  1. Thermoclines puzzle me sometimes . Three weeks ago it was at 17 foot in a 200 acre lake I fish . The lake took on a couple of heavy rains since then and yesterday it was 10 foot . The lake wasnt muddy and the level remained the same . Fascinating .
  2. I have a lot of go to baits . For fishing rip rap and dykes on the Mississippi I like the Bomber Flat A and Strike King Rocket shads and a host of others. Small streams Rocket Shads , plastic craws tubes , buzzbaits.. . The same stuff I use in lakes .
  3. I cut and retie my line often and I want a full spool .Usually i change line when I feel it gets low enough to hamper casting distance . I never let it get to half spool .
  4. For mono I use the trilene knot almost exclusively . Sometimes I'll tie a palomar on a spinnerbait that has a loop line tie . I've had those loops loosen a trilene knot a few times .
  5. The Renegade craw was a favorite of mine .
  6. My cousin and I anchored on the same windy point for two days a and won a 500 boat buddy tournament . Tom Mann was the guest emcee .
  7. The lake I fished today had a nice stain to it . A Tequila sunrise " laminated purple "was the only color I caught fish on . After catching a few I switched to chartreuse pumpkin no bites , Went back to purple and caught fish again . Later I tried straight black with no luck . Some days color makes a big difference . I used the search function for worm color .I did not realize this was a five year old thread . LOL
  8. Todays the first day back since I buried a treble hook in my thumb . I took no chances . The bench seat had a new fish grip , needle nose pliers , Leatherman , and hemostats laying on it . They all got used . In my bag were side cutters and a new split ring tool .
  9. Thats what I use on shallow divers .
  10. Just bought a spool of Big Game there yesterday .
  11. I think they are all pretty much the same . Except the cheap Wal-Mart ones . They are junk .. Look at how the blades turn and get two lures . One that turns each direction , that way you will have baits that run left and right . The original Lunker Lure turns opposite of most other baits . On a good buzzbait bite I will have both rigged up . Colors , my favorite is the old 40 count rubber in yellow or chartreuse. Now comes the onslaught of black Cavitron suggestions . .
  12. Yeah , but can you tell what kind of fish .
  13. I would love to have a set of custom rods built . I like a beefier fore-grip and a shorter handle than what comes equipped on most rods . My favorite rod is an old Berkely Titanium , it just fits me . It's my 6'8'' worm rod. Twice I bought rods to replace it but I keep switching back .
  14. When someone post that they are having trouble catching fish most everyone recommends slowing down . Speeding things up is often the right move .
  15. I have some thirty to thirty five year old Strike Kings with the straight lines on the blades .
  16. I think Pea gravel would be a bass magnet. The lake appears silted in. If it is than gravel should be ideal in my opinion .
  17. If it doesnt get fished then the points would be the idea place . Structure with cover is what bass anglers strive to find . I can see a half dozen points or more .
  18. If you sink them on points they will get fished by everyone . I would place them where people wont find them unless by accident .
  19. The gold color could be enhanced by camera setting's .
  20. LOL .They can fool you . I have caught sticks in the middle perfectly balanced so they wiggle like a fish .
  21. I wear scrips so cant comment on brand but on color , amber is what i always wear . They just separate everything , make the shadows deeper. Its like they enhance 3D viewing .
  22. In this situation I Texas rig heavy worm ,a strong over-sized hook and no weight .
  23. Another lure that I possess but never used .
  24. Did you know there was another dam below Mark Twain lake that has a good bass population . Google Earth it . Its several miles long with a light current most of the time . Two boat ramps . One below Mark twain and another at Cincinnati Landing on a gravel road . Very scenic in Autumn and the bass bite well there late October early November .
