  1. Fished it today...Blown AWAY! I have a 50e Curado and a 200e Chronarch and this reel blows them out of the water in terms of casting, smoothness, and braking...it's not close guys. I just bought a Tatula type R last year and this reel is much better in my mind. It will take a few months of fishing them both to give an honest true opinion, but right now I am a believer. Using it with a 6 speed for spinnerbaits. Thing is a dream. Pics are coming.
  2. I actually got one today at the classic expo. Thing is nice. I would rate it over the CH200e
  3. I felt the new powell TiMax yesterday and it was so far from the a DX it isn't funny. Powell makes decent rods but they are not the same level as Dobyn's.
  4. I like 832 and Seaguar Smackdown over the other choices. I used FX2 and like it as well but not for the price. 832 has been the most consistent for me.
  5. Agree with that! If you do all of that, you will actually have a better casting and performing reel than the Zillion.
  6. How about just taking the Chronarch E and painting it green and incorporating X-ship? I would pay for that as I think most of us would.
  7. Gen 3 STX 7.1 and the 6 something gear ratio both for $65 each. A rep that ran the tourney circuit had to expo demo's. No Boxes but paperwork and the reels. I have used them for a year, and they work great. I also got a Gen3 Revo Winch for that price. Best Deal I have ever gotten.
  8. I honestly think the line is being revamped. I think the Chronarch E series will be modified slightly to become the new Curado which I would be fine with.
  9. Take it back and get something else! Trust me! I had two from Dicks when they were $25 each. Both have since snapped on casts. They are junk and they know it. Hence selling them for $25 each.
  10. Any word on the Primus(sp?). I heard that was going to be their flagship reel.
  11. Did not know this....The Optimus has gotten nothing but raved reviews...so maybe you should check those out...!!!!
  12. I have my STX paired with a Villain. I got them when they were on sale at Dicks for 99. Got my STX for $65. Pretty nice combo for $164 total. I use it for jigs and t-rigs.
  13. So Dick's has a Curado G series for $120 online right now, and I know a place that has new Citica's for $80. Those are two fine reels. Talk to fishwhittler about his citica....
  14. I have two rods that I could use for either function. I have a 7' H IROD AIR and a 7'3" Heavy *** ***. The Air is not a stiff as the ***, but it is very comfortable, stout, and light. The *** is a broom. It is a nice heavy duty rod that can be used for flipping too. The *** is what I plan to punch with this year while leaving the shorter Irod for Froggin or something else.
  15. You should try to find a Shimano Castaic. Very neat flipping switch design. I used a Team Lew's last year, but I have since upgraded to a Tatula type-R with a beefed up carbontex drag. Want to try the 8.1 out.
  16. If that happens, I will be in line 6 hours before the d**n store opens!
  17. Go with Shimano. I have two presidents that work fantastically, but I also have an Supreme MG that the worm gear got stripped on in less than 6 months. You will not have that happen with Shimano.
  18. I would suggest calling Ron at ValleySports and getting a Dobyn's champion cranking stick. Dobyn's has one of the best warranties in the business, and it will have more sensitivity than you will ever need in a cranking stick.
  19. I have a revo STX and I use 40lb braid for flipping. I think 50 is more than enough though. I actually bought a Villain for 99 to pair with my STX.
  20. DO NOT USE THESE FOR A RIGS! It will snap on the first cast. I bought two earlier this year when they were on sale. They are mediocre rods and one has already snapped on me while casting. I had the 7ft H and it broke casting a 1/2oz spinnerbait. It was probably damaged in shipping or a blem but I can tell you it was WAY too flimsy for an Arig.
  21. No way I would pay that for them. I can get a pair of Wiley X's or Oakleys for that.
