  1. whenever In-Fisherman would do its deal on what to look for when fishing, color was always the last thing on their hierarchy. I have always said color only matters when it really matters lol
  2. I was in your situation about 5+years ago and decided I wanted a purpose built trailer for hauling my kayak around instead of something that was modified etc...due to many of the reasons posted on here a utility trailer was out of the picture. I got a sports rig trailer and while it wasn't cheap I have zero concerns on the highway at any speed i want to travel. It has independent suspension and is designed for lighter loads so yo aren't going to be bouncing around all over the place. I can tow it behind my mini cooper countryman and you don't even know it is back there. If i had to make the decision all over again, i'd get the same thing i did....here is a pic with my jeep i had and then the mini towing it. I took the basket off as it isn't really needed and that would be the one thing i would change if i bought a new one...save that money but it did allow me to put my gear crate on the trailer itself which was kind of nice.
  3. yeah it isn't one i tied but your typical dahlberg diver. I got out today and went with conventional gear and lost one as big as this one. I set the hook, he went deep and i tried not to let him jump but he did and the jig hook actually tore out piece of his mouth cause it was still on the hook lol i have caught some big LM on slow sinking spiders when fishing for sunnies. And yeah, i used to go on those forums back in their infancy then kayak fishing turned into a **** show so i backed off from that scene....lol
  4. Got out yesterday and caught my first citation of the year and my first ever citation largemouth on the fly rod. 23" 6lb 5oz....
  5. Yeah you can without an issue. i'd just make a long cast and pull out the rest fix the spool washer issue and reel it back in under tension.
  6. I use side imaging mainly to make waypoints then using the casting circles on my helix to position my kayak accordingly so i can hit the intended target. I have had limited success in finding structure i see as i paddle past but in a kayak it is somewhat difficult to turn and shoot so to speak quickly from a paddling standpoint.
  7. even though i kayak i like these discussions as it helps my knowledge base should i ever go that route in the future. Have you considered the change of the center of gravity if you build the deck up higher on that boat? I mean my kayak is 14' and not as wide as your jon boat but standing up higher makes a difference in stability for sure.
  8. so i watched this and i know a little about side imaging but i never realized that your distance of sidescan was a total of depth and outward distance. most of my lakes i fish are shallow so it isn't as big of a deal but still...great info.

baking requires precise measuring so no thanks. only thing i bake is chocolate chip cookies with my kids and some rally good cheesecakes of whatever flavor i feel like the 2-3 times a year i make them.
  10. i don't mind any type of construction but i hate painting. If the house i bought needed painting...i'd move or install something that doesn't need painting lol

i had fire roasted "quick" chicken Alfredo tonight myself. it is my quick way to make a nice alfredo without having to worry about it breaking either before serving or after being stored.

I do 99% of the cooking in my house and that includes planning and buying the groceries. I can cook pretty much anything but the complexity has gone down some since i had kids and they are still developing their food palate so to speak.
  13. Nobody is bothered at all other than you obviously with that sensitive response lol. Your posts just seem to be all over the place is all. One says you are all in on a bunch of different baits and never leave home without a roboworm and now it is all zoom no matter what and now you are up and down with all your baits. I like zoom baits too and the z hawg and z craw are great creature baits. I'll still take my rage craws as trailers over anything zoom makes.
  14. Didn't you just have another post about a week ago that listed a bunch of other soft plastics you use? Something seems odd here....
  15. I'll pass on that one. I'd like to see some tests done on it for strength though or if it slips.
  16. well, no smallies yesterday. Checked out a new stretch of river to me and i won't be going back lol Caught one sunny though so at least I wasn't skunked
  17. Yeah the reverse tie of the bucktail to help flare everything out is very helpful and something i have used on other flies when i am looking for that action. about to load up and head out...was hoping to get out early but the wife had to work unexpectedly so i am on kid detail for a little longer.....
  18. pretty sure they are the jedi mind trick fly but instead of baitfish emulator i used an EP Style brush and the head EP style fibers. I may have made some other adjustments based on what I had on hand. I will say that I have tied a couple using craft fur for the head like they recommend and it works very well when reverse tied in to give the head it's shape. I tend to follow recipes somewhat loosely and modify as i see fit though or even take pieces off one pattern and another and make my own version. Gonna be able to try them out tomorrow at least for the first time in a while and i hope the fish cooperate.
  19. This look real good. I haven't gotten into tying poppers other than spun deer hair every once in a while. Those are fantastic though. I am finally gonna get out tomorrow and hopefully get myself into some good smallmouth action.
  20. I love topwater for bass too but I don't tie too much of them as of right now. Feel free to add whatever you want on here. I am always open to critiques of my flies and seeing others work to give me some ideas.
  21. just tagged you in it...i think i put it under tackle making maybe.
  22. @Fallser Here is the thread....
