  1. The hooks are going to rattle also .
  2. Usually anything that sinks into the rocks is lost . A trick that I use is a jig with a plastic body much thicker than the leadhead . That way the plastic becomes wedged and its much easier to pull free than a lead weight . A skinny Road Runner head works well with piece of Yum Dinger . Its not fool-proof but I lose fewer baits that way .
  3. If I'm catching fish and they are solidly hooked , I'm probably going to keep doing whats working . If I'm barely hooking fish or the fish keep blowing the lure out , then I'll start experimenting and color is one of the first things i'll change . I've seen plenty of times where a color change was the difference between hooking bass deeply , or barely hooked . I'm not good at predicting what color to start with .
  4. In the spring or muddy water I love those colors . In the summer and clearer water i have a hard time getting bites on spinnerbaits . Then I go with more muted colors and smaller blades .
  5. I only use EWG's when I have to , like with tubes .
  6. I noticed that . Thought maybe you tapped out .
  7. When I was fairly new to bass fishing , I was on the water talking to one of the more successful anglers on this lake and fellow club member . I asked him if he ever caught much on this nothing looking bank and his reply was "No , there is nothing over there ." That was several decades back and I catch lots of bass on that bank .

  9. I dont recall ever having a Rapala crankbait break but only use two models . The Fat Rap and Crankin Rap .
  10. Hold the rod tip high to keep them shallower .
  11. No one can really tell you how to catch those bass but you were close . Either those bass followed your lure or they were there when the lure came by . You'll just have to figure it out . Sounds like they hit near the surface , maybe a shallow , suspending jerk bait ?
  12. They cant go far . The question is hard to answer but you ought to be able to fish it all relatively fast .
  13. This keeps up , I will not find any morel mushrooms .
  14. Twice . Once an uncle and I were on the fish hot and heavy , he helped me land a nice bass . In the mean time he laid his rod down with the lure hanging over . When he got back to where he laid the rod , it was gone . Another time I was canoeing with a lure dangling in the water and a smallmouth hit it and jerked it in the water . I lunged and grabbed it and in doing so flooded the canoe .
  15. Go with popular colors . On crankbaits I usually use whichever one I get untangled first , seriously .
  16. I dont have one but noticed they were in the clearance bins pretty fast .
  17. I use to be strictly catch and release but after thinking it over , bass are a renewable resource . I am not a game-hog and dont load the freezer for a big fish fry . I keep enough that a few times a year , I'll make a meal for my immediate family and take a few pieces to my parents who are in their 80's and really appreciate them .
  18. Its seems funny watching pros weigh in 12 inch 3/4 lb bass from all these famous lakes when we have 15 inch limits .
  19. Although this is a real occurrence , most of the time the fish just are not biting like mad and there are long lull's . You have to enjoy fishing and not catching or will quickly get bored to death with it . But if you stick with it and use not catching as a learning experience you will have plenty of days where the bass bite like mad . But this is the bass's decision not the anglers .
  20. Give a man a fish feed him for a day Teach a man to fish and say bye another good fishing spot .
  21. If all of a sudden there is sudden influx of floaters or sparks of light in peripheral vision or both , get to the eye Dr now .I had torn retinas in both eyes , six months apart , two years ago . Had surgery on the spot and am lucky I didnt have total detachment .
  22. With all the additions in the Texas rig technique including lizards , creatures , beavers , craws , ewg hooks , pegging . The three piece worm , hook and sinker is still number one . The best bass fishing spot I have access to and it is public , bass boats cant access .
  23. When I started bass fishing 5'6" was the standard . I went to the local tackle shop and ordered components to make a 6'0" rod and the owner couldnt understand why I wanted a rod so long .
