  1. I'll vouch for the Flying lure , at least the little ones .They work just like advertised .
  2. I use 15 lb Big Game for both main line and leader . Swivel , plastic bead and 3/4 ounce lead egg sinker . I have some speedo beads that eliminate a leader but they weaken the line considerably . If the carolina Keeper will hold the weight in place I will start using them .
  3. Will the carolina Keeper hold a 3/4 ounce weight in place ?
  4. Thats tough fishing around here . I just go for a couple of bites and fish in the afternoon on sunny banks . My best lures for ice out have been crappie size Beetle spins and Marabou jigs .
  5. The colder the water the slower I want the lure to fall . So instead of worms I like Craws with twister pincers . Havent tried it yet because I dont fish cold water much anymorw , but a hula grub should be effective .
  6. I dont know the name of it but I have a topwater lure that acts like a wind up toy . It has a little plastic tail and when you jerk it a string gets pulled and the tail wiggles back and forth for a few seconds . It should work real well , it would imitate a cicada , I just think after a few fish the tail will break off .
  7. You're going to have to give a lot more info or a picture .
  8. I dont see why double blades are more versatile than single blades .
  9. Straight tail 6 inch Jelly worm .
  10. I'm a numbers fisherman . The way I see it the more fish I catch the better my chance at catching a lunker . Nothing puts bass in the boat for me like a straight tail 6 inch worm . Jelly worms are hard to beat .
  11. All my smallmouth fishing is done in a river and anything that resembles a crawdad hopped off the bottom does the trick . The old Renegade craws from Wal Mart worked real well but any craw will do plus jigs , tubes and hula grubs .
  12. Kevlar rods didnt last long . Dont know how well they worked . I think they were made by Shakespeare .
  13. I'm stumped .
  14. A single willow leaf blade about a number 4 in size on a 1/4 to 1/2 ounce lure would work for me most of the year deep and shallow . I'd go with a gold blade and a baitfish colored skirt . The exceptions would be night fishing when I go with a Colorado blade and dark skirt and early spring in muddy water where I go with a larger lure and blades .
  15. Thats something I've never tried with casting gear . It's pretty simple with a spinning rod .
  16. I thought I caught some nice gills but they are dinks compared tow what you guys are catching .fishing for bedding bluegill with a fly rod and popper is one of the funnest ways I ever fished .I need to do it more often .
  17. I've had a lot of success T-rigging them .
  18. That shoudnt be much of a problem . I dont know how experienced you are with a Texas rig but once you learn how to tell when it touches bottom { the line will slack up some when using mono } , immediately lift it back up before it has time to settle in crevices . I fish rip rap banks with large rocks using a t rig .
  19. That Bagleys Diving B in Baby Bass with the chartreuse belly is one of my all time favorites . I have had several and destroyed them all . I still have one with big hunks of paint missing .
  20. I have that luck too . I only fished Truman once and thats the way it looked .
  21. I can see a long point with a hump close by and if those two are connected by a saddle [ which it appears to be ] that would be some pretty good structure .
  22. Weightless soft plastics are what I turn too . Senko type baits cast very well with no weight . The Yum swurm comes through the muck very well , just use a large heavy hook to add a little casting weight .
  23. I was watching KVD underhand roll cast spinnerbaits this morning and realized that I cannot do that anywhere near his level and i'll admit that I am atrocious at the backhand cast . The low trajectory cast is where I definitely could use some improvement .
