  1. Those type of spinnerbaits are not made to be used with a snap .
  2. I leave it free . So i can position it if I'm fishing off the right , side , left side or seated .
  3. I wanted a Deep V Lund bad but had to compromise plus they were to tall to fit in my garage . I had two bass boats in the past , then went boat-less for a few years . In that time I fished from a canoe , small plastic boat and jon boat .My wife said it was time for her to get a boat that she liked and kept mentioning a pontoon . Noooo! I searched the internet and found a 22 foot Lowe Deck boat in great condition .The wife loves it and it doesnt fish to bad .The high sides catch wind , so it can be difficult to control on windy days when trying to fish shallow cover . The worst thing about it is bass fishermen in their tournament boats dont think twice about cutting me off because obviously I dont know what I'm doing and must be perch jerker , fishing out of a craft like that . LOL Good luck on your purchase , I'm envious .
  4. I used two of them Memorial day the 10.5 and 14.5 . The lake is high and muddy so it was not idea deep cranking conditions . Like NHBull said , they seem to dive steeply and both ran true . The 10.5 was hitting bottom at 8 foot and the 14.5 was touching at 12 foot . They have a tight action and feel good . The profiles are a little smaller than similar running baits but they are a little wider . Theres a lot of weight there to be thrown a long ways . I only caught two white bass , I'll hit the points this summer when the water clears up . Edit : Using 12 lb Big Game .
  5. I fish a 200 acre 50 year old lake .The timber was left in but is no longer visible. Its almost impossible to target unless the water is low . Most of the channels are silted in . It was void of vegetation because of the introduction of grass carp , last year coon tail grass showed up in the shallows . A thirty fish day here is a bad day . Fifty is the norm . One hundred is not unusual . I fish a major point , shoreline cover , sunken brush-piles the remnants of the creek channel in one section . I keep my eyes glued to a depth finder because sometimes I'll run across a school of bass feeding on shad . These fish are often found near the mouth of one of the five major coves . Crankbaits , spinnerbaits , buzzbaits , and Texas rigs pretty much cover it all . There are rare days where another lure is needed such as a jerk bait , floating minnow or soft swim bait .
  6. A: Defoe B: Combs C: Rook D: Klein E: Grigsby
  7. I actually spent a little more time picking for this tourney and changed my original picks . I expect some of the veterans are going to do well . Klein has a whole bunch of top ten finishes at Dardenelle and the Arkansas river .
  8. I fish a lake that does not have much water fluctuation . The bass will find deep cover and occupy it even if its on a barren bottom . Another lake I fish the water fluctuates greatly and frequently . There are some nice humps out in the middle of no-where with no path to the shallows and there are zero largemouth bass that occupy them . On that lake the bass will go deep on points , tree-lines , fence-rows , road beds... but there has to be that follow-able path .
  9. It just amazes me how many people are afraid of snakes . How many of you actually know someone who has been bitten by a venomous snake . I know of nobody . Its unheard of around here and we have plenty of Timber rattlers and Copperheads . Or even a non-venomous one .
  10. What kind of fish is this ? It doesnt look like a drum .
  11. Points . They are a classic structure that are usually easy to see jutting out in the lake . Follow the bank contour out in the water . Crankbaits work extremely well . You want them to hit bottom . If a crank quits hitting then go to a deeper model . You could get one each in a series such as the Berkely Dredger and cover the water column from eight to twenty foot . Any lure that sinks can be fished off the bottom . I like to bounce Strike King Red Eye Shads on deep points . I cant stress enough how important marker buoys are. Toss one every time you hook up , or feel cover . If you dont then you will drift away from the spot and it will be difficult to find again . Its not unusual for me to catch up to fifty bass from one spot on a point and the bass only be on that one spot .
  12. I went and got skunked . It wasnt the boaters , I just made all the wrong decisions . The lake was high and muddy and all caught were a few white bass . It was actually my first real time out this year . I might not get back out for awhile . Health reasons . I have my fingers crossed .
  13. I have had plenty bad days like everyone else fishing after a cold front . I also have had good days . I dont pay any attention to pressure and go fishing as long as its not uncomfortably cold or windy . Often times a tough bite picks up in the afternoon .
  14. I dont often fish poppers but when I do , usually a lot of a commotion is made .
  15. Snakes . Its part of being outdoors .
  16. Wait , I thought Senkos made everybody equal .
  17. I dont take tons of tackle , so i'm often removing and replacing skirts . I use bands .
  18. Tuning buzzbaits is a skill I've yet acquired . I just straighten the wires out the best I can and take advantage of the direction they run . Cavitrons have thin wire and have to constantly be bent back into shape . Bump them into everything . On a good buzzbait bite I like to have a left and right runner tied on .
  19. Only two packages . I'll be out of baits by 10 . Those seven inch worms will turn into six inches , then five. Just kidding , they should last me til noon . I always wanted to fish a tourney like that . Everyone has to fish the same lure . Of course knowledge ,confidence , and experience is more important than lure . I think every body except maybe beginners depend on experience and knowledge .
  20. Aug 21 , 2017 . A total solar eclipse . I live 100 mile away from the epicenter . I wonder how good the fishing will be for those two and a half minutes .
  21. Make sure you use lures within your rod and reel recommendations . In your case that would be light weight baits . Have good line spooled and go fishing . Inexpensive jigs will catch fish every where . Dont overlook Marabous , twister tails, Sassy Shads ... One of the largest bass I ever landed was on a 1/16th ounce yellow marabou crappie jig . I also like to trim the feathers of a marabou and add a contrasting twister tail trailer . A black jig / chartreuse trailer is dynamite . Its a good idea to have some of those cheap spinners like what is on a Beetle Spin , to add some vibration and flash to small jigs . They can be bought separately . I have a five piece travel spinning rod and reel with a teeny tackle box under my truck seat .The only lures in that box are jigs and beetle spins . I stop all over the place and catch fish with it . Irrigation ditches , lake dams , small and large rivers ...
  22. I stay within the reel recommendations . That reel is rated for 2 , 4 and 6 lb mono. I would go with 6 lb and Triene xl is an excellent choice .
  23. Just use lighter versions of what you usually use .
  24. For cutting string I use a sharp knife . Either the blade on a Leatherman or a pocketknife . My blades are always razor sharp .
