  1. You just can't go wrong with the PQ. Its a tank of a reel and comes in a lot of gear ratios. There's a reason it has over 700 5 star reviews on BPS site. I have about 10 of them right now and all are being used every outing. The only reel I have that I would prefer over it would be *** but only because its size and palmability. Its also about $80 more. The PQ is onsale for 67.95 great great buy And to add I do like pfluger I have some spinning reels and had the purist awhile back. Sold it and added a PQ
  2. I personally would go with MH. I fish my Gambler swimbaits on a MH carbonlite with a PQ reel. No need in going with a Heavy unless your fishing some gnarly cover like in FL(above comment).
  3. That's awesome customer service. Have a couple of their rod's and can't complain one bit.
  4. Siebert outdoors makes great jig's with great designs and patterns. Also make a great spinnerbait! Got some strike kings, pond punk jigs, and Dirty jigs. Honestly like the pond punks jigs a lot, made by some guy in FL not sure if he is even making them anymore and Siebert jigs the best
  5. Seriously contemplating switching all my setups to YH. May go with 10lb test for smaller diameter on baitcaster since the break strength is so high. Cheap line that is loved by a lot of people. Tried it on my buddies set up and honestly loved it. Been using P-Line but my previous roll has had memory issues even with line conditioner.
  6. I hear great things from the Okuma Helios spinning rod my buddy has. Also a little cheaper than your price is the Carbonlite. I have two of these and love them. My dad has a St Croix and it is easily equal if not better sensitivity wise. Just my two cents
  7. Anyone use these? I was looking at adding them to my boat. I have a 18ft Quest center console but not sure if the mounting would be a fit on my storage lids. They have a grid style design under the lids not sure if it would be wise to mount with screws?
  8. I go over my reels and lube them but at the end of this season I will be sending mine in to DVT and having them cleaned and bearings upgraded and the drags upgraded. I typically wouldn't do a mass upgrade like that but I have found the reels I have in my lineup are exactly what I am looking for and think they will be in it for quite some time so mine as well get the best out of them that I can. But many people don't want to touch their reels themselves and prefer others more knowledgeable do it
  9. Yeah don't even waste your money or time. These reels are not made in the main manf. plants in China like some of Pure fishing or some BPS reels. Some of the PQ were made in China and some in Korea. Not to say you cannot get a good reel made from China but obvious issues arise when you are buying an unknown manf. reel without much warranty to stand behind it or company to shoulder the blame if it does fail
  10. It's strange honestly the lower end stuff is not worth purchasing, but as soon as you get to the PQ and up the value and bang for the buck is unreal. They did have some issues with the carbonlite black after the gold carbonlite but I have 2 of these reels and no issues. Have not heard any bad reviews on the new white carbonlite so maybe those production issues have been fixed? But you cannot go wrong with the extreme, carbonlite, or the JMS rods. And you cannot go wrong with the PQ, Carbonlite, JMS reels
  11. Retrieve will depend on how they want it. Try dragging it then hopping it. Let the fish tell you how they want it. There's no one set way to fish any type of lure especially a T-rig
  12. Gambler EZ's. They have the little EZ, TZ, the regular size EZ and the big EZ just depending on bait fish size and matching it up. They come in a # of great colors and the garlic scent is killer. You can fish it all day and still smell it. Also the new Rage tail swimmers look pretty sick. Will def be trying them. But my permanent soft swimmer has to be the gambler. Have caught some studs on them
  13. I will fish the Rage tail lizard carolina rigged or texas rigged. I got a buddy who bed fishes and uses a lizard and wears em out, I don't bed fish but he has caught some monsters running the lizard up in the bed big girl picks it up and fish on. He of course puts it right back after a picture but to each his own
  14. Wouldn't get any of the cheaper combo's to be honest. But the PQ/Carbonlite combo and up are great rods and reels. I have about 10 of them. Also have some carbonlite reels paired with the rod and some JMS reels with the rod. BPS rods and reels is majority of what I fish and I have never had an issue. But I do stay with the "higher end" of the line
  15. I would get a Low Down Custom's rod. Ben is a heck of a rod builder. He can do a customer rod or he can do a production version he makes which is cheaper. Great rod's
  16. Yeah whenever they do a change it always seem's to be more than just minor issues. I have a couple of the gold carbonlites and have no idea why they would ever change that design. I heard it was due to manf. contracts but that reel was a real winner. Smooth and light as can be. For a heck of a price.
  17. I use ragetail baits and gambler baits for swim jig trailer. Depending on size little EZ or the standard EZ swimmer from gambler.
  18. BSP Pro Qualifier/Caronlite combo. You can thank me later. Great set up no matter price but also fits your budget which is main thing. I have some higher end set ups and honestly I dig this exact setup and prefer it. As long as you take care of your gear it will take care of you believe me
  19. 85% of the reels I fish are BPS reels along with BPS rod's. With that being said I have many many PQ's. Tank for a reel in my opinon. Never had any issues with them. Probably the best reel dollar for dollar that I own in all honesty. The reason they haven't changed it is because it is so wildly popular and successful. Its their flagship reel besides the JMS reel. They also had a killer lightweight reel in the gold carbonlites and they changed them and people did not like it (I own two of the black carbonlites, love them as well). In my opinion they don't want to alter the PQ frame and design simply because it works and with previous changes they did were not well accepted. Just my two cents.
  20. As always Big O and rage tail putting out some great baits. Always have Ragetail bait's rigged up on my set ups
  21. Siebert Outdoors spinnerbaits are killer. Along with some great color choices and weights
  22. D&M baits bladed jigs for me. The piranha is a killer set up
  23. Not sure if anyone has seen it or is interested but the PQ is on sale. Has always got a lot of love on the forum for a great bang for the buck so thought some may be interested.
  24. I'm different than most. I keep ALL my baits in the original package. I have 4 small to medium size tackle bags that are sorted and organized. One holds all my terminal tackle & line. The other holds all my crankbaits & spinnerbaits. Another holds all my jigs (swim jig, flipping jig, football jig etc.) And the last holds all my soft plastics ( Ragetail, Gambler, Culprit, Berkley, D&M baits, Reaction Innovations) The soft plastic bag is the one where all the baits will be in the original bag or package. I'll have them sorted by company then within that sorted by type (worm, beaver, creature etc.) then sorted by color. I'm kind of OCD about my gear
  25. BPS crankin stick is a great crankbait rod. Veritas winch too
