  1. My biggest bass of the year last year the water temp was 38...As long as it isn't frozen i will give it a shot.
  2. I think people are confusing technique specific with waht hte company sees as the right technique for a given rod. My favorite rod for weightless plastics initially was labeled as a tube rod and then ironically enough, the one i prefer now is labeled as a weightless palstics rod. It is nothing more than a guideline to get people started. If i am a newbie who used a buddy's gear and enjoyed throwing spinnerbaits i can start to narrow my search by looking at spinnerbait rods. Once yo uget some time fishing you look for power and action and get the rod, no matter what is printed on the blank.
  3. I have 3 keys, one for the Jeep, one for the house and one for the lock to my shed. And for all of you that have a ton of keys it isn't good to have a lot of weight on your iginition system in your vehicle. I know it sounds silly but all that added weight dangling and swing back and forth every day can cause premature wear on certain parts of the ignition cylinder.
  4. Who writes checks anyways??
  5. I think you should stick to "pharmaceuticals".....
  6. I have owned waders from the bottom end up to the top end. You get what you pay for. I prefer breathable waders and not neoprene as they are just way to warm and not versatile enough and suck to sit in a kayak with in my opinion. I tried out a pair of the Frogg Togg waders this past year and they are pretty good for the price. are they super breathable, not really but they allow enough room for layering and have kept me dry in two seasons of trout fishing and cold weather kayak fishing so i am pleased. The breathables allow you to layer according to the temperature which makes them much more versatile. It also allows you to get boots separately that fit well and can then be used later on when wet wading in the summer time, at least that is what i do. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Footwear/Mens-Footwear/Mens-Waders/Mens-Fishing-Waders|/pc/104797980/c/104747580/sc/104674680/i/103926780/Frogg-Toggs174-Hellbender8482-Stockingfoot-Chest-Waders/749129.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fmens-fishing-waders%2Ffrogg-toggs%2F_%2FN-1101197%2B1000003467%2FNe-1000003467%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_103926780%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMM%253Bcat104674680%26WTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU&WTz_l=SBC%3BMM%3Bcat104674680%3Bcat103926780
  7. I am with Raider on this one....i thought it was a foregone conclusion but I am not a NASCAR fan other than when i need to take a nap and there isn't golf on TV.
  8. I saw those racks but the installation involved cutting the plastic retainer around windows i believe and it just didn't seem water tight to me, not that any jeep really is but i try and not encourage it at least I also am not 100% sure it would work with a hard top either but i my memory could be fading me, as it tends to do lol the rack i currently have also did not require any drilling but the one on my 95 did require 4 holes i believe for the rear mounting brackets.
  9. IT geek to the rescue!!!!
  10. Well if he actually deposited that check, whcih he wouldn't obviously, the bank will go by the long hand written amount not the numbers.
  11. I am interested too...i have heard of people growing potatoes in a barrel where as they start to sprout you add more soil which makes more roots which adds more potatoes....you do this all the way till the barrel is full of soil and eventually potatoes....i haven't tried it and was going to this year but i think i have enough to keep me busy lol
  12. Right because if you fish without reading about new techniques or seasonal patterns etc... I am sure you will be successful because you get to figure everything out on your own instead if utilizing knowledge others have gained....sounds like a plan for success to me...well, minus the success part.
  13. I thought about potatoes but it seems like they take up a lot of space and given my yard, I just don't have the room.
  14. I am no gardening expert but growing the same crop in the same spot year after year rids the soil of the nutrients for that particular crop so you are supposed to rote everything around....at least that is what i read lol
  15. yup what he said....that and read a lot.
  16. It really isn't that hard to do in my opinion....i can't even eat the jarred stuff anymore after making my own. It is especially good when you roast your own fresh tomatoes, talk about ridiculously good flavor. I am growing some San Marzano tomatoes specifically for sauce this year.
  17. Yeah i dont freeze meat in m sauce either. You bring up a question i have had though with regards to storing either by freezer or canning sauce. Is it best to season when reheating it or before freezing or canning? I currently season it like normal and freeze but i always wonder if any flavor is lost while freezing. It never seems to taste quite the same as when it is hot but that may just be my mind messing with me because it always smells so good when cooking it
  18. you can also go to the GIS site and see who owns any piece of land in Hanover. You could always ask for permission from the guy rather than getting run off multiple times too.....
  19. I would freeze it if i had the space but right now i don't have an extra freezer. I freeze a batch of sauce at a time now though and it works out pretty well for about 4 meals for me the fiance and my bottomless pit of a son....
  20. do you jar your sauce and if so how do you handle having the correct acidity level or do you use a pressure canner? I have been researching the jarring of sauce and everything i read said the acidity level of most tomatoes is not high enough to prevent certain bacteria from growing that can only grow in a vacuum or something like that...a pressure canner kills it as does the correct acidity level but most recipes call for lemon juice added to the sauce. it says it doesn't hurt the sauce but my sauce is pretty good and i don't want to screw with it lol
  21. I believe you are both 1 and 1a in this regard....
  22. This is the don't find them, they will find you approach and while some have mastered the technique, it is not recommended for those not properly trained in its nuances.
  23. Yeah Orvis does do a nice job with warranty as do most of the fly rod companies really. I have replaced my Sage 4wt DS2 more than once and each time it cost me shipping and that was it....i hope i don't break it again though because it has since been discontinued and i fear that i would get a newer version and i love the moderate action of this rod....not to mention it is the rod i learned on and has caught me more species of fish than any other rod in my lineup....
  24. What varities of tomatoes were those? The one i am very anxious to try out this year is San Marzano as they make awesome sauce and are sweet enough you don't even need to add carrots to the sauce as a sweetener. Oh and i remembered one other thing we are also growing which is one of my favorite vegetables of all time....Red beets
  25. I really wanted to do some redwood boxes for our beds but around here the price is astronomical for redwood and we aren't going ot be in this house for more than a few years so the added cost wasn't worth it to me. I may just do some stone or soemthing this year though....who knows as i know i can get that just as cheap as i can lumber lol
