  1. Haven't used the CX but I use copoly on all my set ups and P-Line CXX is my choice. Never had any issues, use line conditioner every time before trips and memory is not an issue. Its cheap and strong as all get out. I have had it break once after about 24 fish being caught and my dog getting wrapped all up in the line as the rod sat on the deck. Didn't retie or check my line and was fishing rip rap. My mistake. Great line though
  2. I have a jig tied on non stop year round. In fact I usually have 3 on different set ups. Weight, color, trailer style all vary for different presentations. Love flipping a jig into brush or flooded timber and working it. I may be in the minority but I jig fishing is one of my favorite ways to fish.
  3. I have and always will vote for BPS higher end gear. From the PQ up you are getting good quality. Obviously issues do occur in certain instances but on the whole it is good quality and good performance. I own quite a few BPS rod's and reel's and they are my favorite combos. From the carbonlite gold and black mounted on carbonlite rods to the PQ/Carbonlite combo. Have many other higher end rod and reels and always find myself reaching for what I am comfortable with and have confidence in and thats my BPS gear. Its a great bang for the buck as people have said and you can buy with confidence.
  4. I've always loved the higher end BPS rod's. Have about 10 of the black carbonlites paired with PQ, Carbonlite and JM reels. Will be getting the Titanium rod for my next set up and see how it is.
  5. Thanks for the info. I have a bunch of the older gold carbonlites and the black carbonlites and love them. Was gonna purchase the new carbonlite but got wrapped up in getting new swimbait setups. Will be getting a white one in the near future!
  6. Fishing a swimbait last year at a city pond here in NC near some hiking trails with some buddys. A guy comes walking up while were fishing and asks if I'm fishing for a whale cause the bait I have ain't gonna catch anything. It's too big for the fish. I'm fishing with a 6in Hudd. Next cast I hook into a 6lb bass. Look over at the guy and asked "Well looks like I found a new species of whale here in NC".
  7. Lol Wayne is spot on. But I'm in Brown Summit, NC and this is a very large pond on a private farm my buddy's family owns. I've seen DD's come out of it multiple times in the last couple years. All are put back and the pressure on this pond is very minimal. We have to push ourselves not to over fish it. It probably see's a lure every 2 months... And even then its only two people fishing it at a time.
  8. Yes I posted it on Swimbait Universe as well as SNE.
  9. Awesome fish. This is what I'm hunting for is a DD
  10. Heres a 2nd shot of her
  11. Caught this big girl this past weekend. Had a couple warm day's in a row in the mid 60's. Decided to hit the pond. Paid off big time. Caught her on an LDC H and a Pats Perch
  12. Awesome fish no matter the weight
  13. I know plenty of people that kill it up north. They catch multiple 5lber's and up during the year. That's in MA, NY, PA. There are some good sticks up that way that can really get on em. The problem is it takes time to learn the area and the movements and locations of big fish. These guy's go after only big fish with big baits. NC is a good state to fish in. Not too much pressure, alot of lakes, and the chance to catch a DD is real. We have some TOADS swimming around. But I'd go California, TX, FL as the top three
  14. Honestly a good starting setup would be an Okuma Guide Select rod H and a Shimano Cardiff 300 if your a righty. I have 4 of these setups and love em. I have more expensive LDC rod's and setups but I use these side by side with them and they are great for the price
  15. Nice fish! Just got my hand's on a few MCL Gill's. Love em!
  16. It all varies on what "swimbait" you'll be throwing. 6in Hudd's, 8in Hudd's, Glide bait's, Slammer's, Rat's. These bait's can vary anywhere between as low as 1.5oz to upwards of 8oz. depending on what bait. More info would help. Take Speedbead's advice he is who I ask for information
  17. I'm hoping they stick with the charcoal gray rod's and have a seperate rod line up for the white rod's. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I think the Carbonlite's are the nicest looking rod I own. Will be scooping up at least one rod and reel for those sale prices.
  18. Rod's: BPS, Abu, Lew's, 13, LDC, Okuma Reel's: BPS, Abu,13, Shimano
  19. I use P-Line CXX for my bigbaits and I use a Palomar knot. Since I have first started fishing big baits I have tied line direct to bait. But at the advice and opinion of some big bait guy's who have the fish to show for it I am going to start using swivels.
  20. In response to the OP I normally carry 3 rod's bank fishing occassionally one when I am dialed in on a pattern for an extended period of time. I just became a boat owner so now I have about 9 with me at all times. Needed? No just help's if what I'm throwing isn't working to switch it up easily to a new rig. Now here lately I have gotten to where I am only taking one rod and that's one of my swimbait rod's. I take it only to learn every little detail I can and gain more confidence with it. More rod's is more a luxury not a requirement
  21. It's crazy how the Dep's can bring in followers like no other. I personally don't have one would love to get my hand's on one though. I got some other glide bait's and a Hudd rigged up to hit the lake this weekend. Hopefully I'll at least be able to see a giant then trick em into biting!
  22. Another member on here pointed me to using the rage craw as a topwater and it works like a charm! Burn that bad boy across the top of the water and hold on
  23. There's swimbaiter's all across the south and north. I know guy's in MA, PA, NC, SC, that throw strictly swimbaits. It's not too common around here because alot of people don't understand or won't be patient enough to know the time and patience it takes to get big bait's down and to learn the behavior of big bass that you are targeting with these swimbaits. It can be intimidating as I have learned since this is my first year throwing them and I've had to learn everything on the fly and online. SU has helped me a ton and there are some good guy's on there that have helped me with any questions or concerns when it comes to chucking big baits.
  24. I use Shimano Cardiff 300's for my big bait setups. Good reel, good price, good results. Best reel? Of course not but for the money I think it is. Only round reel's that I use. Well I take that back I just ordered a Calcutta but I still like my Cardiffs!
