The Road To The Super Bowl
man i appreciate all the love on here for my beloved, wallowing in self-pity, dream team, never won a superbowl eagles As far as what it takes to win a superbowl there seems to be a common thread here in the past 10 years. Outstanding offense with a defense that has played well in the playoffs. This is going to be a tough game and honeslty i think it is a flip of a coin. These teams are pretty evenly matched top to bottom and play similar styles which isn't to surprising since the coaches are brothers and all. I do think the wild card for this game is going to be Kapernick and what he does and special teams where Baltimore has the edge. I am going with san fran to win, ray lewis to cry and the eagles to continue wondering who they are going to draft with the 4th pick in the draft.

Fishing A Pond In Phoenix - Technique/tackle Question
i wouldn't look at it any different really than your normal fishing except you will be focusing mainly on the shoreline structure. Spinnerbaits are always nice because you can cover lots of water and they are easy for kids to learn too since they just have to cast and reel in, keeps them active. I would also go with the soft plastics and even grab a tub of nightcrawlers and some hooks and bobbers and chuck it out here. Might make it more fun for everyone because if there are big bass & catfish in there you could either catch some sunnies or the bass and catfish too.

2013 Improvements
I try and pick a technique each year to be better at too. This year i am focusing on jigs, deep water structure & crankbaits Nitro- I have to say you are the most positive person i have ever seen on any of the boards i frequent. Always something positive to say and encouraging. Part of the reason i am glad i found this site.

Broken Crank Baits
I haven't broken one either but the front hooks on my 2.5 always seems to rub the paint off in a circular pattern. I have heard of SK being really good about replacing broken baits.

First Fish On A Fly Rod?
Guess you haven't ever caught some slab bluegill on a 2 or 3wt.....other than a largemouth busting through lily pads to crush your frog this ranks a close second.

First Fish On A Fly Rod?
First i wil lsay bluegill definitely count!! My first fly rod fish was a 4" brookie caught in teh george washington national forest in VA. Caught him on a size 16 royal wulff And it was on a 9'4wt sage DS2 rod and ross colorado reel that i still own and use regularly and has probably caught well over 5,000 fish on that set up with only changes to the line.

Do I Suck At This?!?
I read somewhere that 70% of all state record LM bass catches were within 3 days either before or after a full moon. After reading hte article i created a spreadsheet for all of the citation reported bass here in VA and cross referenced them to the lunar tables and my data supported the article so i am a believer. One thing i have noticed is that during the full moon and if it si a relatively clear night the morning bite usually isn't there since the fish were feeding more at night than normal.

First Gopro Video
I have a 32G and i think i can get around 4 hours give or take on mine. One suggestion i would make is to start and stop the camera periodically. Otherwise you will be wathcing a whole lot of blank footage to get to the good stuff. I usually turn mine on and off between areas that i am working so as i am going through the videos it will be easier to determine when i caught some fish. I am still figuring out all the nuances of using one but it has been fun so far. Here is my first fishing attempt where i actually had some action.... http://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=3202628179810

Starter Jig Selection ?
Anyone care to talk a little about jig heads? I am new to jig fishing myself and am looking to add it to my bag of tricks this season. I know the football heads seem to be the jig of choice for rockt areas but what makes the brush jig better than say the grass jig for brush. To me it looks like the grass head will go through the grass better due to the shape but as far as the brush head i can't figure out why it would be better for fishing the brush. I fish lakes with a lot of grass so i will most likely be getting mostly grass heads but i am curious about the brush ones too.

Well Aint This Something
My dad always told me there is always work to do and to always look busy. If the job is done and it isn't quitting time then the rucks can be washed, reorganized shop cleaned etc....unfortunately I have lost a little of that since I am salaried now but that is more because I know that for every day I cut out early a few hours there are two others where I am staying late.

2013 Richmond Fishing Expo
I was in there yesterday morning from about 9:30-11:30 or so....I wasn't to impressed. It was cool to see the bass boats and I did pick up some money minnows for 2.99 a pack and some jitterbugs for cheap but after factoring in the admission cost I probably paid about retail price lol. Seems like it was more of a retail store than any great deals as most stuff was normal MSRP. I was gonna stop by and say hi to chuck and Jim and Tina at the ARC booth but there was a decent crowd around so I kept moving, last thing I need to do is look around and convince myself I need another kayak I did check out the yak attack black pack crate for us kayak anglers and that thing is pretty nice.

I'm Baffled
I am guessing your tournaments aren't on your local lakes? I think everyone does better on their home waters. You know them better and can try new things and gain confidence. The problem you run into is when you get stuck on one style of fishing and try and use that everywhere. Unfortunately it doesn't always work and when you are out of your comfort zone usually your confidence is lower and catch rate decreases. I have only been back into bass fishing for three years and each year I start out with certain techniques I want to learn. I then try and stack the odds in my favor by looking at bodies of water close by, reading contour maps and figuring out where I could up my chances of success with the technique I am trying to learn. Once I have a little success I try and find similar areas for that technique on every body of water I fish. Once you get through that initial phase of learning you will find you can work all these techniques on new bodies of water and up your chances of catching a limit. Bottom line is fish more and get out of your comfort zone and you might be surprised.

I am also a shimano reel guy and specifically I would like to see left hand retrieve lower gear ratios in something other than a $200 reel.

First Gopro Video
Looks pretty good to me. My first gopro video was when I strapped it to my 2 year old and set him loose at the playground. Made you seasick watching it but it was a pretty cool perspective to say the least.
