  4. Welcome to BR!
  5. Despite my (negative) post about Facebook in a recent BR thread, I actually just created an FB page so I could enter the BR contests. It's kinda fun so far...I guess. I'm friends with my Mom and a guy I used to skate with. There's no one else I really want to bother with. Oh, and of course I found Bass Resource on there and 'liked' them.
  6. Windy Conditions - For me, this could go either way. In the wind I either do really good or really bad. I'd say it's about 50/50. Points - I've caught a couple off of points but not enough to justify the way people rave about them. But then again, I don't have too many points available as a bank fisherman. Spinnerbaits - If you asked me last year, I would have been with you but I was crushing bass, pickerel, and even a yellow perch this past spring, say from about March til May. Catching missed frog fish on another lure - I've never caught a fish with another lure after missing a topwater blow up but I have caught fish throwing back to the same spot with the same lure. The other day I had a bass swipe at my Skitterwalk 3 times on 3 casts to the exact same spot before I hooked him. Fall fish biting good - I did really well last fall. Caught most of my fish squarebill cranks.
  7. Fancast so you can cover as much water as possible and hit every piece of cover you can. Also don't be afraid to fish the shallow stuff. You might be surprised how shallow the bass will go. I've caught fish out of 6 inches of water right at the bank.
  8. Nice fish!
  9. Sounds like a good trip...nice fish!

  11. What was the area like that you were fishing? If you were fishing heavy cover and dragging your line through rocks, brushpiles, and the like, it's possible that the line was frayed prior to casting. I had this problem before. Kept wondering why my baits were just snapping off the line and flying off into the blue. One day I pulled a snag free and noticed the line all frayed for a couple feet above the lure. Every since then, I make sure to check for fraying every couple of casts and now this rarely happens to me anymore.
  12. My vote is for dawn. There's less people on the water (at least on the lakes I fish). Especially if you go on a weekday. If I go at sunrise on a Monday, I rarely see anybody else.
  13. Looking good...I'll have to give them a try!
  14. Awesome fish...loving the bulged out eye!
  15. Good magazine...I'm happy with it.
  16. Got a letter from them a few months ago and actually considered joining. After reading this I'm glad I didn't go through with it.
  17. I rig it on a weighted swimbait hook like this. http://www.basspro.com/Gamakatsu-Swimbait-Hooks/product/103718/. Doesn't have to Gamakatsu, could be any brand. Screw the nose of the bait onto the little spring and then hold the bait beside the hook so you can see where the hook point needs to go in/come out. Go in through the belly slot and you come out on the top and make sure to burry the point so its completely weedless. Also make sure the belly fins go one on each side of the hook or else it won't run strait. It's a great bait but it took me a couple try's to get it rigged properly. Just be as careful as you can cuz as your probably already found out, they tear pretty easy. If that doesn't help, maybe this will. It's another thread about rigging the Shellcracker. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/119482-rage-shellcracker-rigging-discussion/?hl=+rage+shellcracker
  18. Congrats on an awesome fish!
  19. Personally with inline spinners, I don't do a very hard hook set. The fish mostly hook themselves and I just give the rod a little sweep to the side and keep the pressure on. Someone with a little more experience than me may have a different opinion though. You say your drag goes crazy when they hit. Maybe it's set too loose? Have you tried tightening it?
  20. I've caught a few on small crankbaits like the SK Bitsy Minnow or the Rebel Crickhopper but I've done much better using live worms.
