  1. I like the smells and sounds .I'm watching the bassmasrter at Sabine right now and watching the guys fish the canals , hearing the insects and frogs and i can almost smell it . I fish an irrigation canal and it smell's like bull heads . Its one of the best bass spots I know of .
  2. When I was a kid , I loved going into tackle shops and looking at the bass lures . I remember buying my first bass lure , a"Mirro Lure Jointed Catfish" and taking it down to the river too try it out . The action was mesmerizing but never caught a fish on it . I was hooked though .
  3. Largemouth bass are not real bass , rather they are in the sunfish family . I imagine its impossible to have a striper / largemouth hybrid . I agree with Scott F .
  4. Yep, most of the time I swing and miss , it was on a lunker .?
  5. Is this a muddy lake ? When I find the thermocline that shallow its because the water is extremely murky .
  6. I heard he grounded his boat , I guess got stuck and had the marshal get out . I actually enjoy watching this tournament better than the slug fest they usually have .
  7. I usually dont on spinnerbaits usually do on buzzbaits .
  8. If you feel a tap when the lure is falling , reel down and set the hook . If you feel a tap when lifting , you may have just ticked a limb or something .

Only thing I can tell you is I lost my "Fire Tiger" 14.5 Dredger . That wont do . I'm going to Sheels tonight to purchase another .
  10. I have one angler in first and two in the top 10 . Also have the one in dead last and two in the bottom 10 . Sheesh ! Wheeler got disqualified .
  11. The only reason I dont use Beetle Spins much anymore is they snag easily , nothing to do with their fish catching abilities . I dont use those tiny ones either .
  12. Its a natural occurrence in the spring . Dorsal , pelvic , pectorals will all turn red . Yes ,fanning the nest rubs the tail raw but not the dorsals and others .Its a mating thing .
  13. My niece got hit in the head by one of those things while paddling a canoe .
  14. Beetle Spins catch the heck out of bass . They use to make one larger than the 1/4 ounce and it was a fish catcher for sure . I caught a 6 lber on it .
  15. Its because they have a worm in their brain .
  16. I only carry 1 combo with me when I'm bank fishing or wading rivers . If I'm after bass its a bait-caster .

I dont know how to answer the question yes or no . Its worded funny . i think color is important a lot of times . Thats been my experience .
  18. All you guys who are good at skipping , [I am not on casting gear] have you ever skipped a Johnson Silver Minnow ?
  19. " I have a small job to do up by the lake . I might as well go fishing afterwards ."
  20. I usually fish shallower than the thermocline with the thermocline being the deepest I fish . I use a depth finder to locate it and bait fish/shad. The shad where I fish are usually shallower . I like to fish where shad intersect structure .
  21. I like night fishing but it can get frustrating . Depth perception is horrible and casting into the trees is something I am good at .So , I like to fish flats and shallow points where the cast are more random and I'm not casting near the snags as much. The bass will often be there and feeding .
  22. He will probably stink it up because i picked him . He did do well here last tourney and fishes the Potomac river a lot , so I figured him to be a good pick .
  23. Like everyone else I first look for the thermocline .That is the max I will fish . Then I look for a depth in open water that is holding a lot of fish / shad . Often that zone is five to fifteen foot shallower than the thermocline . I then like to hit long points at the depth those open water fish are showing up with deep diving cranks , lipless cranks and soft plastics . Its nothing to catch 50 bass on one spot . Red Eye Shads hopped on the bottom of those areas is one of my favorite tactics . Catching suspended bass over deep channels or in deep tree tops is something I have never done .
