  1. I picked up a pack of scrounger jigs and the plastic lips are "all " crooked . I wont use the things if they run sideways .
  2. Un-pressured big bass are a lot easier to catch than pressured big bass . No doubt in my mind . Call it smarts or whatever .
  3. You can cast a lot farther than I .
  4. Leave the trolling motor down and fish it all . Bass are both predictable and un-predictable . Some days they will be stacked in the back of coves and the next days they are stacked at the entrance . Find some major structure with spawning cove near-by and fish the whole thing . This is a spot I fish a lot in the spring . See the major point and two coves by it . I just fish it all . enlarge it and you will see . PS my cousin and I won six thousand dollars here during a September tournament .
  5. Its funny how some lures are favorites of some people and not others . Take the KVD square bills . I know they are great lures because of how popular they are .The few times I've tried them , other square bills out-fished them badly . So they are not a top shelf bait for me ,but that could change in one trip .
  6. You can look at the water and make decisions on a few lures that will effectively fish it all . Lots of times I've just taken one lure .
  7. If you can still find them the Rapala Crankin Rap .
  8. I dont recall ever using a trailer on a buzzbait .
  9. When everybody on the lake are throwing chartreuse spinnerbaits in the pre spawn season { and they do here locally ] , that bite can die in a matter of days . Ive seen it happen many times . One day last spring I started out throwing one and the bite was terribly slow . I noticed everybody was doing the same thing. I switched to a square-bill and hammered them .
  10. I dont target spawning bass because I rarely see them .Its spring I simply fish shallow . Fish will usually be found shallow on points ,the first half of a cove or the rear half of a cove . Small lakes are quicker to pattern .
  11. When i bank fish I carry very little and only one rod and reel combo . Mobility is important and I want to spend as much time fishing as I can .
  12. Manns Jelly worm Larew Salt Craw Zoom Lizard Wave Tiki Stick Original Gizit
  13. Rogers Big Jim Norman Deep Little N Rapala CR 14 Crankin Rap Strike King 6XD Strike King Red Eye Shad
  14. Big bass get dumber on cloudy days .
  15. Sounds like those guys were excellent casters .
  16. Ive had heard people talk about this tactic , I tried it a couple of times with no success . On the Mississippi , below islands is a long point . Look for cover and current breaks on those bars. Always made sense to me but never had any luck at it .
  17. I cast a jig n pig over a log , felt a hit , set the hook and had a big one on . I already had her turned so I reared back on her and she come out of the water . In mid air I pulled her over the log and she got off . I''m pretty sure it was bigger than anything I have caught to date . I had a deep one snap my line last summer . It might have been some other species but it was like setting the hook on a log .
  18. Bright lime green worms . I cant find them anymore . They caught the heck out of fish . Fliptail use to make them
  19. Can you imagine KVD trying to troll with fifty spectator boats following him .
  20. No top 12's for me either .
  21. I catch so many dinks on the 1/2 ounce that I dont see the need to go with the harder to handle 1/4 ounce .
  22. I troll occasionally . Its a quick way to cover flats . I troll crankbaits at the depth most fish are showing up on the sonar . Often you see the fish first . I catch lots of channel cats dragging a crankbait around .
  23. The pros sure lose a lot of fish . Playing a bass seems to have become a lost art .
  24. Same thing happened to me . I gradually got away from worms and was throwing everything else . Not only that I was using EWG hooks and pegging the weights . One day it occurred to me that I wasnt catching near the fish I use to .I reverted back to how I learned a six inch Jelly worm , sliding weight and standard off-set hook and the catch rate went back up . its about the only soft plastic I fish now days .
