  1. A-Jay, someone sent that one to me and I thought it was funny so I posted it without reading the others here.
  2. A senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he floored it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little gray hair he had left. "Amazing," he thought as he flow down I-94, pushing the pedal even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a state trooper behind him, lights flashing and siren blaring. He floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120. Suddenly he thought, "What am I doing? I'm too old for this," and pulled over to await the trooper's arrival. Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the Corvette, looked at his watch, and said, "Sir, my shift ends in 30 Minutes, Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go." The old gentleman paused. Then he said, "Years ago, my wife ran off with a State trooper. I thought you were bring her back." "Have a good day, sir" replied the trooper.
  3. That was a beauty!!!
  4. I think I would have quit when he didn't answer the original questions and replied with a bunch of mumble jumble. I have gotten some good deals from CL but you sure need to watch what your doing.
  5. I have a BPS Megacast. Lews Tournament Pro & Lews Laser MG of the 3 I like the Lews Tournament Pro best if has both the centrifugal brake and the magnetic. The best prices I could find for the Lews TP was on ebay at around $150 for new. My Lews TP is by far the best casting and the smoothest of the 3 I have. The Lews Tournament is magnetic only. If you not is a hurry refrubished Lews show up on ebay at good prices from time to time. The Tournament usually goes for about $85
  6. Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. Forgot to mention when that that price came with Free Shipping, what a deal, I'm tickled pink.
  7. For S&G I went to Dick's Sporting Goods and looked they had the St Croix Premier 7' MF for $69.97, pulled the trigger while I was there so I should have it next week.
  8. Of 2 equal rods one made in the USA & the other not I will choose the one made in the USA even if it's a couple of $ more. After several recommendations here about the Premier it does sound like a nice rod & the made in USA is a plus. I was hoping to get a Black Friday deal on a rod. With TW's 20% off Almost Everything I would have probably went with the Premier, but TW doesn't handle that line it appears. Looked at the Powell Diesel but it comes with no warranty what so ever. I think that BPS has the CarbonLite on some BF deal, but that rod was never mentioned here. Actually I think the Triumph that I looked at in a local sporting goods store had a Made in China sticker on it, might be mistaken.
  9. Thanks for the offer but Missouri is a long way from CT.
  10. That's only for the veritas casting rods, the spinning rods are $99
  11. I am in the market for a spinning rod to throw 4-6" weightless Texas rigged sencos. From other suggestions here on the forum I believe I should be looking at a 6' 6" to 7" Medium Fast or Extra Fast. I am more or less on a budget, if I spend more that $100 the CFO will probably blow a gasket, she already thinks I spend to much on fishing/boating stuff. ;-) So I have been looking at these to rods Abu Garcia Veritas VRS66-5 (1205853) 6' 6" 6 to 12 M XF 1/8 to 1/2 7+Tip A $99.95 VRS70-5 (1205856) 7' 6 to 12 M F 3/16 to 5/8 7+Tip B $99.95 St Croix Triumph TRS66MF 6'6" M Fast 1 6 - 12 1/4 - 5/8 3.9 4 $ 80 TRS70MF 7' M Fast 1 6 - 12 1/4 - 5/8 4.3 5 $ 80 St Croix Mojo Bass MBS68MXF Wacky Style 6'8" M X-Fast 1 6 - 12 3/16 - 5/8 3.9 1 $ 100 MBS69MLXF Drop Shot 6'9" ML X-Fast 1 6 - 10 1/8 - 1/2 3.8 1 $ 100 MBS70MF Tubes / Grubs 7' M Fast 1 6 - 12 3/16 - 5/8 3.9 1 $ 100 Any comments or suggestions?
  12. This morning I refilled the spool with the same line, Stern Original #6, this time I laid the supply spool face up on the floor, laid a phone book on a small table and ran the line through it, then placed a book on top for more weight, the supply spool was on the floor. Filled the spool to about 1/8" from the tip lip. Tied on my weightless senco and off I went fishing. Fished for 3+ hours, at times it was windy so I would say the conditions were about the same as the other day when I was having the issue. Today when I was finished the spooled looked about the same as it did when I finished spooling. The line also looked better after a cast, had some coils but they were large and not the corkscrew ones that I was getting before. I do thank everyone for your comments and suggestions, there were some very good tips that I will be using.
  13. X2 this does work, I now do this when I take them out of the package. Blue Fox is suppose to be good also, had some but had better luck with the white/sliver Roostertails. Seems the bass around here like the white better, as I also have better luck with white sencos. From the expressions on the little guys faces looks like they had a ball fishing with dad!
  14. Reading your guys answers got me thinking I may have spooled the spool wrong and caused the coils and birdsnest. I have a home made deal that holds my spool while I'm filling, I also pull it through a phone book to put tension on the line. I had read an article sometime back about how to spool the different types of reels, can't seem to find it now but this is what I remember. For baitcasters you feed the line off the bottom of the supply spool when it's held vertical, for a spincast reel you feed the supply spool off the top. I know for a fact that when I filled the reel in question I filled it feeding the supply off the bottom. I'm going to redo it tomorrow and fill it from the top and see if that makes any difference.
  15. Where's a good place to buy YoZuri line? BP has it but when I went to the store they only has clear and #10 was the lightest weight they had in UltraSoft.
  16. The best part about my job is that I don't have to get up and go to work, I can go fishing if I so desire.
  17. We have a mom & pop sporting goods store Denny Dennis, about 4 miles away. They have a nice selection of lures and a pretty good selection of tackle. Their pricing is pretty competitive & when you consider it cost me about $8 to drive to BPS or Cabela's their prices aren't bad. They have a Wally world right up the hill and in some cases they are cheaper. I would rather give them my money. Dunn's is about 20 miles or so from me and also has a nice selection and their pricing is pretty competitive also. Normally I have good experiences with salespeople at BPS or Cabelia's but today when I was in BPS and was looking for Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft, I couldn't find the weight I was looking for so I ask a salesperson if they had any #6 Yo-Zuri Ultrasoft, he tells me that only carry what's hanging on the wall. I tell him they have it in other weights and he doesn't believe me and says show me. He looks and says nope don't have any. Well duh I knew there wasn't any on the shelf, he ticked me off so bad I just laid down the stuff I had and walked out. I will order it online as they are the only ones around here that sells Yo-Zuri but I won't order it from BPS. I think we need to support the local shops as much as we can, think how it will be if we only have BPS & Wally World, you sure can't ask questions at WW some of them people don't even know they work there they have to look at their name tag to see if they do.
  18. This happened about 40 years ago, there were some of us fishing on the Gasconade about a half mile or so from where it empties in to the Missouri. An other guy and I were fishing from his jon boat and the other 2 guys were in the one guys jet boat with a 454 cu in v8. Now mind you were were back in a little cove so there was plenty of river for the speed boats to play in. This one bunch kept coming up river and would turn and see how close they could get to us. John the guy I was with was a cop and wanted to shoot a hole in their boat. I told him to wait as I could see that Bill the jet boat owner was getting real peeved. They came around again and this time when they passed we heard the 454 fire up, this boat would run in excess of 60 mph, Bill pulls out and heads down river after them. In no time he catches them and passes them pulling over in front of them. He then reaches up and pulls the reverse gate at pretty much full throttle, which created this huge wave that swamped their boat. It didn't sink it but I don't think the ride was much fun. Needless to say we didn't have any more issues with them the rest of the day. Nor did anyone else come over to where we were fishing trying to cause trouble.
  19. I always flip the bail manually, so that can't be the issue. Both reels were spooled the same way with the line spool suppened with the line coming off the bottom then running through a phone book to keep tension on it.
  20. I have 2 6' Ugly Sticks that both have Pflueger Trion GX reels and #6 test line, one is a 4520GXB, the other a 4730GXB 4520GXB has #6 Stren Original 4730GXB has #6 Suffix Elite I was out fishing and there was some wind but not real bad, the problem is that the line on the 4520GXB doesn't spool back up tight on the spool and after a few cast it gets so loose that it come off the spool in a clumb, looks like a birdsnest in the middle if the line. I attached on end to a tree and reeled out about 50 yards or so of line and reeled it back up tight. After a few cast it was becoming loose again. BTW I am fishing weightless Texas rig with 4" Sencos. Switched to the 4730GXB and did not have the issue. Both spools were sprayed with KVD Line & Lure. I'm thinking it's the spool size that is the issue as the line on the 4520 come off looking like a spring, whereas the 4730 line come off with a little coil in it but not near as much as the 4520. The line on the 4730 has been on the spool for several months and has not been used, whereas the Stren on the 4520 was just spooled today. So what do you think the problem is, line, or spool size?
  21. Nice video, very interesting. What kink of camera did you use?
  22. Might want to look at Hydrotruf http://www.hydroturf.com/
  23. I had it happen recently when I was bank fishing, was fishing across a small cove and this jerk came sliding down the bank and proceed to fish right where I was casting. So I decided it was time to practice casting. Wish I would have had a practice plug to tie on I might have gotten even a little bit closer. He then climbed back up the bank and came over to where I was fishing and crawled under the fallen tree I was standing by right behind me. When he slid down the bank I was wishing he had fallen in. Then there was the guy who was to lazy to walk to he drove and parked right in front of a sign that said 'Parking in lots only" when his buddy said something about where he parked he told his buddy to STFU and he could park where ever he wanted. I believe one of those fellows with a badge came by and explained to him what the sign meant. I will guess that these are the same people that don't bring their mothers with them to clean up after them. I guess the only way around this is to buy enough land and then put in your own private lake. To many idiots in the world and you can't fix stupid.
  24. I have one of the old style metal tanks and I like to keep it full over the winter to help keep the inside from rusting, so at years end I will fill it up and treat it with Sta-bil. In the spring I will pour it into the fuel tank on my truck. To top off the tank for the winter I don't worry about the mixture or oil. I do however tag it to remind me that it's not suitable for use with the outboard. During the boating season I use both seafoam & stabil, might be over kill but it doesn't hurt.
