  1. Precisely . Learn to fish the texas worm well and not only will you learn where the fish are but all other baits will be easy .
  2. Maybe more people are fishing those days too because of the charts .
  3. When I need more weight for other weightless soft plastics , I will tie on a heavy wire flipping hook . Dont know if that is a viable option on a "buzz frog " .
  4. I trust myself better than information locals are "willling" to share . Only info I want are water conditions . Rick Clunn won the Arkansas river classic by fishing where the locals said there were no fish .
  5. I never take those charts into consideration . Fishing shuts off and turns on in an instant . Usually its weather related or how high the sun is . Weve all been on a hot bite then a wind shift shuts it down and vice versa . I go when I can and if the weather forecast is suitable to be out on the water .
  6. 12 lb Big Game , XL or XT .I use mono for everything . Right now its green Big Game because I have big spools of it that has to be used .
  7. I still have three or four original Lightning rod . The one with the yellow and red trim .One is a 6 foot med heavy. that was my Texas rig rod at the time . I still use a 5.6'' rod and the 6 footer for topwater baits . Those short rods make twitching and walking baits easier to use .
  8. Dont know about that . Ever fish a little George ? Or a jigging Spoon ?..
  9. Yep , you're right . I'm going to throw it in cedar trees .Cant help myself , Theres fish in those trees and thats where I'm going to put that lure .
  10. I have never used a chatterbait , but now I own 6 of them . The first thing I thought of when examining one was removing the skirt and adding a spring keeper , soft plastic and making it snag-less . I know some of you had tried it . How did it work ?
  11. You always have good informative post , Primetime .
  12. I have hundreds of lures , the only one that is tied on 99 % of the time is something Texas rigged .
  13. My local lake is a flood control lake . They hold water back to keep it from entering the Mississippi . Lake level is something I always check . The river it flows into the same thing . All other area lakes I just go .
  14. Maybe one of you can help me . I have a Mark II , bought it new 20 years ago and have maybe 2000 rounds through it . This gun has always not cycled well . It does all kinds of stuff . The spent case does not eject fully out of the gun . The spent case is loose inside of the chamber . The spent case is not extracted out of the barrel . The bolt does not stay open after the last shot . These are all the things that happen and i probably forgot one or two .I use bulk high velocity ammo , others use bulk ammo with no issues , so this gun should handle it . I have taken it down and cleaned it several times . I actually hate this gun but would love it if it functioned properly . Anybody know what the problem might be ?
  15. Original Lunker Lure .
  16. I dont have exact answers I just fumble through it .. Usually the first top water I throw in the year is a floating minnow [ Long A Minnow]. It will be my main top water until after the post spawn . My best day ever was with a Long A Minnow on post spawn fish .After that buzzbaits take over . Buzzbaits are usually thrown in warmer water , overcast skies , early and late in the day , nightime and add a little chop on the water . Buzzbaits work better for me in the colder fall temps than in the colder spring temps . I like chuggers on hot summer sunny days .thrown around standing timber when bass are seen occasionally hitting shad . I dont fish this way much anymore because I cant tolerate the heat but its a 50 to 100 fish technique when its working . I rarely use walking baits because I miss too many fish with them . One of my favorite baits that I dont have anymore is the Dalton Special . I like it spring , summer , fall . Thers a whole bunch of lures I dont fish much because there isnt enough time to fish them all . I just follow my instincts .
  17. If you know how to fish a Texas rig then you already know hot to fish a jig .
  18. I have a 14 foot Old Town Guide that I fish solo . Weight distribution is my problem .. I sit in the front seat and travel backwards but it still has to much weight on that end . I have found it impossible to turn it around in a 10 mph wind .
  19. My catfish and Carp reels are Quantum 1310MG's made in the 80's .

I have a ruger Mark II with 4 inch target barrell . I like firing a couple hundred rounds through it .. I go to a dump site and use it as a target range . Its a very accurate gun but has a history of jamming , that can be a pita . I'm going to get a small 22 that will fit in the back pocket , something like the Taurus pt22. That should be fun to pull out and fire a few shots .
