Baitcasting Reels
When I decided to get into baicasting I went to Walmart and bought a cheap bc reel, it was a name brand like Abu Garcia or such don't remember what I bought for sure. Took it home and put it on a bc rod that I already had. Spooled it up with 17# mono and a practice plug. Set the reel up as described using Google as a source. The 1 cast, bird's nest, cleaned that up and cast again, same result. One more time, this time it cacklashed so bad I had to cut it off. Packaged it up and took it back to Walmart. Later I see a combo by Lews on sale at the local bait shop so I decided to give it another try. This time it was much better, I did get some bird's nest but nothing like the ones on the cheap real. After using the Lews Tournament MG for a while I went and bought a Lews Tournament Pro, very nice reel. Still in the learning process but I can now through it without creating a bird's nest, at least most of the time anyway. The moral of the story is buy a good reel, and you will be much happier.

Lews New Tournament Hs Spinning Reels
Does look like a nice reel wish I would have noticed it when they were having their 15% labor day sale. I have a Tournament SS200 & SS100 that I like. Watch eBay that is where Lews sells their factory reconditioned ones for a good price. http://stores.ebay.com/Sportsmans-Factory-Outlet?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

What Fishing Rules Do You Have That Might Be Different ?
Guess I will have to start taking the long way around so I pass the cow pasture on the way. Like the idea of cutting the line of someone who crosses your line. There are some idiots out there for sure.......

Go To Fluro Or Braid...coplymer
Pretty new to anything except mono but here is what I have found so far with a little experminting Braid - Sufix 832, the only other one I tried was Tufline and I thought it was like fishing with wire Fluorocarbon - Seagar InvisX tried others and like the way this one handles better, mainly use it for a leader on braid Copolymer - YoZuri Ultra (spinning reel) tried P-Line Floroclear but personally I like Yozuri better handles better in my opinion. Mono - Sufix Elite I also use Line & Lure on all of them. Haven't tried treating the spool when I buy it like Glen suggest in one of his videos but will. That's my 2 cents

Farming Nightcrawlers
I raised mine in the basement so heat wasn't to much of an issue. I had both Europeans and Africans and the Europeans were easier to raise and made better fishing worms. There is a lot of information on the internet about raising worms but much of it is wrong or misleading. I found the best place to purchase worms was http://organicwormfarm.com/, Bruce is very knowledgeable and raises his the worms he sells, many don't and they are just dropped shipped from someplace. I raised mine in 10 gal rubbermaid bins, used peatmoss mixed with shreaded news paper (black & white pages). There is a lot of info about feeding them table scrapes but I didn't have much luck doing it that way. I bought a bag of Purina Worm Chow (my local feed store ordered it for me) and mixed it with ground egg shells. The worms no matter what species will need some grit for digestion.

Line Log
I use a label maker that make a label with the Brand/Model & weight I then stick it on the spool.

Help Going From A Spinning Reel To Bait-Casting.
Tired that route and it didn't work out well at all. Turned me off on BCs for awhile. Decided to try it again with the advice here I purchased a better reel, in my case I bought a Lews Tournament MG which was actually on a combo. I could actually cast with it. Not to say I didn't get birds nest and I still do from time to time. I then bought a Lews Tournament Pro. Spent a lot of time in the yard with a practice plug before I took it to the water. I also watched videos here and on youtube

Summer's Ups And Downs
I can relate to that, I go to this little 1 acre pond that I like to fish. One night I pull 12 of them out in about 1 1//2 hrs. The next night fishing the same spots and using the same jig and presentation, nothing not even a bite. Tried a different color still nothing. Maybe I should have given up sooner and used a spinner or maybe a crankbait but I stuck with the jig that normally produces. Guess that is why it's called fishing.........

New Lews Spinning Reel, Advice On Rod?
I have 2 Lews spinning reels, a SS100a & SS200a, I like both of them, very smooth. Haven't had either of them for a long time so I can't comment on longevity. They come with 2 spools one being a braid spool which is shallower & has a rubber ring in the center. Most of my other spinning reels are Pflugar, Trion & President. I can't really put my finger on it but I think I like the Presidents better. Lews sells their refurbished reels on eBay, so from time to time you can get a good deal one one there too.

Does Line Color Really Matter?
Started fishing braid with a flouro leader so I don't think the color matter to the fish. For me I am trying to find something that I can see at dusk and beyond without much light. Most green is hard for me to see most of the time. Bought some neon orange and I could see it fine till dark then it disappeared like the moss green. The line is okay but I like 832 better guess I will try some it that in hi viz yellow. Unless someone has a better recommendation

Bass Boat Crash
The bass boat in the video didn't seem to have much of the boat in the water, I was waiting for it to blow over long before he tried to cross the wake at speed. Reminds me of some of the jet skies around here. To me the 1st part of the video looked like an accident waiting for a place (time) to happen. Like Brian I try to be pretty careful, I don't want to tear up my boat so I try not to do stupid things. Then all I have to worry about is the other idiots that don't care about their stuff or other people's stuff.

2P Rods
I found a Odyssey Elite at my local sporting goods store, the clerk told me it fished like a St Croix Premier. It was on sale for 50% off, reg $44.95 so I bought one. Fell in love with the rod and went back and bought a 2nd one. The one I have is 6"6'' Med/Fast. Today I'm going and getting a one piece 6" Light/Fast one piece. A friend of mine has a couple of them too and he likes them as well as I do. For the money you can't beat them.

Braid For Finesse/spinning Rod
I have been using #10 Sufix 832 with a #6 Seguar InvisX leader. Just bought some #10, #20 BP braid to try. I back my spools with mono so I only need 50-70 yards of braid to fill a spool.

Best Line For Spinning Reels
Was using Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft in mist green, very good line Recently I tried braid with a flouro leader and it has become by favorite setup, seems much more sensitive to me the way I fish. Currently I am finesse fishing
