  1. That old I fish Wiggle warts , Bomber Model A's and Long A's , Norman Deep Little N's , Rogers Big Jim , Rebel Deep Wee R , Original Lunker Lure , Manns Jelly Worms , Fatz Gizzitz , Larew Salt Craw , Pico Pop , Dalton Special and many more . A lot of these lures are still being manufactured .
  2. I fish a lot of discontinued baits .
  3. Its hard to explain. I lift the lure slowly at first as if weighing my line . When I sense the lure is not moving sometimes I set the hook sometimes not . A lot of trips I miss a fish or two at first but usually dont miss many more after that .
  4. I lost one of my favorite crankbaits to a sunken brush-pile I didnt know was there . I made a mental note and fish it with a Texas rig every-time I visit the lake . Its usually good for a fish or two . Do not avoid the snags .
  5. Its much easier to use a short rod for walking baits than long ones . I use old pistol grip 5'6" or 6 " rods .
  6. I also had a big channel cat crush a buzzbait at night .Like you , I thought I had the biggest bass in the state .
  7. As far as deep water at night .I dont think I ever caught one past 10 foot and I have tried . I know some good spots ,just havent hooked up . I'll keep at it and maybe some night it will happen .
  8. Thats what I do . I like to fish shallow points and flats . Being I cant see well enough to fish shoreline cover effectively , I find that shallow points and flats are easy and productive areas to toss lures .
  9. On to Oahe ? Pirch ?Daniels ? J. Lee ? JVD ? R. Lane
  10. Good tourney and nice selection with Ish .
  11. I sit back a little , stretch, rest my back ,look at the scenery , eat a little ... Sometimes a short break is needed to get recharged .
  12. For three decades Texas rigs made up the bulk of my fishing but in the past several I've been using them less . Crankbaits , spinnerbaits , buzzbaits along with Texas rigs have been getting a lot of playing time .
  13. I used KVD squarebills a few times and havent caught much .Switch to another bait and hammer them . So I havent used one for a couple of years . The baits that have out-fished them for me are the Luck E Strike Rick Clunn , Rapala Crankin Rap and vintage Rogers Big Jim .
  14. This is the third time I picked Williamson in two years and he has yet to cash . I really struggle picking bucket E .
  15. , Everyone who has posted there team picked Williamson and Bass-trac has him getting skunked .
  16. One year I decided to become a better top water angler and dedicated at least one hour of every trip to top waters . I had one Dalton Special and that was my most productive lure out of all of them .
  17. I use Rebel Deep Wee R's , Original Lunker Lure , Pico Pop , Bomber Long A , Strike King Rocket Shad , Manns Jelly worm ,Rattlin Thin Fin ..
  18. Rogers Big Jim Squarebill .I would still use a Dalton Special if I had one .
  19. Yes , they work. I caught a lot of crappie on the small ones . There is no reason the larger ones would not work for bass . They glide backwards just like in the infomercials . I have some too that my dad bought for me .
  20. Its timing . Nice and easy and release earlier . Aim at the sun .
  21. The lure knockers wont work from bank but they will from your kayak . You have to get over them to get them to work . When I'm fishing from bank I use inexpensive lures that I dont mind losing . Lots of grubs , pre rigged swimbaits ... that sort of stuff .
  22. Its sure not like that in local lakes . If I cast a crank in the grass its coming back encased in a big old glob of green stuff .I dont what this grass is called .There is no ripping it free like I read about .
  23. I have one with the old aluminum looking hooks . Did you clip the old hooks off and add split-rings ?
