  1. Thats the first *** I started out with. I have indeed thrown everything on it. Was my texas rig rod. Recently replaced it with a dobyns dx744. Its not my spinnerbait rod. One of my fav rods for sure.
  2. Part of me wonders if its one of those gimmicks myself. I love when I see pros tout the less stretch thing. Kudos to them for being dutiful to their sponsors but I dont think TT would lie about it either. I'd like to see a more current comparison though. Who knows, it could have changed.
  3. I LOVE okuma reels. Lightweight, funtional and innovative IMO (the braking system). They can also be had for CHEAP on ebay. Just bought me a komodo to go with my 2 helios. TBH though if I were you I might wait for another BPS sale and buy 2 pro qualifiers.
  4. Do you have klx rods? Which ones? How would you compare them as opposed to other rods in their price range and above? I've heard they compare very favorably to rods costing upwards of 300... I cant wait to put them to the test against my champ extremes. I'm going with the - KLX Mark Rose Offshore 6XD, 5XD & Lipless Cranking - KLX Texas/Carolina Rig Worm Jig Heavy 7' and KLXFJCW76H to use as my flipping stick.
  5. I just spooled up a bunch of sunline sniper on my t-rig and jig rig. 14lb test. Hoping to give it a test on monday. As far as less stretch as mono... TT did a test evaluating fluroros and found that many had just as much if not MORE than mono. I'm actually kind of skeptical about the whole debate after reading their findings.
  6. I really think as far as value is concerned its almost impossible to beat a pro qualifier carbonlite combo from BPS. Unless you buy used of course. This was my first baitcasting combo and I love it. Still use it today and catch just as many fish with it as any other combo I have.
  7. I'm going to purchase 3 klx rods next friday (payday). I emailed the company and Trey Kistler emailed me back. Was very thorough and patient with my questions. Pretty amazing when the owner contacts you. I've read about all the problems but I'm willing to give them a shot.
  8. Get the paper map and use their web app for free! http://www.navionics.com/en/webapp
  9. Been all about the ***! Cant wait for the tandem spin spinnerbaits.
  10. Own em all. 13 hands down. More true to rating than the Veritas and more sensitive than both. Gave my buddy my diesel and veritas.
  11. Heres a question. I normally cast my jig out and try to figure out how the fish want it. I'll usually start by casting it and lifting my rod slowly to drag it across the bottom. I just read if you do this and you go over a rock, when you get to the edge your bait will fall AWAY from the rock and not straight down the rock face. How do you guys slow retrieve your jigs to avoid this?
  12. I was going to buy a couple Envys during the memorial day sales... Ended up with a dx744 and 745 instead. I've also been super impressed with Kistlers KLX! Man thats a lot of rod for the money!
  13. 800 for one rod and one reel? Wow You could get 2 NICE high end rods and 2 good reels for that... I went to a local pond earlier today and fished my buddies new KLX. Didnt catch anything but d**n was I impressed! Heck of a value there as well.
  14. I'd spend more on a rod and buy a less expensive reel. I own a steez and a couple zillions and while they are very nice I catch just as many fish on my PQ. Also have a lews TP and BB1 and some others I cant remember. My current fav reels are actually made by Okuma. I have 2 helios and a komodo. Very nice and I love their brake control mechanism. Might cast a bit further but it wont help you detect strikes any better. I just bought a couple dobyns champion extremes for a GREAT price. Read the reviews or look up the dx744 and 745. 744 is one of the most highly regarded rods I've ever researched. Plus the 60 dollar no questions asked replacement policy is amazing. If you're interested pm me and I'll give you the info. As far as fluoro I've had great luck with sunline fc sniper. How much do you want to spend?
  15. Just found this while searching. Know its old but figured I'd add some. I've found a couple manufacturers that make some buoyant worms. One is action airetale and the other is xcite baits. Just got some excite batis in but havent had a chance to fish them yet. Also power team lures (my new fav company) baits all seem to at least be neutral.
  16. Carolina rig. Might be able to cast it further than a t-rig. USe it to 'feel' the bottom of where you're fishing and look for cover. Once you find cover, rocks, stumps, etc, hit that area pretty hard before moving on.
  17. Texas riged, punching flipping, or on jigs. I've never been that impressed with the RI products... they really dont have much action. Much better success with the dbomb and bully by power team lures.
  18. I've started storing my plastics inside and use this style of plastic shelf. I make dividers out of cardboard and place a couple in each. Then I put a piece of tape over each section and label it. For example one would be "Green Craws" "Black and Blue Craws" "Green Creatures" etc etc. I find this to work exceptionally well for plastics. Then before I head out I decide what I want to bring and it keeps everything really well organized. For my hard tackle I have one plano box for each. Ie one for 6xds, 3xds, jigs, topwater. Same as above I decide what I want to take and off we go. I always have my tackle box with what I consider 'essentials' as well.
  19. If you like senkos I'd try the power team lures sick stick. I just started throwing these wacky on a jig head and they have a very similar action. Make sure you put em on right though
  20. I've heard rumors it might be the zillion replacement and be around $249ish. All conjecture though. Personally I'm hoping it comes in more around 199. Always thought the zillions were over priced. So are the steez IMo. (I own 2 zillions and a steez)
  21. I was ready to buy two of them the other day as I love my Omens. Ended up getting a great deal on a couple of dobyns Champ extremes. I will own one of these one day though. If you get one please post about your impressions.
  22. For 100 bucks also look @ *** *** series rods and BPS carbonlites.
  23. Yeah, the maximus are a tad pricey, almost a buck a worm. Most of their other stuff seems pretty reasonable though. Definitely going to be placing an order for some of these soon. Their new square bill looks pretty neat too.
  24. Bought 3 the other day. Gonna give em a shot this Tuesday/Wednesday.
  25. I dunno why from what I've seen they seem to float better than other worms that claim to float. I guess I'll have to try em out! Place an order for one of each type of their baits. All seem pretty good.
