  1. Those are VMC Round Bends and they come like that .
  2. In-fisherman defines offset as the point not on the same plain as the shank . Ive always called the Eagle Claw 295JB "the original" offset . http://www.in-fisherman.com/gear-accessories/all-about-hooks/
  3. I remember trolling down a bank and seeing hundreds of thousands of bass fry . I know they were bass because I caught several males guarding them . Do you think that if the majority of those baby bass just disappeared , there would still be approximately the same number of fish reach a year in age ? I'm thinking so but can never be certain .The bigger the spawn the lower the percentage will survive , the less the spawn the greater the percentage .
  4. DOA also makes a short shank jig head , I recently purchased some . I like to use the Mister Twister Sassy Shads and the shorter the shank the more the bait vibrates . I have always bent and shortened standard crappie jig hooks to get the lures to vibrate much like a lipless crankbait . I'm hoping the DOA's will do the same thing .
  5. So as far as Blade forum is concerned , the next worm hook thread that pops up , everyone will be on board with a standard offset worm hook .
  6. Good enough for me . I just wanted to be on the same page as every one else .
  7. All good points , especially comparing a small pond to a huge lake . I can see where a heavily pressured pond is a lot more vulnerable than a massive lake .
  8. Every one knows what EWG's and straight shanks are . What is the correct terminology for this classic design ? Its not offset . Offset means the point is not inline with the shaft .
  9. Is this stuff still available ? I dont know if Real Craw elicits more bites but in my experience fish dont want to let go of baits when its applied .
  10. A lake can only handle so many adult bass . A very small percentage of fry are ever going to survive . The sheer volume of hatchlings ensures that there will be a next generation in a number that the habitat can support . Around here its changing water levels , that can most likely have a profound impact on the number of fish that make it too adolescence . My opinion not fact .
  11. I cant even see the beds most of the time . If they bed near shallow cover than I'm fishing beds inadvertently .
  12. Taj Majal has a version of this too .
  13. Buzzbaits , worms , spinnerbaits , jigs , spooks and crankbaits have worked for me .
  14. I cant pitch effectively with anything less than 1/4 . 5/16th is what I usually use .
  15. I'm a recreational fisherman and stock hooks work well enough for me . If I have to replace them i use inexpensive Mustad or VMC round bends . Some lures require short shanks because the hangers are to close . I fish hard baits a lot and dont see need to mass replace the hooks .
  16. whoops , wrong thread .
  17. Club tournaments , I always gave the non boater plenty of opportunities . If we were going down a bank we took turns making first cast at cover. It was a fun competition and him or i better make the first cast count because it is open game after that . Three anglers won tourneys from the back seat of my boat . I didnt care who won as long as it came from my boat . I also won two times from the back .
  18. Hahaha . My twenty year old is batting 1.000 too . When he was about ten we went on a seven mile canoe trip . He never did like fishing anyways , I rigged up half a Tiki Stick on a jig head and handed him the rod . He made one cast , caught a sallmouth put the rod down and went swimming . He hasnt fished since . Just doesnt like it .
  19. On 1/8th ounce lures , do you add two hooks or one and what size ?
  20. That may or may not be true , I dont know . Lightly run a EWG and a standard hook across your arm and see which one digs in best . ohihunter2014 Whichever hook you choose line it up with the worm before rigging and observe how it lies . Some hooks are best skin hooked and some buried . EWG's are usually skin hooked, standard buried . Personally I prefer to bury the point .
  21. I pick hooks with gaps twice as thick as the worm . Most of the baits i use dont require EWG's .
  22. The 1/8th ounce Rattle Trap catches a lot of fish but the hooks are too small . I lost a giant bass with one . Rick Clunn uses them and replaces the hooks with one larger one . I dont know the size , maybe a number 6 . I like to use the chartreuse one along standing timber edges on lightly windy summer days .
  23. Join a lure collectors forum and show it off . I did that with a 1940,s bicycle that was in my parents attic and got 400 dollars for it ,without the handlebars chain and chain guard . .
  24. Wow , good score .
