Thats really tough . You have to find water out of the current . If there are creeks dumping into it that are no flowing heavily , then lookthre . If the creeks also have a lot of current , then I dont know .

When I pitch with casting gear I use a minimum 5/16th ounce bullet weight .

Best bang for the buck ? The least expensive spinnerbaits with ball bearing swivels . Luck E Strike Buzzbaits . Luck E Strike soft plastics . Bomber crankbaits .

I use a 7 foot medium graphite rod for the small to medium lures and 7 foot med hvy graphite for the 25.5 just because thats what I have . The 25.5 is a little to heavy for my rod but I dont throw that particular lure all that much .

A channel cat will obliterate a lipless crankbait .

Now are we talking zilch ? Not even a 10 incher ? If were talking 15 inch keepers it happens . If were talking any bass , give me eight hours on the lakes I frequent and 99 per cent of the time i'll catch at least one .

My insurance agent has a four lb bass mounted in his office and he believes its an 8 lber LOL . Hes not lying , hes just not good at estimating .

Weightless Senko or other stick worms work well and cast well without weight . Frogs , weedless spoons ... A lot depends on the type of vegetation . Anything you can cast into it and work it out would be a good option to try .

Lure selection gets easier with experience . There are usually several lures that will work in the conditions encountered . Try to select lures that will work through the cover or structure you are facing . Probably the most common form of cover we fish is wood . Texas rigs , jigs , spinnerbaits and buzzbaits excel at wood . They come through with a minimum of snags . Spinnerbaits and buzzbaits can actually jump logs . Rip rap ,different vegetation ... have there own sets of lures that fish well . Just have to try to make good decisions , make good cast and fish long enough to stumble onto something that is working .

I always reserved night fishing for July and august . As hot as it has been around here I'll have to start earlier in the year just to get out .

The only time I get skunked on a lake that has a good population is under extreme conditions like , flooded muddy water , cold muddy water .... Keep in mind that I'm usually out there for 8 hours . I got skunked last Monday but it was so hot that I quit after ten minutes .

i catch dinks by the dozen with average sized lures .

I have caught about twenty in my life . I like catching them .

I think pitching from bank is difficult .Its a lot easier on a raised platform . I have to use a shorter line , right elbow higher and kind of shoot it out there when pitching from bank or the bottom of a jon boat .

Of course , a person doesnt need every lure but sometimes bass are finicky .

Texas rigs , crankbaits , spinnerbaits , and top waters get over 90 percent of playing time .

As long as it has a quality ball bearing swivel they all work well . I dont use the wal-mart 1 dollar specials and other super cheap baits because the blades dont spin on the drop .

I love Manns Jelly worms but a hooked tail worm rigged with the curl down will fight line twist . I have lot of success on Mister Twister Phenoms and the Luck-E-Strike from Wal-Mart .

I quit fishing local tournaments all together because of two other competitors boats pulling up and fishing the buoys I tossed so I know where Randy is coming from . But to go home when you are winning , wow .

A couple of years ago I saw a black bear looking at me from top of a cliff. There are no known bears in this part of Missouri . I had my camera out ready to take pictures and be famous .Then it moved and turned out to be a cow .

It looks like you at standing on cover . There might be some nice bass straight down and under .

I didnt read the whole tread but will add this . If theres a big hairy biped out there , dont you think that good hunting dogs would have done cornered one ? I cant imagine a bigfoot going un-molested with a pack of plot hounds in the neighborhood .
