Stripers On The Delaware In Pa
So I am heading up to PA to go fishing for a few days with my dad and brother for stripers. None of is have any experience but we thought it would be a good time. Anyways, I don't have anything heavier than MH bass gear which I think will be ok unless I get into so,etching real big. I have done some research and it seems like minnow imitations are the way to go and specifically anything with blue since apparently the herring have blue on them. We have also been told that fishing 2 hours before and after the high tide is the time to focus and hit up any bridge likings and other current breaks where they may sit and wait for the herring to be forced in or out by the tide. Anyone have any other suggestions or advice? I have never caught one so hopefully we can change that.

Soft Jerkbait Success
I have caught fish on them in every month of the year and water temps from 40 and up. Just slow down in colder water and you will have success.

What Are Your Favorite Setups (Rod&reel) And For What?
My favorite is a 6'8" MXF st croix rage matched up with a shimano Stradic spooled up with 20lb power pro super slick that I use mainly for weightless plastics and the occasional shaky head. Something just feels right with that rod. A close second is my cranking rod which is a 7' kistler helium MM with a BPS pro qualifier.

What Size And Type Line
Braid in 50lb (12lb diameter) is what I throw. I know others go even heavier but that is plenty heavy for the areas I fish.

Bucket Fishermen
Or maybe they don't realize how important it is and stop taking fish out if this pond and go to another one that allows it. There is also a pretty good possibility that it won't simply be a release the fish but rather a citation issued which will make them think twice.

Never hurts to report it......

Bucket Fishermen
So why can't you report them if it is a catch and release pond?

Death Shimmer.......single Blade Spinnerbait
So in this spinnerbait http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Lazer-Eye-Pro-Series-Spinnerbaits-Tandem/product/90121/ I would just cut the clevis holding the second blade and leave the beads on there. The other option would be cutting the end off sliding everything off then making a new loop and attaching the single willow back.

As long as they are within creel limits then I have no problem with people keeping fish. Contrary to popular belief, taking fish can be helpful to a lake and unless you are a fisheries biologist and studied the water you are fishing on for an extended period of time then you are not one to make that call. There are lakes around here that they want people to keep fish because of an overabundance of smaller fish which stunts the overall growth. Also who cares if they are "foreign", remember unless you are a Native American then at one point someone in your family was foreign too.....

Maines New Fishing Reg?
What is the reg? Maybe I am missing it but are you saying you cannot fish within 250 ft of those items? And jhoffman, you live in a fantasy world.....wake up and look around you and just because "tree hungers" view the environment in a view that doesn't coincide with what you like to do doesn't make them wrong. To say fishing doesn't have an impact on the waterways or environment is just silly.

Pa Anglers - Bed Fishing Warning... Its Illegal
Will do. Thanks for the offer.

How Does Low Water Affect The Spawn?
The other problem is finding suitable spawning habitat. One of my local lakes is drawn down probably 5-7 feet and the normal, spawning locations are dry and the lake drops off pretty sharply in most spots. Luckily there are still some spots that can support spawning so hopefully they do ok.

Just Met Rick Clunn!
Awesome. He is one of my favorite anglers.

Oh No! Out-Fished By The Wife!
Congrats and nice job catching a PB ....it is definitely pickerel time. Down here in VA i seem to catch 2-1 pickerel to bass here lately but luckily no bite offs yet

A Little Something Different For Carolina Rig...
I know people put crankbaits on C-rigs so why not try a topwater bait. I imagine it would need to be a pretty heavy weight and a stout rod to throw all that weight though.

Pa Anglers - Bed Fishing Warning... Its Illegal
I think it is because they consider it a trophy bass area or something. I am sure i coudl go out ther and say i am targeting a different species but i figure it isn't worth the hassle and i would feel guilty.... lol

Pa Anglers - Bed Fishing Warning... Its Illegal
I am pretty sure there are places that are closed in PA where you cannot target bass....The susky comes to mind as i know i try and fish with my dad up there a few times a year and we always wait until after the closed season to plan our trips but by then the water levels are usually so low he can't even take his jet boat so we are stuck paddling the kayaks

The Pennants Are Flying, As Is The Trash, And Apparently There Is A Team In Houston
Not only his first loss of the year but the first time his team lost in his last 20 or so starts. The phillies have been getting people on base but their hitting with RISP has been atrocious. THey could have put up 2-4 runs in teh first inning last night. As Charlie says, once it warms up it becomes hittin' season

Sponsorship Opportunities In The Midwest
Definitely change the font and eliminate the majority of the information and turn this into a cover letter. As a person who has reviewed a few resumes, you want to be clear and concise, not long and drawn out and correct the grammatical errors too. Bullet out your accomplishments, goals etc....also, is this for you or your partner or both? Make it your résumé and your partner can make his own. Just like you don't bring a friend to an interview you don't put your friend on a resumé either. Don't name drop either unless they are references. Meeting professional anglers really doesn't amount to much as they are also paid to be nice and represent their sponsors in a positive light. I definitely think you have some good content to work with but you need to either pay someone to write your résumé or do some more research as there are a ton of good templates out there to guide you along. Good luck and keep fishing and performing well and the sponsorships will come.

Check This Out!
I have had good success with it too....precursor to the Alabama rig explosion here recently.
