  1. I have some cedar I will send you . I'm finished making lures .
  2. If my stuff was stolen and I had to replace it quickly , heres what I would get . Rapala Crankin Rap square bill for shallow cranking a Berkely Dredger in each size and some Strike King Red Eye Shads . That would cover all depths 1 to 25 foot for the divers and the Red Eye can be fished any depth .
  3. I bought a pro qualifier combo a few years back for 100 dollars . It was well worth it . I saw the new combo on sale for 119 and the only thing keeping me from buying one is there is no foregrip on the rod . i require one .
  4. I do think colors matter but I dont fish Spooks enough to have a preference . I have two colors frog and chrome .
  5. I used the Spring Lizard the most .
  6. I bet those things were a booger to cast .
  7. For deeper darker waters the chrome/blue has been a killer for me .
  8. My grandpa on the left and old man Sims . Grandpa use to come and get me before the sun rose and we would sit on the bank of the Mississippi trying for a carp or channel cat . I dont remember ever catching a fish but I remember eating cinnamon rolls .
  9. Where you fishing , Ben Miller? That makes a huge difference .
  10. I have to eat to keep sugar levels up . I'm hypoglycemic . I'll take a sandwich and a bag of Snickers and nibble on it throughout the day .
  11. Describe where you will be fishing . Boat or shore . Rod and reels... The more info you give the better advice you will receive
  12. Bluegill and dang good eating .
  13. If we get one more warm day with light wind I'm going . Has to be light wind because the boat is winterized and I will be fishing from a small craft but the fishing should be good.
  14. LOL . Hey want to come to a fish fry ? Bring a bunch of crappie fillet's over and we will have one .
  15. They might be deep . I've had lots of fall trips catching bass in deep water . First place I'll most likely check is a point and will probably hit it with a long billed crank like a Berkely Dredger , Wiggle Wart , Deep Wee R ... then work my way shallow and right up to the back of the creek .
  16. Whatever is lying on the boat floor .
  17. I use them both plus the Silent . My favorite is a Silent with a loose weight that knocks like the Two Tap . I had a day out on a point where I was catching fish lifting and dropping a regular RES until the bite slowed way down , switched to the Silent and the hits picked right back up .
  18. Everytime I complain to my wife it back fires . She has a lot more to complain about than I . That remind me . Its about time for my 10 year ass chewing .
  19. I dont know the brand but I use one I bought at wal mart that clips on the bill of a hat . It also has a red light that I use a lot . Then I'll keep a brighter light or two in my pocket .
  20. One of the best bass fishing articles I ever read as a young angler was by Rick Clunn on lure selection in which he describes lures as tools and select the proper tool for the job . It had me thinking about choices and has guided me through several decades of bass fishing . Before selecting a lure think about what you need a lure to do .
  21. I make sure they are making bottom contact . Not a lot deep of brush where I fish , Lots of stumps though . No challenge for a plug knocker . Getting tangled in fishing line is what gets me .
  22. I'd quit using the Chugging Spook . I havent used a walking bait in years because of all the missed strikes that comes with them .
  23. I hit a hot spot a few years back and so far have pulled over a hundred old coins from the area . Heres a thread on a detecting forum from the first few trips there in that valley . http://www.findmall.com/read.php?17,1644296,1644296#msg-1644296
  24. It might be extremely tough . My best success when fishing rapidly rising water is to fish points .The fish are there . They might be holding in the same spot before the flood . Say you were catching them 5 foot deep then it raised 5 foot , they may stay at ten foot . Or they may be up if newly flooded areas . Other places to look for is rip rap , boat ramps , flooded pond dams and saddles .
