Bait Casters From A Kayak?
I also fish all types of rods out of my kayak and never had a problem. Keep the area behind your casting shoulder clear and you will be good. I usually cast seated but having the ability to stand is especially nice for bombing crankbaits a mile or pitching and flipping.

Braided Line Technique?
I like braid for pretty much everything. I even tried it out cranking using 8lb diameter on my cranking set up and it is performing better than when I used 10 or 12lb mono or flouro.

Fishing In High School And College
We had a similar thread going on here and the consensus from collegiate anglers posting was yes you can win money because in college it is a club sport and not NCAA sanctioned. As far as high school goes I would bet each county has their own rules.

What Is The Best Rain Gear For Fishing
I wear the same stuff as a I do backpacking and camping. An arcteryx gore paclite/xcr jacket and cheap rain pants. Rain pants to me are semi disposable and seem to get trashed more frequently than jackets so I get whatever waterproof breathable ones are on sale when I need them. A good place to look for any type of outdoor gear is www.sierratradingpost.com they usually have great deals on top notch stuff

Don't Sell Out
Interesting thread. Personally i think it is silly when i see peopel wearing jerseys with all the bait manufacturers on them unless they are a pro. The only logo items i wear are for sports teams and all the advertising i do is by looking for whatever brand i am using. Now i won't hesitate to offer up my opinions on a product and i am a st croix and sage rod fan. If you want to see a funny sport, watch cycling. I like to ride and it always cracks me up when i see a group of riders all "kitted" out and aren't even going along that fast. To me if you want to spend your money on logo gear then by all means go for it but it just isn't for me.

Capt. Ken's Designer Clone Frogs
Chuck hit all the good points on using the frog. The only place i differ is i don't use the hooks and rubber band setup for the frogs. I use a weedless kahle hook http://www.basspro.com/Eagle-Claw-Kahle-Hooks-Models-151WA/product/47504/ or the gammy weedless finesse hook. http://www.basspro.com/Gamakatsu-Weedless-Finesse-Wide-Gap-Hook/product/58035/

Fishing Flooded/strong Current River
In the high water situations you mentioned I rarely find the bass in the same spots as normal. They are usually either deep to avoid the current or tight to the shore in any current break they can find. Spinnerbaits usually are a good bait as it provides something for them to feel and then see. Like Sam said though, cold water can shut them down for a day or two.

Upper James River
Flukes are great smallie baits as long as it is a day ending in "y"

Capsized Kayak
Glad you are ok and that is a reason why i always wear a PFD when the water isunder 50 and most times when it is above 50 too. Luckily i am pretty good at handling cold water as i turtled my kayak once in 42 degree water and honestly didn't feel that cold. Must be all those years swimming in the ocean at the shore as a kid in 55 degree water

World Baseball Classic
I am not sure about kimbrel though. He had a few shaky appearances at the end of last year and in spring training and now at teh WBC....of course i may just be wishfully thinking

Costa Green Vs Blue Mirror 580G Lenses
I prefer the green mirrored myself and fish freshwater 99.999% of the time. The thing i like is that htey are not that dark and are more usable for more of the day. They, meaning polarized glasses in general, do some weird things when looking at LCD screens most notably for me is at the gas pump. I did just crack my lenses though which is a bummer but i will replace them no doubt as they are the best glasses i have ever owned.

Upper James River
dead drifted nose hooked stickbaits in 3,4 or 5" sizes, suspending jerk baits and depending on the day spinnerbaits and cranks can do well too.

World Baseball Classic
You can definitely tell that the majority of the teams other than the US are a few steps ahead as far as preparation goes. I still cannot believe kimbrel let up 2 in the 9th but being a phillies fan i am kind of happy

Where Do You Draw The Line With Wind?
I usually tailor my location to fish based on the winds. There are a few lakes i don't even look at the forecast and others where i will avoid if it gets above 15-20mph. Of course since i am in a kayak i also make the decision of do i go with my hybrid, aka not self bailing, or my SOT boat for safety reasons. Bottom line is i don't get to fish that often so unless the weather is ridiculously bad i am going out.

World Baseball Classic
Anyone else watching? I am surprised at how much I am enjoying the games but they really need to eliminate the air horns, this isn't a soccer match for crying out loud. I can't imagine how annoying it must be to the fans and players if it is annoying me at home.

Another World Record Red Ear From Havasu?

First Kayak
In that line of boats and price range a SOT is the way to go.

Short Life For My St. Croix Rod :-(
It happens St Croix does have a no questions asked replacement warranty, i think gold star, that for $50 or $75 depending on the model you can get your rod replaced. i think the big thing is you realized it wasn't his fault and i can bet you won't make the same quick judgement call in the future. Nobody is perfect and even kids realize that, thankfully

When Mother Nature Calls.
I have had the bubble guts a few times, before I figured out it was the double shot espresso Starbucks drinks, where I had to lean over the kayak......all I can say is am thankful for scuppers

First Kayak
If that is the case then go for whatever gets you on the water. You will adjust to what you have and learn what you want in your next one.

First Kayak
Yup what he said.....and keep, your eyes peeled for Craigslist deals and for a few dollars more you can also get a native redfish which is another highly under rated boat IMO.
