new hologram 3D stickbaits
Hologram 3D plastic stickbaits... Anyone purchase recently? I've looked... found only one local source. The ones I've found go by the name of "HoloSticks." I have a friend who is a semi-pro on a professional bass circuit, and he told me several of the pros are using them in clear water lakes with fantastic success, but keeping it a tight secret. From what I hear, the process of molding a holographic image into a plastic stickbait was recently invented by someone in the USA who is currently awaiting a patent before he sells the process to a big lure company. Rumor has it that his idea was stolen by a now ex-relative, and that individual is having knock-offs produced in Cuba to avoid legalities and prosecution. Seems right now it's only by word of mouth, and you really need to have connections to get your hands on some. The local guy I've found makes you buy at least $100 worth, and he appears to be a bit shady, so I'm a little reluctant. Also, I really don't want to buy that much without testing them out first. Below I've put a scan of the color chart that the local guy gave me. I wrestled with the thought that getting them is wrong on several levels. But reality is, knock off lures seems to be a standard in the industry anymore. So if anyone knows where I can find them from a cheaper source, or in lesser quantities, please let me know. I'd like to get my hands on them before the upcoming tournament season starts, because when it comes down to it, it's all about the winning! Thanx.

Who here fishes from the bank?
I mostly fish from a boat, but many times when I only want to go out for a few hours, or take the kids out, I often fish from the bank. Personally, I really enjoy fishing from the bank. It forces me to really try hard and figure out an area, and switch up to see what interests the bass, because you don't have the luxury of moving as much as you do in a boat. I think it really helps to hone your skills and makes you a better angler. I take the time to figure out where productive areas are on the lake with some varied changes in structure favorable to bank fishing - and concentrate on them. A pair of waders helps. In the past I took 2 rods along with me, but lately only go with one anymore, a 7ft spinning rod for distance, and a bass snap to make quick changes of lures. I caught 4 out of my 5 biggest bass last year fishing from the bank. We have a Fish'N'Ski for anywhere, a 14' jon boat moored at an electric only lake, and I still fish about 25% of the time from the bank. Hey LBH How's this design I came up with for a shirt -- for your website (showed it to someone else who does shirts, but they never got back to me):

Looking to Japan for new baits
Years ago, Wacky Worm in Gilbert, PA carried Berkley Japanese soft baits (Irregulars only) which were not available here in the US. I've tried several, and found them to be okay in my book, but nothing spectacular.

Daydreaming of being in a different industry.
I would like to write a best selling book. Unfortunately I'm a lousy writer with lots of ideas. I do have something in mind that has a very good likelihood of being a best seller, but would have to be timed correctly. I have the title and a rough outline, but nothing else. Still don't know if it should go the way of a guide or something else. My wife is the only one who knows what it is about, and says there are millions of loons out there like me that would buy it - no matter what. Who knows, maybe if I get over my recent hump, I might find a couple of specialized people who I could trust. Who love researching and formulating information together. I'd give them a few sections each to tackle, and then find someone who could put all the data together in a way it flows and fits into my thought process. Equal billing for all. Only one thing... it will scare and depress the heck out of those doing the research when they see how it all ties together, which is all out there easily and freely obtained. How's that for daydreaming?

PA FISHERMAN?! -Is anyone out there?-
Towmotor, I fish Mauch Chunk a lot. I usually have 5 setups when I fish it and do pretty well. Rocks, sparse weeds, lily pads and man-made structure is where I key on. Here is my list of setups and the colors that do well for me there in spring & summer: Spring: Original Floating Rapala Silver 5 Senko type bait (weightless) Black, Watermelon, Pumpkinseed, Smoke 4 Hand poured worm on a Slider Head jig Dark Purple, Black, Camo Tube Bait Pumpkinseed Soft Plastic Jerkbait (Fluke) White w/black back Summer: Original Floating Rapala Silver 5 Senko type bait (weightless) Black, Watermelon, Green Pumpkin, Purple 7 Senko type bait (weightless) Black, Watermelon, Green Pumpkin, Purple [if there is a cold front, then I go with a 4" wacky rigged instead of the 7"] Rat'L'Trap type bait Silver w/black back (Sunny), Gold w/black back (cloudy) Fat Ika - Green Pumpkin, Black, Watermelon w/red flake Good luck.

Must do Modifications
I write my Name, Cell Phone Number and $10 Reward with a Sharpie on my Lucky Craft Lures, so when someone pulls one out of the trees or bushes, I can get them back for only 60% of the cost to replace them.

Scrap Yard Bound
Thanks for the info guys. I'll look over the forms, and take a look at the boat to see what shape its in and see if it's worth putting the effort into it. I guess if there's no VIN number, the process might be easier. The uncle told me he thinks the weight of the boat is 300 400 pounds, that's where he got the $175 scrap yard estimate. Our family has a place on what was a private lake. The old lake/resort owner breached the dam over fear from the state due to the shape it was in, and the state never did anything to him (breaching the lake the way he did was illegal). Now 13 years later the owners association has taken over the lake and is fixing up the dam, but wants around $10,000 from each lot owner to utilize the lake. The private lake would have been the perfect situation for the boat, but at that price, it ain't gonna happen.

FEMSS
I'm currently writing a paper for my anticipated PHD on a recent phenomenon called Forum Ex-Member Stress Syndrome (FEMSS). It's become a serious emotional matter unique to the internet, and something the United Nations is considering for next year, since they have already committed to the Year of the Potato this year. I'm into the section called EX-MEMBERING: REMORSE, DIVORCE OR TOUR-DE-FORCE, and I'm looking for Internet Forum ex-members to share their post ex-member feelings, good, bad or indifferent. Also, I'm looking for motives that drive people to ex-membering themselves. (Please be advised that I will be using quotes, so no real names please). I know ex-members continue to monitor Internet Forums after leaving, and I'm hoping to capitalize on those inner feelings from some recent forum ex-members or as the saying goes while the coals are still hot. So thank you, and please don't post any gripes to this thread, instead you can e-mail whatever your heart desires to: fourmexmemberstresssyndrome@yahoo.com Also, if you are thinking about ex-membering yourself from any forum in the near future, please put Dear Zely in the subject line, and I will try my best to help you from doing, as we refer to it in the biz as, THE ULTIMATE UNTHINKABLE. FYI, I'm a certified FEMSS mentor. I've just finished the section on TONGUE-IN-CHEEK HUMOR GONE BAD what do you all think?

Scrap Yard Bound
Yesterday, during Easter dinner at my place, my wife's uncle sked if I wanted a 14ft-16ft aluminum boat (he wasn't sure of the size). His next door neighbor picked up and moved to Florida, and told him to take it, which he did. But the guy who moved doesn't want to be hassled with anything to do with it, so I believe titling the thing might be tough (and no, its not hot). Don't even think he knows where the guy moved to. I don't have a need for it, and don't even know if it can be retitled without the original owner here in PA, or what one has to go through to do it. So it looks like the wife's uncle will be taking it to the scrap yard where he thinks he can get about $175 for it by weight. What a waste!

Welcome Spring!!
I'm not as optimistic. I fear we'll miss out on spring this year in the NE, and go right from winter into summer.

tournament question
I've recently seen or heard something mentioned (not sure if it was here), but looking back I would have to agree. It went something like this (as best as I can recollect). When fishing a new lake, find conditions (structure, points, weeds, depth, clarity) in the new lake that are similar to lakes you fish and are comfortable with, and duplicate them with lures you are confident in. It's worked in tournaments for me. Oh yeah... WELCOME!

Discontinued Plastic QUIZ
No, The Lazy Ike Wigly Crawler's metal bill has LAZY IKE stamped into it. And the bill is attached to a painted lead ball and hook. Although the worm does have a nice wobble action when retrieving it. And it surprising how soft the plastic remains after decades sitting in the packaging. There are two exposed hooks, with a thick type cord running from the front hook to the back hook, inside the worm. I have several in the 7 and 4 sizes.

site performance
Glenn, here is a capture of the lower left portion of my screen. My screen at work cannot see your entire page. I don't really see any ads (they are up top outside of my view), but it hangs where almost nothing but the bottom of the thread is seen.

Lunkerville
I rather like Lunkerville, and watch it whenever I see its on. I've followed it for years and think its one of the most honest, down to earth, fishing shows out there. In my opinion, the host really seems like a regular guy, which sure is refreshing to see in a TV fishing show these days.
