How to make your own soft baits?
I whittled my worm out of wood . Then i pushed the model half way into a box of plaster of paris . When it hardened I poured plaster of paris over the top . I used a pencil or straw , cant remember ,for a vent hole . Whittled out a funnel opening for pouring . I just mixed all my plastics together and it came out brown . The worms worked well . I havent made any for years .

Mud hole with huge bass (NOT CARP) and shad but no bites
Are the fish you are seeing, jumping clear out of the water ?

Have you ever caught a fish without hooking it in the mouth?
I have never heard that one before .

Have you ever caught a fish without hooking it in the mouth?
Several times while fishing in an aluminium boat I heard bass bumping into a lip-less crankbait while hopping it off the bottom . Sometimes they will smack it repeatedly all the way to the surface .

Anybody ever tried crawfish you buy at the store for bait?
Are you referring to frozen crawfish from a grocery store ?

Fishing a small lake
High muddy water is a challenge The places that were good when the lake was low and clear still hold fish . Try shallow flooded points , fish slow and tight to cover . Floating debris in the cuts on bluffs or any banks for that matter , can be productive . Boat ramps have been good to me in these conditions .

dirty water
Never heard of the water turning white . Here it turns chocolate . When its muddy I fish shallow and tight to cover or directly on the bottom . Everything is fished "slow" . Jig and pig is good .I like black with a bright orange or chartreuse trailer . Colorado bladed spinnerbait , diving crankbaits bounced off rip rap or rocky banks. Precision flipping and pitching comes into play . Inches matter . Where is this ? Google doesnt even recognize it .

Bull Shoals Lake
I also fished it once and it was flooded so bad the ramps were not accessible . We launched on the road . Got on a real good smallmouth bite 30 foot deep with tubes , up near Theodosia .

Deep diving cranks
The water around here is stained with a thermocline often less than 20 feet . Chartreuse and shad colors have produced well .

Why Do You Fish
One of my earliest memories is catching my first fish on a cane pole , bobber and worm . I saw the colors and Dad told me it was a sunfish, I took it literally and thought it was from the sun . LOL . Been hooked ever since .

Leftover Plastics
You would be able to if you use a one part mold . The colors will change but you could get some interesting patterns anyway .Ive been thinking using an ink pen for a model .

Leftover Plastics
I melted them slow and it was pretty easy . They will change color . I just mixed all the colors together and they come out brown .
-
Leftover Plastics
I use to melt them and pour my own original worms .

Have you ever caught a fish without hooking it in the mouth?
I caught a crappie when the line wrapped around it and the jig hook caught the line and pulled tight like a noose .

My favorite is Trilene xl blue fluorescent . I want to be able to see the line . 17 lb test XL is only .15 inches in diameter , strong and limp . Its my worming and jigging line . Big game I'm using for cranks , spinners , top waters and such .

Flippin’: A Concept. Not Just a Technique – Good Stuff
I read it all , good stuff . I would like to spend some time watching those guys and how they approach cover . Of interest to me is how would they approach a lay-down with lots of branches or brush pile . Would they go to the heart first or start outside and work their way in ?

How to cast a light bait further?
I add sections of stick worms { senko type } to small spinnerbaits , jigs , Roadrunners .. to get them to cast easier with bait casting gear .
