  1. Most of mine are the 1/4 oz. I use a LFT magic shad for a trailer. If I want something more subtle, I'll use a fluke style bait. I never use a boot tail. The reason is I think it works against the bill and you lose some action. I retrieve mine by yo-yoing or a steady retrieve. I work it like a spinnerbait or a lipless bait. A very versatile bait like the swim jig or bladed jig!
  2. Funny you say this! Squirrel interviewed a spectator at the takeout yesterday. I don't know if you seen it or not. He was kind of acting like KVD wasn't anything and he taught him what he knows. The guy at first looked at him like he was crazy. Then went along with it. Man I laughed my tail off! Anyways, you gotta roll eyes at the haters.
  3. The joy for me as a father, has been seeing my kids grow. I can always make money. Doing something extra. Get a second job. Buy anything I want. Here is the kicker. No matter how much you make, you can't buy time! Time is more important to me. It can't be bought.
  4. Ahhhh! jbsoonerfan that is an excellent point. What about the other people who use the lake? Other fishermen? Or how can you keep people off of a natural resource?
  5. Like it or not, the lakes are public waters. The only way for it to change is if the states make a law not allowing boats, whether on plane or idle, to be a certain number of feet apart. Common rule is 100ft for competitors. If the groups stay back at least that far then I think that is fair.
  6. What a shame. As far as I'm aware, the locals last year were in good graces. There was just as many I'm sure.
  7. They take any rod. The money you save depends on what rod you get. Like for instance. You trade in a rod. You want to buy a Falcon Cara. The rod retails for 149.99. You would get $25 off of the Cara. Their idea in this is to get kids fishing I believe. They donate all rod and reels for this purpose.
  8. I seen, while watching war room coverage, EE catch a nice keeper on a bladed jig. I never would have thought to even try that technique. It makes a lot of since tho! We are looking at possibly a huge bag tomorrow. I can't wait!
  9. It is the time of the year people get there fix on buying baits! Guys in the North are staring at the ice. They are doing their fishing by buying! If I was a betting man he's running low due to purchases lately. I was browsing his site earlier in the week and he had just about everything in stock.
  10. I watch it to see fish caught in a cool new tournament format. If you like drama or comedy, they have channels for that. I won't watch it in a fishing or hunting show. Just my 2 cents.
  11. Honestly there are a bunch of anglers deserving to be in an MLF event. It is only set up with a 24 angler field. Hopefully in the near future we'll see more than we have. I know the MLF this year will have an all new field.
  12. Bfl

Early as you can. I have never fished a BFL but I've thought about it! Trapper J has a little experience in this area. He fish some last year and he will this year to I bet.
  13. G-Man just went there! I'm an even bigger fan of his now!
  14. I like Davy but the "Squirrel" nailed it today!
  15. My Wal-mart has about 10-12 Plano FTO's on clearance for 9 bucks. I have the original Falcon FTO's and I love them. If I had a boat, I'd go with the deeper hanging boxes. I also have a zip up binder. It is the same type of system in the bigger FTO box. It suits me great when I am bank fishing.
  16. Well another fail for Bass Pro. I just got on the site and the flyer is down. I talked with a live assist person. It seems the site is under some construction. I can't wait for Cabela's to put their store in south Tulsa. I am just about done with Bass Pro.
  17. Yes sir. I'd be slow rolling a spinnerbait at best. Or slow roll a hard head.
  18. Also, I just watched EE catch a nice fish on the war room TV. He was using a bladed jig or "chatterbait" style jig. Just a useful little tidbit for all the guys on here that asked about this bait. How and when to use it!
  19. Basstrack caused a big problem last year with boat traffic. 80-100 boats on some of the big name anglers everyday. People knew exactly the area they were and although people weren't to intrusive, there was tons of boat traffic that could have IMO hampered the bite. Grand can be a tough lake to fish.
  20. Your ready. Get a baitcaster and a half ounce casting plug. Spool it up. Tie the plug on. Then hit the lever. Pull about 25 to 30 yards of line out. Less if you want to. Place a piece of tape on the line all the way across the line on the spool. Reel up the line. Give it your first cast. If you backlash, the tape in place will only let the back lash go so far down into the reel. Pick out the lash and do it again. As you get more comfortable, move the tape farther down in the spool or remove it completely. This is exactly how I taught my son and now he is better with one than I am.
  21. I have been researching throwing big baits for 2 months. This is one of the baits that I want to get. I just thought the article was interesting. Nothing more.
  22. His bluegill is the best I have ever fished!
  23. Sorry man. I wasn't meaning to be rude. Sometimes I have a problem typing what's in my head. It has never been my strong suit. LOL Just go to the main forum page and click on introductions and tell us a little about yourself.
  24. Mine is from a golf club cover that had a frog on it saying "Grip it and rip it" I then started think that just about everything in sports that I like you "grip n rip"
