  1. If my team performs worse today i will be joining the 500 point club .
  2. This last time the treble was sticking out of a tackle box with the lid latched .I reached in the satchel to remove the box .
  3. They are excellent post spawn lures . I dont have the Bagleys but have a half dozen of the discontinued Bomber version . Just work them different ways and see if it works . Sometimes I twitch it as fast as I can and stil remain in contact with the surface .
  4. My latest installment . Three years in a row . I pushed it through and snipped it off . Those dredger hooks are too sharp .
  5. Took my second trip of the year and second in two days . Today it was sunny with a north wind at 5 to 10 mph and air temp at about 65 . The bass were still shallow on wood and I caught them on the same Strke King Spin Dance spinnerbait as yesterday . I got in one heck of an argument with some guy who claimed they were not 15 inches . I was at the cleaning station and he was in his boat . I filleted one and tossed the carcass out in front of him and told him "to measure that one " . LOL that made him mad and he was a big SOB . He beached his boat and I thought uhoh. He grabbed his measuring board and started measuring my fish . After he measured them and saw they were legit he then lectured me about catch and release . I just kept right on filleting .
  6. 4-25-18 First trip of the year . 200 acre lake northern Missouri . Overcast sky high temperature 63 degrees , wind out of the NE at 8 to 15 MPH. Water temp mid 50's with one foot of visibility .All fish were caught off shallow wood with a chartreuse Strike King Spin Dance spinnerbait . I also tried a chatterbait , various crankbaits , worm and jig .
  7. Sometimes they will take it deep , most of the time no problem .
  8. I use poppers and little sinking honey bee flies . I was fishing one day and noticed a lot of honey bees in the shore-line flowers and remember having a couple in this little kit i bought . The bluegills tore them up .
  9. I love carp fishing and have come up with a fool proof rig that I use on a 7'6" bait casting rod and reel . I carolina rig it with a heavy weight and swivel . The first component on the short leader is a bobber stop . Then run the line through a piece of plastic stripped from electrical wire . Then run the line through the eye of an octopus hook and tie it to a small treble hook that has the barbs crimped . Slide the plastic over the octopuss hookk and tighten the rig down with the bobber stop . Add dough ball to the treble , cast out , place in well secured rod holder and tighten the line . This is a bolt rig . You want the carp to feel the weight and tight line .The carp will hook itself . Heres a couple of pictures . Much simpler than it sounds . A doughball made from Wheaties cereal works well . How it works : Carp are extremely spooky , so use that trait to your advantage . Chum the area you are fishing with the same bait . Carp will inhale the dough ball and in doing so the octopus hook too .It will then feel that something is not right . He will then blow it out and bolt at the same time . The Octupus hook usually gets him . The treble is used mainly as a bait holder but it will hook the carp at times too, that is why I smash the barbs , to avoid tearing up the carps mouth . This is exciting fishing and will lay the rod straight . It better be in a good holder or you will lose the rod . I never could tie one of those hair rigs , popular by carp anglers in Europe , so one day at camp I came up with this . It exceeded expectations .
  10. Its a process of elimination . You eliminated tubes on drop-offs and had some luck casting squarebills . Could you have done better making other changes ? Who knows .

  12. You ever read" A Day ON the Lake with a Pro " in Bassmmaster magazine ? They keep trying different things until they come up with something , just like an average Joe .
  13. I was going to mention Honey B but didnt know if they still made them .
  14. It could work with a straight retrieve or erratic .
  15. I sometimes adjust the drag while fighting a fish .

I have a lot of lures that i never used . I think your plan is going to cause you to catch fewer fish . You cant force fish to eat a lure .
  17. Most of the time when I'm fishing a grub it is exactly like a worm and colors as well . I also like to rig them on a 1/16th ounce head and buzz them on top .
  18. Sometimes you have to keep the rod tip low in a heavy wind and try to keep it pointing straight into the wind . Lots of people recommend using the lightest weight possible , I'm the opposite . When fishing with my uncle he rarely went over 1/8th ounce and I rarely used a 1/8th or smaller . I caught at least 5 x more bass than him .
  19. Get good at it and you will be a different angler for the better .Most lures that sinks can be bounced along the bottom .
  20. My lineup A: Litner B; Reese C: B Lane D: Morris E: Combs
  21. A six lb bass around here is a really nice fish . I think the more bass I catch the better my chances of hooking one , so I mainly use med sized baits and go for bites .
  22. I dont use a clacker . I make the baits squeal . If it wont squeal , I leave it at the lake for someone else to find and use .
  23. The worst one I saw was a boat lying on the boat ramp . I didnt want to ask how that happened .
  24. Yes , Wiggle Warts work in the summer .
