  1. We came up on a guy fishing on the bank one time. He asked how we were doing and if we were having any luck. We said a little. As he walked away he gave us a tip. There was a distinct mud line about 25 yard out from shore. From the mud line to the bank was clear water. He told us when he walked up some big fish swam away in our direction about 5 minutes ago. He pointed to where. I casted my spinner bait and boom! 5 pounder. Released that fish and 2nd cast BOOM 4 pounder! We would have thanked him but he'd already gone. Kindness goes a long ways. These instances have their ups and downs. It is how react to them.
  2. A giant bass caught on Broken Bow lake in southeast Oklahoma! https://www.facebook.com/wildlifedepartment/photos/a.262353923814227.62558.187593801290240/654328511283431/?type=1&theater
  3. This answered a question I was thinking. I am looking forward to your review down4ttown. Although I might have some tied on come May. That will be the first tourny I can even fish this year.
  4. Who knew we might be forming a new posse round these parts! LOL I used a buddy's Curado last year for a while. I loved the reel. I could not however get past the UGLY green. I'm glad now they went with a different color. I will be purchasing my first Shimano bait caster soon!
  5. I'll 2nd what our local forum fish catching guru says! I purchased one of the Extremes and I've been impressed. I plan on using it for a 10xd and a A-rig rod as well.
  6. Funny rite there!
  7. No problem. I would suggest that you use everyone's advice until you find what works for "you" I am a machinist by trade and there is a 100 ways you can machine a part. When it comes to fishing, it is the same. We're all made differently. Otherwise the world would be a boring place IMO.
  8. My wife isn't interested in hunting or fishing. She did say however if we ever got a boat she would go and lay out on the back. That's cool with me. She also encourages me going. She knows it relaxes me and respects my love for fishing. On another note. I don't care what other people call their spouses. She calls me a name I can't say on here and I call her an Ol' Hag. We laugh about it. I think it us up to the involved parties. I really don't care what other people think.
  9. I didn't have my knocker with me. I will say this tho. One of those telescopic ones would have come in really handy! I may have to get on for bank beating. That water was so cold, I didn't realize until later that night, that I had scraped my arch pretty good. I was walking to bed and thought I'd stepped on something. Nope, I had a chunk of flesh missing! LOL
  10. They'll work excellent. The bill helps it from getting hung up. I fish them around floating docks during the summer. Grand lake in particular. Dock owners always sink brush tied to heavy string. I have only gotten hung one time on one of those brush piles.
  11. Congrats. I love the mag worm on a shaky head. DEADLY!
  12. Topwater yes. Both of those lines would work. I don't like braid or mono for a jerkbait. I like braid to flouro on a jerkbait only when I'm fishing it all day. Key word "only" Braid has no stretch. It wears me out otherwise.
  13. I wasn't complaining fellas. I basically have the best of both worlds. I hunt 4 months out of a year and I basically could fish anytime I want. The ponds or lakes hardly freeze over. Like Long Mike said it is the extreme changes that have me shaking my head. I'll take 100 to 105 temps any day. Fishing in the morning and cold beer and shade in the afternoon!
  14. Yes he did say that. I can read. What I was referring to was he asked "Best beginner baitcaster?"
  15. The only accidental thing I have caught was a rock. My crankbait wedged perfectly in a rock while I was fishing in a tourny. I had 12lb flouro on the reel. I bet the rock weighed 10 to 12 pounds. The boater took a pic. He was supposed to put it up on our club site. Until now I forgot all about the instance. I'll have to go check. Another story I have, not necessarily accidental per say, is an old buddy of mine took me fishing in one of his strip ponds. He was terrified of snakes. So, what I did was I hooked a big rubber snake on the hook. I dropped it overboard and let out a bunch of line. I faked a hookset and then the fight was on! Once I got the thing close to the little 8ft two man boat, he freaked. Needless to say the Randy Travis song comes to mind. "He Walked On Water" I haven't been invited fishing since. It sure was worth it though!
  16. I'm glad I've never had to work in a cubicle. I promise I never will either!
  17. That video was AWESOME!
  18. We had a sleet and snow thunderstorm yesterday. It dumped at least an inch of sleet and a couple inches of snow. The low was 6 and the high will be 14. I'll be fishing Thursday. The low is projected 33 and high 50. Gotta love Oklahoma!
  19. Looks like after a "thunder" sleet and snow storm yesterday, I'll have a 3 day warming trend for this coming Thursday. 14 for a high today and 50 for Thursday. So uh fishing I will go! Going to be a jig, jerkbait, and swim jig kind of day!
  20. You will love those! The only reason I didn't suggest the fuse craw was because he asked what worm. I use those on a shaky head or a pegged bullet weight while fishing willow trees on one of my favorite lakes. They come thru laydowns religiously! John designed a thinner profile bait to punch grass mats or heavy cover like Florida waters has.
  21. With those hook sizes, I may have to order some for myself!
  22. It stinks that sometimes it costs us a bunch of money to find that out. But on the other hand, it can be a lot of fun while doing so!
  23. There have been times I wished I'd had my bow or rifle. I've seen some big ol' bucks while fishing, man!
  24. It's cool. I stopped even coming to the site for a while. The posse's got so bad. Finally the mods got it under control. If someone asks "Lew's or Diawa?" I don't comment. I only comment if I have either one or have had one of them. They would come in and say you want "insert brand here" those 2 are junk. These are the best. And then the piling on came.
