tournament shirt
I've dealt with animalpaintball.com before, doing a logo design for a tournament shirt for someone. Good people there. The logo I did wasn't too very detailed, and they recreated it for no extra charge.

If you could fish with any 2 anglers..Who? And Where?
George W. Bush An avid bass fisherman, and a historical leader who has faced numerous challenges to our country. Fishing anywhere for bass. Dick Cheney I figure a fishing trip would be safer than a hunting trip with the VP. Fishing anywhere for bass.

Need help researching a ship from WW2
Built: 1/44 Hull#: 45 USMC#: 837 At approximately 1530 hours on August 30th, 1944, the SS. JACKSONVILLE was torpedoed by U-482 in the North Channel entrance to the Irish sea. She was sailing in Convoy CU-36. JACKSONVILLE was part of a column made up of S.S. ERIN, MEMMON, CAPE NOME and CROWN POINT that had just turned away from the main convoy on the way to Loch Ewe, Scotland. The U-482, commanded by KL Hartmut Count Graf Matuschka, was waiting for just such an opportunity. U-482 fired two torpedos and both hit. The resulting explosion broke the tanker in half, killing approximately 77 men in her crew and the Armed Guard on board. One merchant seaman, Frank B. Hodges, and a member of the Armed Guard, Marcellus R. Wegs, survived, both seriously injured. Incidentially, the U-482 went on to sink the HMS HURST CASTLE and then SS FJORDHEIM, the SS EMPIRE HERITAGE and SS PINTO, the merchant ships coming from Convoys ONS-251 and HXF-305. In her trip from Norway to the UK and back, U-482 traveled 2,729 miles...all but 256 of that underwater using a snorkel. The U-482 was sunk early the following year in roughly the same area after being caught in a British minefield laid there after the U-482's first trip. This information taken from deck logs of the escorts, the convoy escort and convoy commodore's reports, Armed Guard Reports, survivors reports, an interview with Frank B. Hodges, correspondence and interviews with seamen from other nearby ships, and the log of the U-482 among other sources. Source: Provided by Mr. Theron P. Snell on 30 December 2005 - - - - - - - - - A Poem: Tanker's Hit by Robert Goodwin [Composed on SS Georgia a few hours after witnessing torpedoing of tanker SS Jacksonville 8/30/44 in the North Atlantic, with loss of 48 crew and 28 Armed Guard. Only 1 crewman and 1 Armed Guard survived ] Have you ever seen a tanker hit? It's not a pleasant sight; The ship from stem to stern is lit With fires that burn so bright. Smoke pours from her into the blue And forms a might cloud, Then turns into a ghastly hue -- A ship that was so proud. Then men on ships about do stand And sadly watch her burn; There is no way to lend a hand, Just watch, and wait your turn. So down into a watery grave She takes her gallant crew; And all of those who had been brave, A trip to heaven drew.

New Jersey Bass clubs / Tounaments
WELCOME! I'm from PA, but love fishing NJ lakes. Check out these sites. You might have to make a couple of phone calls to see which clubs are located near you, the costs, and what type of waters they fish. Good luck. TBF/FLW affiliate http://www.njbassfed.org/ B.A.S.S. affiliate http://www.federationnationofnj.org/ Here is a good source for tournaments, and also some club info http://njbassanglers.com/board/index.php?PHPSESSID=b7d7aa7b47455dc23328a49c468b8f52&board=5.0 (seems also like one of our sponsers here at BR, "Bobby Megastrike" might have some tourneys this year in NJ. You might want to PM him for some info about it) Also, if you're not familiar with this website check it out free PDF lake contour maps provided by the state of NJ. http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/lakemaps.htm

Hey ZEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Robby, If you know were it is, I'll give you a couple of tips. Our property starts right on Stagecoach road, with our road starting just to the side of those two pools of hunters creek. There is now a chain across the road, just park off to that side area next to Stagecoach road on our property, where you won't block access to our road. Here's at tip on those pools (which are across the road from our property): You know the one on the right is much better than the one on the left. Sometimes the trout in the pool won't take any offering. The one surefire way to get them is to use live houseflies. No weight, and use a salmon egg hook. Use 4lb test and just drop it into the water at the "tube" opening, and let the current take it. The trout will slam it. We own about 30 acres, which is the side of the mountain and some of the bottom land. We own up to the two small wooden sheds (actually one is an outhouse) just beyond the pavilion. Your best bet is to start at Stagecoach road and wade upstream. Most of our property is in its natural state so it's a bit of a challenge getting upstream. Jungle training is a plus LOL. But there are a lot of undercut trees that hold the trout. My brother is usually there on the weekends, and if you see him, tell him his brother Joe gave you permission to fish it. Both "shorlines" of Hunters creek is on our land through that stretch. Good luck. (Sorry towmotor for hijacking the thread)

Hey ZEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Robby the family owns a section of land where the Continental Road is in its original condition, although not public anymore. Right at the end of the road is an old hotel (now someone's house) where George Washington, Ben Franklin, and other notables stayed on their travels on the Continental Road (my mother was told when she had to get some legal things done because a business entity tried to grab the land after my father passed away, that because the road is in its original historic condition, she cannot pave it or make improvements to it). Several years ago some guys decided to shoot up my brother's makeshift cabin he built, with shotguns (from the inside) must have used over 50 shells. Unfortunately it is now posted, but all locals know they can fish and hunt it. If you want to fish it let me know, and I will give you the specific location (its off Stagecoach Road). There is a stone gravity bridge over Hunters Creek on the property built in the 1700's, which is undercut. Some really big native trout live there my largest has been around 18. (had to fix a word... whewwww)

Cheaters getting caught
Here are some interesting news articles... Hey ZEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, I'm not familiar with the Tobyhanna Creek (don't do much creek and stream fishing other than Hunters Creek with the kids, which runs through some of our family's land in Carbon County). Tobyhanna Lake would be less than a half hour drive from you. You can also fish from the bank there. Start at the boat launch, and work your way to the left (looking at the lake). Walk down the path and hit any open areas where you can get to the lake. Also as you walk down the path you will eventually come to the dam part and the rip rap is good. The bass there are real black from the tannic water (post some pics of them if you go there), and some good pickerel. Waders would work best, but watch your footing, a lot of rocks. There is also a beach there for the wife and kids while you go fishing. Gouldsboro Lake is also close to Tobyhanna Lake (I hear its been fixed and reopened). Also close to you is Frances E. Walter Dam. I don't know much about the lake other than when I use to suggest it to our bass club to have a tournament, it drew growns from the guys. Good luck over the Memorial Day holiday.

Need Advice Getting A New PB. Found Her, But Can't Get Her To Bite!
Next time out, if nothing works, try a horizontal dropshot. Cast the rig out beyond the bed, and work it back to where the lure is directly above the bed. Keep the rod high, and work the bait in one spot with lifts, drops, shakes and pauses. Do it till you hopefully drive her nuts, and she eventually slams it. Rig the hook about 24 from the weight (I use 1oz for this, because I dont want the bait to move from the spot). I like using a white (because I can see it easily) 3 Bass Assassin Shad for this. I use either a bait hook or a treble, and rig it (through the back of the bait) where the shad is in a horizontal position when working it.

HELP - getting rid of Mallards
Thanks everyone. Tonight I am going to set up a couple of my daughter's large rubber snakes. I'll also find my small BB pistol (not powerful, but enough to sting them). Then, if all else fails looks we'll have duck in addition to a roast pig, roast turkey, and beef BBQ at our Memorial Day picnic. (I like the crank telephone idea, but all my friends and family are under 99 years old.) :-?

HELP - getting rid of Mallards
My next door neighbor put in 2 small goldfish ponds with a makeshift stream between them utilizing a pump to bring the water from the lower pond to the upper one. Now a pair of mallards has moved in. Unfortunately they seem to like using my swimming pool several times during the day. He likes the pair that has made home there, and won't do anything about it. I can't get rid of them, and this morning I caught them crapping in my pool. They aren't deterred from my yells, even when I turn the hose on them, and they won't fly away until I get right next to them. Enough is enough! If it were up to me, my 1,000 psi pellet gun would send them a clear message, but my wife and two daughters don't want them hurt. Any ideas on how to get rid of them, before I have to resort to my way, because I won't put up with the health issues they will cause if I let it go on any longer.

New Tube Idea
Using 2 of Brent's 187 Killer Specials, I utilized two Disc Tubes, a Trick Stick, a Brush Hog, and a Beaver Craw to come up with this new lure design. I called it the F-187 Killer-B. Unfortunately, the US Air Force recently contacted me, stating I inadvertently copied the prototype of their newest stealth design bomber. Therefore the introduction of the lure would have national security issues. Just my luck! Oh well, back to the drawing board. :

need your opinion
For me, tournament time is not the time for trying out new lures and techniques. If the baits you listed are your confidence lures, I'd say go with them. If you boater has success with something you are not familiar with, you could give them a try, but for me practice or fishing for fun is the time to try new stuff out. Good luck in the tourney.

EYE TEST
Saw this today. Thought it was pretty good. (sorry if it's been done and seen before) EYE TEST Count every ' F ' in the following text: FI NISHED FILES ARE THE RE SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS... (SEE BELOW) HOW MANY ? WRONG, THERE ARE 6 -- no joke. READ IT AGAIN ! Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The reasoning behind is further down. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The brain cannot process 'OF'. Supposedly, if you count all 6 your first try, you might be a genius.

I failed at realistic...
Why not try fishing it first before stripping it down. Who knows, if it catches bass you can start your own line of avant-garde finishes.

Softening Pork
I read this somewhere: To soften pork chunks, put a few drops of glycerin into the jar a few days prior to use. But the softening process shortens the storage life of the pork, so you need to use them soon after doing this.
