Whopper Plopper Hooks
I must've gotten one of the old ones. My hooks bent after two fish.

Whopper plopper
Its my favorite new (to me) lure. I got it in Bumblebee which is Loon but with yellow instead of white. Would've goon Loon if the store I shop at had any left. I tried it out for the first time the other day and got two nice ones on it. I did get a fair bit of weeds on it, but found with a sharp snap of the rod it can dislodge or cut any weeds it picks up. I want to get one in white with a red or orange belly.

Going to look for one of those Fishnkamp, thanks for the pic. Found it on TW, it is not that much either, under $50 for the setup...

How long should it take to charge my 12v TM battery?
Went out to the lake yesterday for 5 hours, was on the TM a lot of it because of wind. I came home and immediately plugged it in and went to work. Came back about 10 hours later and the TM was not fully charged yet. It finished sometime overnight, but I thought it would be quicker than that. Foolishly I didn't take note of how long it took the first few times, though one of them I remember thinking it was taking rather a long time... I have the stock on board charger that came with the Tracker 190, should I be using something more robust or am I just impatient?

No, the water is pretty clear... I'm a new boater and I suck with my TM still. I saw that SOB the whole way... It was like that scene in Austin powers where the guy was standing there waiting for the steam roller to run him over. After thinking about it, I believe the problem was that the deadhead perfectly matched the size of the space between two strakes, which are fairly pronounced on my tracker, and I got wedged on there just perfectly...

- What pliers are you guys using?
I just use hemostats for hook removal and for split rings, my thumbnail.- I think I might just be pretty dumb...
So I've had my new boat out several times now, and each time I've taken it to the same lake - electric only, an impoundment with a ton of trees just under the surface. Each time I've managed, with just my trolling motor and some momentum, to get lodged on one of those trees. The first handful of times I was able to get off by figuring out which side of the boat to go to, having my kids and me lean that way and then get the boat off the tree with the TM... Then today... Got hung up somehow, and no amount of rocking, leaning, putting the TM on maximum etc could dislodge me. My brother and I jumped out and tried to push it off, but in 12 feet of water we had no purchase...Finally I waited for other boats nearby to clear out and just started the engine and popped off after gunning it in reverse... Having never heard or read about this, is this something that happens often, or at least often with a Tracker? My dead rise at the back of the boat is 10 degrees, so it isn't flat by any means, but the V isn't very pronounced either... Maybe it's just my dumb luck. I would hate to one day get caught using my engine on an electric only lake...- Best Sunglasses
I find the the two prizm lenses are nearly identical to the Costa lenses. Prizm Shallow = Costa Green, Prizm Deep = Costa Blue. I've found all four lenses to be too dark in low light for my eyes. That might not be the case for you. For a while I was using my Oakley G30s in the mornings and evenings and the Costa Greens during the brighter hours. Then it got to bee too much of a PIA to carry two sets of glasses and I just use the G30s all day now. I would urge you to go to BPS or Cabelas (or wherever) and try on every lens you can. Sometimes they will let you go outside with the glasses to really get a feel for them. The big stores will also let you return/exchange glasses if you get on the water and you find they don't suit you. This helps save a ton of money...- Fishing Lake Anna
Starting at $80 on Amazon.- Best Sunglasses
I prefer Oakleys, my G30 lenses are the best I've ever looked through. There are tons of lens options for Oakley too, and their new Prizm Shallow lenses and Prizm Deep water lenses are so close to Costa Green and Blue respectively that I cannot tell the difference... The area where Oakleys shine is gripping your head. This factor ought to get more consideration, yet I see little talk about it... Flak Jackets and Half Jackets stay on in all conditions, even when I tip my kayak or when I jump off my boat to cool off... I would never try that with other glasses... My costas are slippery as heck, and I am forced to use sunglasses savers around my neck which I find annoying and distracting as hell. Another issue I have with Costas is that mine (Tuna Alley Frames) fog up all the time... Drives me batty.- Gambler cane toad
These work well with the Ribbit Double Take hooks. Love the colors Gambler has for these frogs. Very underrated bait.- Helix 7 Si Tranducer Question
@#!@$!, crap, gonna have to save up for that now, too. I'm running out of money quick!- How to get into the water for under 100$
Ice Skates. But they only work in the winter up north...- Getting rid of my Transom saver . Anyideas
My stock transom saver is too short, I think, I've rubbed the skeg when I hit a pothole... Would a wedge support work on an aluminum transom? I was under the impression that the transom saver on aluminum boat protected the transom welds as much as the motor hydraulics, so while the hydraulics are protected with a wedge, all the weight and shock absorption are still on the transom welds.- Helix 7 Si Tranducer Question
Thanks Wayne, I was hoping you'd answer, you've got an amazing reservoir of info on the subject.- Helix 7 Si Tranducer Question
New boat guy here with more annoying questions... I have a stock Lowrance 3x Elite that came with my boat, but want something with side imaging... After looking around and weighing what I want against what I can afford, I think the best option for me is the Humminbird Helix 7 SI w/GPS. I see the SI/DI transducer is one piece. Will the DI portion of the transducer be able to function while I am using the motor at speeds to be able to gauge my depth? Or do I need to keep the old unit for when running the motor and throw the Helix up front on the bow? Sorry for the newbie question, there's a ton of conflicting info and I know you guys will cut through the BS...- Most durable frog?
That doesn't sound like the definition of the word problem. I'd happily pay $10 every other trip if I were catching 35 bass per outing.- Throwing in Wacky Rigged Senkos, getting bites, no fish commiting, what do?
Downsize to a smaller senko 4 inches or even 3... Might not catch a bass, but you can put a hurt on the bluegill that are pestering you... Or go to the Ned rig.- crank baits at night
A wakebait at night is one of my favorite ways to fish. I also use traps at night, we used to swear by red colored traps, but they all work...- Goofy "rigs" you've used
