  1. I'll try that . I dont like the double hooks but they are good lures .
  2. For White Bass I choose Strike King Rocket Shads . If you do go that route wrap a little wire around the double hook because I've had two or three come off during the fight .
  3. Ive read where anglers use a piece of frayed rope to catch them .Works like the towel on a spinnerbait .Their teeth become entangled in it .
  4. I want to add a fore grip to a Falcon Bucco with micro-guides . Is that doable ? I have never built or altered a rod before .
  5. I use the C-rig with a 3/4 ounce weight to cover deep water fast .
  6. Bass Pro use to sell a temperature/ light meter with a probe on a long cable . I used it a lot and it was a valuable tool for me . The answer is no . The temp drops the deeper it gets . Right at the thermocline [if there is one] the temp and the light drops at a much greater curve . It was so predictable that i quit using it when there was a thermocline present .
  7. Fish it while you can . more people will start showing up and trash the place , then it will be a problem . Thats what happened to our sub-division lake .
  8. I'll tell you what my wife always tells me . "Way to go ' Slicko ."
  9. A friend of mine got stuck taking some guys from work crappie fishing and he hated it . I took my boat and had a limit of bass in about an hour .I hunted him down and 1 by 1 pulled them out of the livewell and released them in front of him before heading off to catch some more . Next day I kept complaining about how bad my bass thumb was . LOL . He's a good sport and laughs about it .
  10. Thats quite the contraption there .
  11. I got a heck of a deal on a 6'10" Falcon Bucco pitching rod with micro guides . Snagged it up as fast as I could without noticing there was no fore grip . I put a reel on it and tried it in the back yard . Nope dont like it . I guess I have a rod to trade now or figure out a way to add a fore grip . Have any of you ever added a fore grip to a finished rod ? It does have micro-guides .
  12. Gars are cool . Unfortunately a lot of dunderheads around here toss them on the bank to die .
  13. Does first bass of the day count ?
  14. Ignore those bass you can see and concentrate on casting to cover .
  15. I like VMC's offsets because of the degree of bend at the offset I can rig the bait straight and get minimum line twist . EWG's i just use whatever .
  16. The Missouri conservation dept starts out by adding bluegill and channel cats to a new pond then a year or two later they add bass . Like Yeajray231 said , its probably a good idea to get forage started first .
  17. I have made good cover out of old wood pallets .
  18. Rt J reservoir by Twain is a good lake and you might get your pb there . Vandalia has two lakes . One I have fished and caught a whole bunch of dinks . The other I havent fished . Its next to a limestone quarry and I heard it has huge crappie . If thats true it should have huge bass . Driving to it there a sign that has the fishing regulations on it . All that is listed are channel cats LOL .. I have a gut feeling there are some big bass it it . Ted Shanks use to have a lot of big bass / But since the 96 flood , I havent caught anything . I havent fished it for years now and it may have recovered . I dont know if this will work. This is a google Earth link. The Vndalia reservoir is hard to find . https://earth.google.com/web/@39.37492531,-91.4105908,215.82566515a,1813.3065319d,35y,-0h,0t,0r
  19. I would place fallen hardwoods on prime structure . It will draw the fish and be much easier to fish than pines or cedar .
  20. Bass fishermen have gravitated to the largest hooks they can get away with . I dont know if this is good or bad . If I'm using a thin six inch worm I wont hesitate to tie on a thin wired off-set 1/0 hook , as long as it is twice the diameter of the lure . It penetrates through the worm and the basses mouth very easily . Just a couple of days ago I was knocking the snot out of bass , 14 foot deep in a strong wind with little hooks .
  21. Mister Twister use to make a spinnerbait with a three way swivel . I have one somewhere . Two blades are attached and it creates a lot of drag . A willow and Colorado could be used . I'll get a picture if I find it .
  22. Theres a lake by Bowling Green that is not accessible by car . Kayak users pull their kayaks up the dam . I have talked to two of them and they say it is a fantastic lake . I'm to old and out of shape to do that . Its a large dam and appears to be a 50 acre lake . There are two lakes actually , for the Bowling Green water supply . One has a boat ramp and gets fished a lot more .
  23. Stopped at a Gander Mountain yesterday , they have a store wide closeout sale going on . Picked up another 10.5 , 14.5 , and 17.5 in bluegill colors . Wanted a crankbait rod for larger baits but they didnt have anything left I liked .
  24. Use a three way swivel .
