  1. I would be trying to catch fish not just bass .I would pick a 1/8th ounce yellow marabou jig . I could catch fish on them when I was 8 , I can catch fish on them now .
  2. I It's not secret anymore .
  3. Like everyone else . I would be skeptical bu who knows , I have bought cheap stuff before that worked really well .
  4. Water absorbs the energy in light . Blue has shorter light waves than red thus it has more energy . So red light is absorbed relatively quickly blue penetrates deeper. When suspended particles are entered in the equation blue is effected more than red . The blue light waves are closer together and get blocked faster . I am not making this up and it is easy to understand . This does not involve eyes or brains . Eyes or brains do not figure into it at all .
  5. LOL no , the chart does not mention eyes or brains . Light waves only .
  6. ^^ Amberbock , Michelob , Bud Light and water ^^
  7. That chart does not state what color to use . It states how light waves disappear under water . Its not some crazy made up stuff .
  8. Save it . If it ever freezes down there you can use it for ice fishing .
  9. Ive seen a bullfog eat a sparrow . Once I saw some sort of water bird out in the middle of a lake go under and never resurface . I dont know what got it .
  10. Heres another interesting chart .What happens to light waves when the water goes from clear to muddy .
  11. They can be retrieved straight in , twitched , or just let it set still .
  12. The river , it will likely be a RoadRunner . A lake , hard telling . Could be a crankbait , spinnerbait , jerkbait jig , Texas rig . Theres a loy of unpredictable variables . . I have had a lot of luck on crankbaits as early as Feb. I look for steep banks that are getting sunshine parallel cast it and retrieve as slow as I can stand it . Big old females will inhale it .The Arbogast Mudbug is a favorite .
  13. Hard to cast but they catch fish . They were one of my favorite lures when fishing farm ponds . I have a heavier rattlin Thin Fin that works real well .
  14. I have some Wal Mart spinnerbaits that I bought six years ago ,so this topic is still relevant . They suck .
  15. Are you cleaning old , maybe valuable lures ? If thats the case be gentle .I clean coins that are not too valuable with a paste made from baking soda and water .
  16. Heavy fishing pressure makes fishing tough .It might be hard to do but try fishing differently than everyone else . If youre snaging a lot then you need to get better at Texas rigs . I dont use wide gap hooks nor do I skin hook much. I bury the hook and rig it perfectly straight .Line twist occurs easily and causes all sorts of problems . VMC makes my favorite hook . The short section that locks the lure lies in a straight line with the point so the worm can be rigged perfectly straight . No non else makes a standard hook like that . I could take picture and compare how it to a Gammy and you will see what I mean .
  17. I had verbal confrontations that almost turned into a fist fight twice with people fishing our private neighborhood lake . I dont know the law . Some of the lake bordered an interstate and part a city street . These people would come in and trash the place up . I walked to the lake every day to pick up their trash . Ive seen females sun bathing in a yard while their scumbag boyfriends fished . I saw a car park in the same yard and get stuck . Once there was a car with out of state plates there . The lake is posted now but that doesnt do any good . People run around like they own the place . I dont know what its like in your case but I speculate some people have had enough .
  18. I use to have one , gave it away . Never caught a fish on it and my uncle thought it was cool .
  19. Its difficult to find the topo map but I found it . Hit " mapping " in the upper right hand corner . That hump on the north end looks like the best spot on the lake .I would hammer it every time out .The rest of the lake is rather featureless . There is a small point at the boy scout camp , I dont know why it is off limits . That shallow weedy area you speak of is 10 foot deep . Id be hitting it too .
  20. I couldnt read the bottom of mine . I dont know where or when I bought it . It probably came out of a discount bin from Wal Mart . I dont think mine is all that old . 10 years maybe.
  21. I have that exact same lure .I didnt know what it was . I actually posted a photo of it yesterday .
  22. Thread one end of a barrel swivel on the line between the weight and the hook . Start a texas rig by running the hook through the lure and back out . Now before burying the hook back in the bait run the point through the other end of the barrel swivel then finish the Texas rig . This will lock the lure into place , it will not slide down the hook and the bait will last longer .
  23. If I get the itch real bad and the temps can be tolerated , I go below a dam . I can usually catch something .
  24. I'm late to the party again . neko Rig ? Off to the search function I go .
