Bass dont hit our lures 100 per cent of the time they see them , Every single one of us has often experienced bass coming up to our lures and not committing . So a statement like " i catch bass on heavy line in clear water therefore bass cannot possibly be line shy " is flawed .

Make sure the lures you have fall within the rods rating . If fishing from bank many people including I , prefer to take one rod .

I have had similar experiences enough so much so that it is beyond a reasonable doubt that bass "can become" line shy .

Post spawn , I would try some points with cranks and worms . I dont know what its like in texas but here , if i can figure out the depth the shad are by watching the depth finder theres a good chance that bass will be set up at that depth on points . Its a pretty simple way to fish .

I have fished it a few times and never had a lot of luck and cant explain why . It has a reputation for being a poor bass lake . Nearby Thomas Hill on the other hand , has been my best lake for numbers of keepers . But beware , we always called it "The bowl that blows . " It gets windy there and not a lot of wind breaks . They are so close that you could fish both and Hazel Creek that Blue mentioned .

Makes no difference to me , because i dont palm a reel anyway . I use whatever is in best working condition . I have a few older round ambassadeurs still , the only reason I dont use them is because my newer reels are smoother .

Thats a smart way to do it . I like to use 17 lb test clear blue fluorescent mono on my worm rod because i'm a line watcher . Most other applications on casting equip I use 12 lb green mono to best match the local water color .

Shad are fragile , easily stunned and a much easier meal than a healthy sun-fish . I still use use an awful lot of chartreuse patterns though . I like to watch my depth finder for the depth shad are congregated in open water , then move to the points and fish that depth . A lot of times I catch a bass on the first cast . Some people think you cant catch big bass among the dinks but give it time , when fishing the "shad pattern" on points its not unusual to hook a hawg after catching a bunch of small bass .

Use 50 lb test high visibility line , and march right up there and start casting big baits because bass are to stupid to be spooked .

I'm familiar with slot limits , I mean once a bass reaches a certain length then they are protected . Maybe allow 1 in case someone catches a trophy they want mounted .

I would like to see an experimental limit where bass under a certain size are legal , say 15 inches . Tournaments still be able to continue as long as they are C&R .

I cast naturally . Dont know exactly where the handle is . I dont want to make several thousand cast a year in an unnatural position . i'm prone to tendinitis and joint ailments .

I think the more invisible the line the more bites , especially in clear water . Doesnt mean you still cant catch them on rope .

Fishing reports are in the past .

Cavitrons are good baits but have a pretty light wire , so are not the most durable .I would buy the three pack from Luck E Strike that Wal Mart carries .

I've seen Thomas Hill bass get quite picky a couple of times .Once , I was fishing with a guy who was wearing them out on a Bomber Model A . I tried a bunch of other crankbaits and zilch . Finally tied on a Model A and got in the game . Color didnt matter this day but lure action did .

A common question on this site is what lure to use when fishing is tough . There are a lot of reasons a person is not catching fish and often the lure has little to do with it .For example , I just watched a Youtube video with Jason Christie and he had just weighed in a nice bag . He stated the fishing was tough and he only had two fish late in the day . He pulled into the right cove at the right time and caught the final three keepers . Having a lure that will work for the conditions encountered is paramount but there are so many variables that answering the question "what lure to use when the fishing is tough" is difficult . Like the elderly Indian on the movie The Outlaw Josie Wales said " endeavor to persevere " translated " keep on keeping on "

Describe the water . Is there grass , trees , rocks , a dam .... is it round , irregular , clear, dirty...

When all else fail I'm going to double down on heavy cover with whatever lure I deem necessary. Usually a texas rig .

The two lures that have constantly caught better than average size bass for me have been a jig n pig and Bomber Long A Minnow . For grass , hands down , a weightless Yum Swurm .
