  1. Do Sassy Shads count ?
  2. I always liked his baits. The Gay blade is a fantastic lure. I like the Ripplin Redfin and the Hot Spot should be a hall of famer.
  3. LOL. I guess ill go to one of the whats your favert lure threads.
  4. Ive used them since about 78 also. We obviously have different experience. I still have a texas rig tied on 100 percent of the time but I catch a fraction of the fish with them as I use too. But this is off subject. Would make a good thread though.
  5. Good point . No I didnt and I think if I did the bass would have took it . I think line is part of the equation still.
  6. ...and if you see the mannequin in low light situations it can be impossible to tell.
  7. I agree 100 percent. The 70's and 80's were much better times to catch fish on a plastic worm than todays educated fish.
  8. I'll cast it in shallow water then retrieve it to deeper water like on a flat or point. I fish it the same way as deeper depths with 3/4 ounce egg sinker to cover water quickly. A lot of fish come shallow.

Question for you guys using the Rage rig. Do you feel you are getting more bites with the horizontal fall vs. a nose down fall ?
  10. I snorkled in a clear river and fed bass live crawfish then tried to catch them with a plastic crawfish on a hook and short piece of light line. They knew the difference and would not bite . Personally, and I may be wrong , I think they see the string. I know I can see it and they see much better in the water than I .I can see fluorocarbon under water easily too.
  11. I use the Owner keepers also. They work pretty good. You can never have too many tricks. I like the heavy momn one. I will definately try that ..
  12. Its not the hook set. You guys are telling me , that you never had a worm slide down the hook during a hookset . Ive had them slide down on the cast .
  13. I have largemouth bass and smallmouth bass patterned Bomber Model A's . They both catch fish well. They are also both pretty old and I dont know if they are still made .
  14. I use to make good solid hook sets with Texas rigs only to have the fish come off . Id get the bait back in and the worm would be balled at the bottom of the hook. So I have learned different ways to secure the bait. Parasite clip , barrel swivels and pieces of wire are what I have used and they all work well. I like using barrel swivels the best. How do you guys do it ?
  15. Theres not a lot of docks where I fish , so I dont have a lot of experience . One day on a rare visit to Table Rock , I could see a keeper bass under a dock. I kept pitching a Larew Salt Craw at it with a spinning rod but it ignored my many offerings. I then camouflaged my line with a black sharpie. I colored the line in two inch black bands , pitched it back in and the bass jumped all over it. So my answer is Salt Craws on camouflaged line .
  16. Rebel , when they made Deep Wee Rs. Today, I dont know. I still use Jelly Worms and Salt Craws .
  17. A long time ago I used pork because that is what you were suppose to use. Caught lots of fish on Uncle Josh number 11 pork frogs , eels , and waterdogs. Then I started using twin tail grubs and they worked too. Now I dont even have any pork , simply because plastic is handier.
  18. Theres a body of water close by where the crawdads are purple . I caught a crawdad 20 foot deep on Table Rock lake and it was brown with bright orange tips on the pinchers. So I switched to a brown and orange Larew Salt Craw and caught two keepers. It never occurred to me to use orange in that clear of water .
  19. I liked Riverside a lot especially the Top Gun .
  20. I love your avatar .
  21. Ive never used a Ned Rig but I have been Texas rigging half a Senko type worm for years and have had hundred fish days with it.
  22. I dont remember the first bass I ever caught , but it was probably caught on a white marabou jig . I caught lots of fish on those jigs when I was a kid back in the 60's
  23. I wont even watch Bill dance because hes always fishing in his private pond. Id like to see him film a show at Mark Twain lake. A monkey with a cane pole could catch bass out of his pond. LOL
