  1. I have a cousin who fishes the same spots with the same lures as I and he doesnt do nearly as well . The main difference , my baits spend a lot more time in the strike zone .
  2. What I find incredible is you using a crankbait .
  3. There are usually several lures that will work well in the cover or structure being targeted. Keep switching up and maybe get lucky .
  4. That looks like the type of vegetation that occurs in local lakes here . It breaks off easily and difficult to fish in . Smells like skunk too . I mainly fish spinnerbaits and buzzbaits around and over it and lightly weighted or no weight Texas rigs in it , like an 8 inch Jelly worm with 1/8th ounce weight .
  5. I doubt that bass in Tennessee spawn this time of year but I am no biologist .
  6. Spinnerbaits are effective fished deep . When fishing deep i like for it to stay close to the bottom so will either hop it like a plastic worm , or after a few turns of the reel handle , let it fall back to the bottom . I prefer single spins with a ball bearing swivel for this type of fishing . A good lure is the Strike King Mini spin with some extra weight added to the hook shank . I use a 1/8th ounce rubber core sinker with the rubber removed and pinch it on . They are also very snag resistant and can be fished where a lot of lures cant . I throw them in lay-downs and brush , then steer them out . You can get them to jump right over logs .
  7. I have Gizits and a couple of other brands . Dont even know what they are . They all work .
  8. A fellow gave me a hard time about keeping bass earlier this year and it got ugly . What was a pleasant day of fishing turned into a heated argument because of some jerk . Dont be like that guy .
  9. I never have fished a lake like the one you described but it sounds tailored made for my favorite lure , the buzzbait .
  10. If I find them shallow I will get right next to the bank and fish parallel . If they are deeper I try to keep the bait in the strike zone the longest .
  11. Of all the things to get ticked off about , a person keeping legal bass in not among them .
  12. I went to the clinic and they borrowed pliers from the maintenance guy .
  13. Its a good addiction .
  14. Looking at the news the east coast is all wet and the west coast is on fire .
  15. I have had some pretty good luck catching suspended bass this season . I've been using Berkely Dredgers , because it takes the guess work out of how deep the lure is and they suspend or float up slowly . I even have one that sinks slowly . I reel it down , sweep it , reel in the slack , repeat...Just this past Tuesday I caught several bass suspended at 12 foot off the side of a point , over 22 foot of water with the 14.5 Dredger .
  16. I dont do this . A lack of imagination? I'm focused on how the lure feels .
  17. No wonder Rick Clunn cant compete any more . Hes one man against teams .
  18. I didnt know there was a difference .
  19. One day I was fishing jigging spoons off the end of a ramp and caught two wrist watches , dip net and rod n reel combo .
  20. I enjoy your write ups . Tear the up next event . I have my fingers crossed .
  21. I use to sell night crawlers as a kid . Picked them up after a rain and kept them in a styrofoam cooler in the cellar . I just used black soil from the backyard and would add coffee grounds . I heard they ate coffee grounds . The worms that sold the best were the green worms i dug out of a creek . They were stiff , brittle and full of poop . Those things I didnt have to try to keep alive , they were in high demand .
  22. You forgot to set the hook .
