  1. Shallow and tight .
  2. Fish the heavy cover set the hook hard and catch some big bass . I dont even know what "High sticking" is .
  3. I learned the hard way about navigating at night . On Mark Twain Lake I have never seen another boat at night , so late one night took off on plain too the boat ramp, the wrong way .
  4. You didnt pick JVD to mess it all up , did you ?
  5. This is the type of tourney I enjoy . Much more interesting than the slug fest going on right now in the FLW . I'm pulling for Fritz , even though hes not on my team . Hes Carolina rigging and fishing a lipless in deep water , which is my style of fishing . Too bad hes out of cel range , I'd like to watch him go at it .
  6. Not on this site . Are you in ant others ?
  7. I have two vintage floating snake heads by Doug Hannon . They go on your line like a bullet weight then add a ribbon tail soft plastic .
  8. At Sabine I had the first and last place angler . Here I have the last place and as right now the first place . I keep cancelling out my good picks with lousy picks .
  9. There is also the parasite weights which will keep the baits from sliding down the hook . They are pretty nifty .
  10. WhatTeam9 wrote .
  11. If the pond your fishing is only 7 foot deep , then the bass are not going to be deeper than that . Fish it all . Hanks talking about bigger bodies of water
  12. You picked him too , huh ?
  13. There is no swimming allowed the lake I fish most often . Doesnt stop me from taking a dip to cool off .
  14. I do this . Then you could weigh it with the fish grip to .
  15. I selected five anglers I never picked before . They all have had good finishes in northern lakes .
  16. I love crankbaits but dont throw them bank fishing .
  17. I went decades without hooking myself , then did it three years straight . All on crankbaits . One was like you , when a lure come flying back . One was from trying to unhook a fish . The other , there was hook sticking out of a closed tackle box and I reached in the satchel to grab it .
  18. I'm not an advocate of using bigger than necessary hooks but in the case of casting weightless worms with a bait-caster , I use big heavy flipping hooks .
  19. Young anglers are at sort of a disadvantage now days compared to when I was a young angler because of all the lure choices they have . Drop shots , wacky rigs , huddlestons , shakey heads , Ned rigs.... the list goes on and on . A cousins kid is getting into bass fishing and he is routinely getting skunked at a lake I routinely catch 50+ fish .He keeps asking about all these lures . I tell him where to go , where the brush and laydowns are and stick with spinnerbaits , buzz-baits , Texas rigs and crankbaits but he still says he struggles to get a couple of dinks . Sometimes you need to forget about all your lure choices and stick with a few that will work well in the conditions you encounter . Over 90 per cent of the time I am either throwing a Texas rig , spinnerbait , buzzbait or crankbait and put them where bass hang out .
  20. On a small 200 acre lake I frequent there isnt much water fluctuation , only a couple of feet . Any stumps that I find off shore are potential bass magnets because the bass have all the time in the world to find them. On lakes with a "lot" of water fluctuation , points and other classic structure are a must . Something for the bass to follow from shallow to deep as the water fluctuates up and down .
  21. How could I leave out the Fat Rap . I use them an awful lot .
  22. Yes . The palomar is so simple to tie that there is no reason not to . Line is only as strong as its weakest point , so check it often and retie when you notice any damage . Just the basses sandpaper like teeth will weaken the line . The Palomar is a 100 percent knot when tied correctly .So is the Trilene .
  23. If you want to drive 100 miles there is Hunnewell lake . They have complimentary 14 foot jon boats . If you can get hold of a battery and elec motor , its a lake with the possibility to catch 70 plus bass and maybe a lunker .
  24. Learn the Palomar knot and retie often . I use the trilene knot for Texas Rigs but the Palomar is slightly easier to tie .
