  1. Anyone think of any videos that demonstrate this? Most just show people doing it so fast I miss those kinds of details.
  2. Maybe want to check out the new M1 line by Phenix. If I understand correctly they are supposed to use a resin that makes them a bit stouter without losing much if any sensitivity. I'm looking @ the 7'8" heavy myself.
  3. Just got myself a *** 6'8" *** black M/XF for flukes and weightless plastics. Love it.
  4. Cool thanks everyone! Psyched myself out thinking it must be a bigger problem than it is.
  5. Is this true of most bc reels in general?
  6. Say I'm pitching to a specific spot, a stump. Wouldnt it be more advantageous to have it drop straight down near the stump than start to pendulum back?
  7. So i've recently begun trying to become more accurate pitching/flipping and have even attempted skipping. (Failing horribly @ skipping) I've begun to notice that my baits really dont fall straight down. In fact they tend to hit the water and sink a little and then pendulum back towards me. I think this has something to do with my spool tension being too tight? I usually set up my bait cast reels by setting the centrifugal brakes, then adjusting the spool tension so it hits the ground with no over run. Should I just loosen it and feather more during casting? Or is there a simple fix I'm totally over looking?
  8. In my experience cash is king. I got my boat for 700 less than the guy was asking by showing up with cash. He was 'firm' on his price too.
  9. How'd you know I'd be spooling it with braid! Thanks for the input.
  10. For those with the 766, I'm looking for an all around rod for heavier set ups. Potentially frogs, flipping, pitching etc. Would you recommend it?
  11. Where are they available? I'm not seeing them @ TW?
  12. Someone posted on TT saying the new resin makes these rods a bit more 'stout.' If thats the right word. Definitely seem interesting and at a pretty good price point. Might pick one of these and a recon up with an *** during black friday sales. If they're out by then that is.
  13. Took it out to a little urban pond just to test out. Threw some flukes and senkos both wacky and conventionally rigged. I also paired it with an Okuma Helios with 12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid line. Cant say enough good things about this rod. Light, sensitive, easy to hold all day, aesthetically pleasing, craftsmanship seems above average (No expoxy drops etc) Didnt catch anything (SMALL urban pond after all... Hell I'm not sure theres anything in there other than carp) but it was to cast, and pitch with. Can't wait for the black friday sales! Gonna buy the *** Black 7'6" Heavy for heavier cover situations.
  14. Been looking @these as well. Acording to TT they recon 2s are coming out as are the 'm1' series. The m1 series seems very similar but more robust and is priced very similarly. Might be more what you're looking for. If they recon2s are coming out I wouldnt mind picking up the originals if they were on clearance for a good deal.
  15. LOVE both rods. I actually caught a fish on the first cast with my MH/F one. It was a 1/2 dink but whatever I felt it and caught it! Sensitivity is outstanding and the balance is great. One thing that impressed me was the craftsmanship. They seem really well put together and they're quite light! I've also got a carbonlite and a couple veritas and these are my favorite by far. Havent had a chance to take the new one out. If I cant make it to a lake tomorrow I'm gonna go to an urban pond and work on my fluke/weightless plastic technique. Just as well put together as my other one.
  16. Just wanted to share a good customer service story. I purchased a *** *** Black rod during the last labor day sale and have been very impressed. So impressed that I decided to order another oen for throwing weightless plastics/senkos and flukes. I decided on the *** Black 6'8" M/XF. I had a hard time find a dealer of this particular rod. I emailed *** and they apologized for the lack of availability. They recommended I have it special ordered from one of their retailers and instead of shipping it to the retailer and then having them ship it to me they would ship it direct from the factory! Just got my rod yesterday and its just as well crafted as the other one I got! I bought another Okuma Helios that I'll probably pair with it. They also included a hat! All email exchanges were very prompt and Ill be ordering more of their products in the future! (Probably an *** black during the black friday sales)
  17. If you can go to BPS/Cabelas/ Whatever store is near you. Try and put the reel on whatever rod you'll be using it on. Make sure you like the feel and balance.
  18. Sure did! Was the same day I got my boat! I was so excited to just get out there I was totally a like a moth to a flame! Tunnel vision and didnt even notice it lol.
  19. Whoops must have overlooked where you mentioned that. I actually really like the way you access the braking system. I find it so simple to just twist the plate, and turn the knob to the desired brake setting. Seems pretty innovative. Although this last point is hardly relevant, I also find their reels very aesthetically pleasing. To the OP if you can check em out I highly recommend it. I'm tellin ya for the price I got my 2nd one for you won't find a better reel.
  20. Thats part of the reason I like it! I still havent seen anyone else fish with any of their reels. WHen the sales guy @ cabelas pointed it out to me I was astonished! Not only did I not know they carried it, but there was another human being that thought it was as fantastic as I do! I'm telling you if you can find it for $149 you wont find another reel that comes close.
  21. Sure you can, spend the extra $20 and get a helios from cabelas. Provided they have any...
  22. Take it back for sure. I bought a veritas and didnt inspect it as well as I should. I literally got birds nest on every cast and couldn't figure out why. One of the guides was smashed almost parallel with the rod.
  23. I was just @ cabelas today. Considering I just bought 3 reels yesterday I really didnt need another one... But they had Okuma Helios for $149.99! This reel retails for $220! I already had one and absolutely loved it so I had to buy one. For $149 there isn't a reel out there that can even tough it IMO.
