So everyone eats it or has eaten it as a kid question(s) are? Toasted or not toasted? Crust or no crust? Chunky or smooth? Jelly type? Bread type? For me it is not-toasted Crust on Chunky-of course Strawberry or good old fashioned grape and wheat bread
  4. so is the only way to catch a record bass is to swim and catch it with your bare hands? and what about boats, should they all be hand made or can you only fish from the bank? And if it is so much easier because of man's intervention then why hasn't it happened? how can man not be involved if he is the one catching the fish? People have been altering nature for a long long time. Native americans would dam up streams to access better fishing and up their chances, they would also run buffalo into areas where they would be cornered so they could hunt them more easily. We could also look at farming and mining and cutting down logs to build houses etc... Bottom line is the world you think existed never really did, as we are all part of this world and should to our best to keep it as pristine as ever but managing a fishery is not a bad thing and believe it or not, everything isn't done to try and beat a record but rather provide an activity that gets people outside and enjoying the nature that is there. What areas can you fish that are untouched as you mention? Equating cheating and stealing with catching a stocked or non-native fish seems like a biiiig stretch to me. If you are so opposed to it then i question how do you fish and where because i would like to know where these untouched fish are that weren't under man's intervention because it would still be cheating or stealing even if it isn't the record, right?
  5. unfortunately there is no time machine to take you back to a time where the situation you list is possible. I am happy with a wild fish(stocked but self sustaining) or a native fish myself.
  6. Cheating is adding weights to a bass or literally hand feeding a fish in a private pond and "catching"it. And native environment isn't this country it is a few very specific drainages of which i am pretty sure most of us are not privy to fishing. Adding in forage fish to a lake is common practice and is what is needed in some instances to keep a fishery going, not to mention you still have to catch the fish. If it was as easy as you make it out to be, don't you think the record would have been broken already and multiple times? the answer is it hasn't been broken as of yet even with the "dishonorable" tactics you claim to exist. You also have to remember that trout stocking isn't an every day thing, it is not frequent and the only info i could find is that it happen maybe once a year now as it was originally done to help to build a healthy population in new lakes. Also, do lakes that are man made or because of dams put in rivers get discounted? I get the gist of what you are saying but to say that it should only come from america is silly. I mean i believe the snakehead world record was just caught here and that is not a native fish.
  7. I would caution against any type of weight support system that uses the scuppers as a holding point, this includes hanging or using a stake out pole. scupper holes are notoriously weak spots on most kayaks and is the first place they will leak in many cases.
  8. wow....dreamcast. i almost forgot that system even existed. I haven't found one yet that i like after a few hours of play time
  9. I got the usual card and went to her hair salon knowing she had a hair appointment on monday and paid for it ahead of time....told them to tell her happy valentine's day when she went to pay We went out to eat with our 3 1/2 year old son to get some mexican food.
  10. My next question would be is the definition of resale value.....is it what percentage of the original sticker price a used baot goes for or is it dollar amount people are willing to pay for said boat? I have not been able to find anything about actual depreication values differing between the major brands but a ranger will sell for a higher price because well it started out as a higher price and is priced accordingly and it does hold value a little better after the 5 year mark but that seemed negligible to me. Just for giggles i went to NADA boat guides and put in what a 2010 ranger z519 and a nitro z9 would be and based on the starting price and the average retail given the nitro held it's value better.... The ranger was average retail of 35k on a 52k boat and the nitro was 31k on a 41k boat....now what yo uactually get for the baot may vary but at the ame time this is the estimated value of a boat that is 4 years old.
  11. Anything I buy with the intention of keeping it until it's useable life is up. While making the choice of what to get i make a list of features i want and the price i am willing to pay. To me resale value is nice but very very low down on the list, if you are already planning on getting rid of teh baot or anythign else where that resale value is a concern i would question if you are making the right choice in the first place. No matter how you slice it a boat, car etc...should never be thought of as an investment as it would be the worst one any of us would ever make.
  12. peel it off and get the Zagg scren protector for it and be done with it. That screen protector is awesome, you lose little to none of the visibility and clarity and touch screens work the same. The scratch protection is also top notch. I have used them on all of my iphones and when i remove it when i get rid of the phone, there is nary a scratch on the actual screen.
  13. Seems like he wants to play the martyr role because he works and she doesn't but is neglecting to mention that she is home with the kids when they are etc....Sacrificing a boat or fishing for a family is a no brainer.....i love my hobbies and i try to do them as much as possible but if the **** hit the fan i would drop them in a second to make things work out. Basically it sounds like priorities of his fun are higher than family needs, even though those needs may be more than most would tolerate. I also highly doubt this just flipped a switch and all of the sudden it happened. These types of resentment scenarios build up over time and she is proibably just using the fishing as a way to voice her opinion. I would thinking working second shift would be good in that him and his wife could spend time together throughout the day but it doesn't sound like htat is the case so maybe, and this is pure specualtion, she is jealous of him wanting to go out fishing instead of taking and spending time with her during the day while the kids are in school. Of course the whole vacation thing is kind of weird too....but the fact that she asked makes it even more weird.
  14. they don't even look like bass to me.
  15. My next boat will be a coosa for the rivers (replacing the one i sold last year to a buddy) and a Native mariner most likely after i sell my Commander 120. We will see though how the plans work out since there is always something to take the money away from the kayak fund lol
  16. Yeah sunglasses are a must.
  17. I use the 8lb diameter power pro super slick on my crank bait set up and it does great.
  18. Sword in the stone and robin hood are two of my favorites and, don't laugh too much, alice in wonderland
  19. yeah i think you can....or you can swap out for pretty much any other seat out there. It is a pretty stable boat. I was able to stand in mine and cast but it wasn't something i did regularly because it wouldn't take much to get you into the drink but it is nice to be able to stretch your legs....
  20. I haven't bought one and probably won't becaus i already haev a ton of cranks but they look nice for sure. As far as the scatter rap goes, i bought a couple and i like them for certain situations where you are searching for fish but not banging them into cover to trigger a strike. The key i have found is to not reel to fast because they will want to roll over.
  21. well considering i do not believe they were introduced as of Jan 1 that means that many of the boats are less than a year old.
  22. 1700 is a lot of coin....as far as quality goes the jury is out on the ranger aluminum series since this is their first year. Will they be as nce as ther glass oats, who knows but reputation is taking them to good reviews right now. Think of all the additional gear or upgrades to the boat you could get with that money or just help pay for registration, gas etc.... I have atough time spending 1700 more for something mainly on the name and reputation. Personally i would look at the tracker or an xpress or g3 aluminum as they are tried and true brands that have been around a while.
  23. Yeah i saw o nteh news they were closing off bridges and other hilly streets, which i think is kind of extreme but better to be safe than sorry with some people...guess it is good i don't live in church hill anymore or they might have blocked off the entire neighborhood
  24. I don't think comparing raising and hunting a deer is a fair comparison. Sure you can breed and get a huge deer and you can do the same with the bass. The difference being that you still have to catch the bass where shooting that deer would be considerably easier. I guess you could maybe get a bass that large and have him in a pond or something and get him used to people but barring that, it isn't comparing apples to apples.
  25. Here in central VA it started about 4 or so and the end of the storm was still in alabama....we have at least an inch or two out there and it isn't supposed to stop till late tomorrow afternoon/ evening. I am just hoping i can get two days off out of it to make it a 5 day weekend
