  1. Nice deal but they bumped it up to 300 this time. But I still may pick up a rod or two....
  2. Haven't taken my fiancee out fishing yet but she has feigned interest in going along. I think it is more because she knows once our son gets old enough he will be joining me and she will be stuck at home She has mentioned that if we ever decide a boat is in order rahter than a kayak a requirement would be a large back deck so she can come out and lay around while i fish. Luckily she is pretty cool about me fishing whenever i want. It is pretty much understood that when the weather is warm i get out at least one day after work a week and then one day on the weekend. It gives her time to hang out with her mom and sister and do whatever they do.
  3. The topic shifted towards a Jordan discussion so I said my piece. And individual players do not make great teams necessarily. One thing I think everyone can agree on is Jordan sucks as a GM:)
  4. I own two citicas and would get another. I haven't used the Abu so I cannot speak to the quality. If you notice a weight difference in your hand then I would recommend trying them both on the rod you intend on using because that heavier weight may be a positive or a negative depending on the rod.
  5. Give me an example of something Jordan did that nobody else did.... And the top 50 lists are always biased towards current times too
  6. No what it means is i watch basetbal lmore than the past 20 years. Oscar robertson averged a triple double for an entire season, Wilt was a beast who was so far ahead of his time it wasn't even funny and when was told he couldn't pass he went out and led the league in assists jsut to prove a point, Magic Johnson as a rookie subbed in at center in the NBA finals against a great sixers team and dominated at center and he made every person on his team better and of course as much as i hate to say it kobe is pretty d**n good too. Jordan was an outstanding player but he did not change the game. Yeah his level of competitiveness was soemthing hte league never saw but he benefitted from coming ito the league at the perfect time. Many greats were on the downswing of their careers and once Phil Jackson came on board they had a chemistry that wasn't matched and he won his titles. The league was probably at it's weakest durign Jordan's runs. Wehn larry, DrJ and magic won their titles they had to play each other every year in the finals and for the sixers or celtics they had to get through each other first too. I woudl argue the sixers in '83 are probably the best team to ever play the game and very nearly swept the playoffs if it wasn't for one loss against milwaukee. I would also argue that Lebron is easily the msot talented player to suit up in the NBA. The league has not seen a player of his size with that skillset. The thing he is lacking is his drive to win. If he had the competitive drive of say a kobe or jordan he would be the best by far.
  7. I wouldn't say Jordan was the best ever, top 10 maybe 5 but not the best. He probably was the most competitve player ever and the player who got the most calls. He just held a grudge against Isaiah since he couldn't get past him for all those years.
  8. The only time that may have compared was late 70's early 80's when magic, bird, Kareem, dr.J Moses Malone, bill Walton were still around and most in their prime. But that dream team was amazing, and if Jordan wasn't such a ****** bag Isaiah Thomas would have been on the team too.....
  9. So I am watching the dream team documentary on the 1992 Olympic basketball team. I am a big basketball fan and I almost forgot how dominant that team really was. It did get me to thinking though, was there ever an era of basketball that had the same caliber of players as that team did. I honestly couldn't think of one era, every player except the token college guy, Christian laetner, is in the HOF and most were fist ballot guys too.
  10. I had the step bars on my jeep but they kept getting banged up when off road so i took them off and went for some rock rails instead.
  11. Good looking truck but you need some fender flares or something to set off all the red body. Also, do you find yourself rubbing the tires when the suspension is being compressed? Doesn't look like to much clearance there but pictures can be decieving. I know i had to trim my back fender wells on my wrangler so i wouldn't rub when offroading.
  12. I have caught a bat like the flying kind, snapping turtle, eels, snakes, a beaver and an old rusted spinning set up that had to be 20 years old.
  13. I try and stay organized throughout the year since I fish from a kayak and space is not a luxury I have. I usually fish all winter long as long as there is no ice. Usually I shift to more trout fishing though and hit up a few of the spring creeks that don't freeze. This year I do plan on going through my tackle here soon and get everything squared away since I have realized there are certain techniques I favor and others I want to learn. I do also make a rivers box that has the majority if my smallie baits that I generally don't use for largemouth.
  14. Yeah but you have to buy the jeep and then pay another 15-20k for the conversion where the factory one is suppose to come in at 25-28k and have all the standard warranty stuff. I think they are even going to put a diesel in there too....
  15. I am not much of a truck guy but it does look good. I am stil lwaiting fort this one to be released myself since they have siad it will be released every year for about hte past 4 years or so http://4wheeldrive.about.com/od/jeepreviews/ig/Jeep-Gladiator/

I was going by the stated size and not actual measurement.
  17. flyfisher replied to Hersh's topic in Fishing Tackle
    really? i haven't seen anything but the 4", 5", 6" ,7" and th occasional 3" size.
  18. Is it the school or the individual that has sponsrs though? That is the big difference. My basketball team was sponsored by Nike for all of our shoes and uniforms but i oculd not get any personal sponsors (not that i was good enough to do that most likely).

I would say they aren't as soft as a GYCB but durabilioty is way better. Their action is better than a yum dinger so i would call it an in between a GYCB and a yum dinger. The other thing i do like is that they are in a little different sizes, probably to prevent patent infringement. they come in 5.25" and 4.25 inch models. I had him custom make me some extra durable 4.25 for nose hooking. He basically double dipped the nose in clear plastic so they would stick on the hook better and they were awesome. I caught probably 10 smallies before needing to change baits. WHen i was using the same technique with yum dingers i woudl catch 2 maybe three before it would tear free.

Yup I am a huge fan. I use their stick baits and their hero craws as trailers. I have also used their 6" finesse worm. Great prices and he does custome colors and plastic densities for a nominal fee.
  21. Brookies are the most beautiful freshwater fish in my mind.
  22. A guy who was recently accused of roids needs to stay away from anything like that to be honest. You combine that with his lack of actually fighting the test results but more the chain of command of the sample was not followed shows me that he said to himself "d**n I am busted what technicalities can we go after here." I totally agree it is more for recovery but once you see that happen why not keep using. Other sports I can see PED's as more of a survivor mentality, think football where being stronger helps you last longer but in baseball it is purely to add power numbers plain and simple. I love baseball but even on my beloved phillies my chooch jersey will never be worn again.
  23. Braun just needs to change the first and last letters of his name to F & D. He knew he was dirty before and got off on a technicality. Bsaeball needs to man up and say look first time you get busted it is 100 games and your contract is voided once your suspension is over, 2nd time you are out of baseball for 10 years. You might get some of those clowns who take in their early 20's to come back after 10 years but i doubt it and anyone approaching 30 their career is essentially over. Or on the flip side, just say anything goes as long as it is a "doctor" program.
  24. I am with you on the measuring of a fish but the VADGIF does state: Lay the fish on top of or beside a flat measuring rule. Do not lay the rule over the curvature of the fish's body. Close the fish's mouth and squeeze the tail lobes together. Measure from the tip of the snout to the end of the tail to the nearest ¼ inch. See diagram. Have an observer verify the length and complete the witnessinformation on the application. Or, take a picture of the fish and complete the length witness information yourself So he would be fine squeezing the lobes together and still be accurate according to the rules of the trophy fish program.
  25. I am with you on this one. I probably should have worded it differently because there are a lot of people that you could hand a balance sheet and they would have no clue how to interpret the information. One of the best pieces of advice i ever received was find a product you like and use and buy the stock associated with it. One good example for me was USAT. At work they installed the credit card accepting vending machines. I said that is pretty cool stuff so i looked at the name on the device and looked them up. I bought a couple hundred shares a few years ago just to see at a little over a dollar a share. Today's price is $2.40. Now i didn't make a ton of money due to the low initial investment but i don't think anyone would complain about doubling your money in 2 years. I am just hoping for a split and continued growth.
