sassy shad in pearl or green back color on jig head
  6. Nice i lost one the other week trying to scoop her into the net she was maybe 17" and 2 1/2 lbs at least couldve fit a baseball in her mouth.. woyldve been a pb for me too
  7. Kayak would be good on the shoals but watch out for current it can be pretty swift at times
  8. In a tournament i fish one of the guys always in the money fishes around the part of the hooch around 6 flags and he's caught some 8-9# lm
  9. Why not find a guide? It would probably run around the same cost with the added benefit of an experienced angler to help get on some fish and maybe learn a new technique too.
  10. I throw all my spinnnerbaits on baitcasters mostly on mh 7' rods with 14-17 lb test never liked spinnerbaits on spinning gear for some reason it just doesn't feel right to me and i also don't throw any spinners that weigh less than 3/8 oz
  11. I can't find anything on it on the abu website but it looks pretty sweet
  12. I'm in west georgia and we too have been hammered by the constant rain.. numbers are down but I've been catching quite a few decent fish on crankbaits
  13. I do miss fish on frogs mainly when i first start throwing them because the strike is so violent i get excited but all these things i do to modify my frogs is mainly a confidence thing for me persoanlly
  14. Lou the hole is very small and i put it maybe 1/32 of an inch above the top of the legs I've not noticed it taking on more water than an ordinary frog it just ensures i squeeze more water and i think it helps air escape more quickly on the strike for a better hookup. or at least that's my theory. could just be a confidence thing for me also.. booyah pad crashers come with a drain hole similar to what i do straight outta the box. if you've got one you could see wat I'm talking about
  15. I like the stanley ribbit frogs. they are deadly when fished thru weeds and killed over open patches. I don't fish them as much now that I've gotten pretty connfident in the hollow belly frogs
  16. A few things i do to all my frogs before i fish them 1. Take pliers and bend hooks up maybe 1/16 of an inch for better hook ups but not so much the point will collect slop or trash on the surface. 2.trim the legs about 1/8 inch and trim one leg at a 45° angle to combat short strikes and help make it walk better 3. I take small worm rattles and add 1-2 for added attraction (i keep a few without rattles) 4. take a paper clip and straighten one end and heat then poke a hole centered between the legs to help drain water from the frog Doing these things have made my frog fishing much more fun and a lot easier. any body else do anything different to modify their frogs?
  17. Spro bronze eye popper frog in midnight walker or albino. or pad crasher from booyah they are surprisingly soft and durablewith really good hooks and a slightly smaller profile The kvd frog is ok but you have to tune the hooks a bit for better hook ups
  18. I think the srcret is not to force it they mainly wanna be just like their daddy
