IMO the veritas is overated. Like many I bought it based on the great reviews. Honestly I was unimpressed with it, specifically its sensitivity. I also own a carbonlite and a *** *** black. IMO nothing touches the *** black @ the 100 dollar price point. The fit, finish, balance all are very well done. Not to mention they have OUTSTANDING customer service. I would also rate the carbonlite higher than the veritas. First baitcasting rod I ever bought and its still one of my favs.

Depends on what you want! I have a gen 1 715 and the 78 heavy M1. If you're going to be fishing around heavy cover/structure get the m1. Otherwise the Recons are a great deal @ TW right now.

I believe Glenn demonstrates this in one of his movies. Rather than setting the hook, you just lift the rod up. I believe this has to do with the style of hook that is predominantly used when drop shotting. I have used his method with great success. I've never done a hard hookset with drop shot.

I'd grab a BPS Pro Qual / Carbonlite combo for about 160 and spend the rest on gear!

I've also been super curious about the klx. They seem to be an amazing value. I read some things regarding Kistler ideology and cs but it seems whatever the issues were have passed. Next rods on my list are the 13 *** service es and klx.

Yep. I went there yesterday. Its 1 glx or NRX and get a ci4/chronarch or 2 doybns champ or champ extreme and you get either chronarch or ci4. I was told it does not combine with the 20% otherwise I probably would have pulled the trigger.

Dont forget about the new M1s if you want something a little more stout.

Just ordered 5 of the square bills and 5 of the deep divers in addition to a bb-1 to throw em... lol

Want to catch a hog? I'd say Canyon. Its feast or famine there though. Sag has some good fish in it too. This state sure is tough to fish though.

Okuma Helios. Have 2 and LOVE EM! Cabelas had em for $149 to boot! After that I'm pretty fond of my Lew's Tourney Pro and my Zillions. (although the zillion might be a bit pricey unless you can find a good deal on a used one)

Yeah I saw a lot of ebay too sold by the company. Most reviews seem favorable. Ugh this black friday sale is going to be the death of me.

I've got diesels, veritas, bucoo, and the 13 fisihing *** black series. *** black is my fav by far. I've got a phenix recon and m1 on order I'll let ya know how those are! The *** *** series might be a good bet with the 20% off sales! Haven't read anythign negative about em yet and if finances allow I'll hopefully have one of them too.

I'd keep the loomis rods! If I had to downgrade though I still dont think anything is close to the *** *** black series... If I were to spend a little more I'd be looking @ the Phenix Recon/M1 series. Just ordered 1 of each with the TW sale. Might even order a *** *** too...

I think I'm going to order the 715 gen 2 recon and the 7'8" heavy M1. Recon will be my new jig rod and the m1 will be for any punching, flipping, heavy cover applications. I'm using a veritas as my jig rod right now and am honestly not that impressed. There is A LOT of good info in the rod forum at tackletour. Not sure if we're allowed to direct link other forums or I'd do so.

There's a great thread over @ TT discussing the new M1 and even has a comparison with the current Gen 1 Recons. FWIW I gather the M1 is the stouter rod and might be more true to its rating while the original gen 1 recons might be a little soft.

How heavy are you looking to go? Might also want to take a look @ the new M1s. Supposed to be similar sensitivity to the recon but more durable.

Got some of these in my last order. Seem to have a lot of potential, especially for the price!

What little information I could find seemed to be pretty similar to your results. I did see a video on youtube that demonstrated the difference and theer was an obvious one. Whether or not it makes a difference bass fishing is anyones guess.

Im one of those guys that thinks theres a fair bit of diminishing returns in fishing rods/reels after a certain dollar amount. For me thats been right around 200 dollars. That being said I really want to try a *** *** Black and the new Recon 2 and M1 rods by Phenix!

Did a search for 'tight lines uv' and very limited info came up. Anyone use these? Is this just a gimmick or is there soemthign to this?

I like the beacers but I think they tips could have more action. The dbomb has been pretty good to me!
