  1. Might just be Big Bertha, of it's a Hank, it sure is a big one.
  2. Finally put one in the boat worth sharing, been a few weeks since I was able to do so. After a ton of small 1-2 lbers lately this one felt like 10 LOL. Tipped the scales at 4-12
  3. I have one, I will PM you with some details.
  4. Well, I am patiently (not really) waiting on my Zodias 7'6 MH glass that I am hoping works for those deep cranks. I tried using my 7 M cranking Curado but I think it isn't really suited for anything over about 12 ft or so. Seems to struggle with a 5XD.
  5. Shimano Zodias 6'8 ML with a Stradic ci4 2500 spooled up with 15lb Sufix 832 and if I use a leader it's 8lb Sniper
  6. Hard to say, but guarding fry would be on my short list of guesses.
  7. My picture needed to be updated
  8. Long post warning*** Fishing has been up and down for me lately, some days I catch a lot of numbers and some days I can't buy a bite. In the last 2 weeks or so I haven't been able to boat a fish over 3 lbs out of the numerous that I have caught. My youngest daughter has been asking to go fishing with me on the boat for a few weeks now. Her Mom and I figured she wouldn't really want to go once we got out there so we kind of waited and she seemed like she really wanted to so we ordered her a life jacket. It came in over the weekend and she wore it around the house because she was so excited. She had asked me when we were going and i told her "maybe" we would go Monday. I got up at 5:30 this morning and headed to the lake without her, when her Mom woke her up she was bummed. I told her to tell her I would take her when I got home. I got home about 4:00 and I was exhausted. Well, her grandma brought her home about 4:30 and the first thing she said was "ready to go fishing"? As tired as I was, I said "you bet". I had already got her a spinning rod and reel set up and a small tackle box ready. We met her Mom at the lake and we were off. I was not looking forward to it because I was certain she wouldn't catch anything since I didn't have any minnows or worms for her to use. We got out there and I tied on a little H&H spinner bait and proceeded to show her how to use the spinning reel. I showed her, then I would cast and she would reel. Then she would try it on her own, and I would help. After about 20 min she was all on her own. I told her if she feels a pull or it feels heavy to pull back and reel. She thought she had a fish every time she got caught up in the moss or brush and would say "I got one" LOL. We fished about an hour and I thought she was about to quit. I told her we had one more spot to try. I said this is the "honey hole" because I always catch a fish here. I was fishing off the front deck and she was fishing out of the back. We pulled into the honey hole and were there maybe 5 min and she said "I got one", assuming she was hung up I turned to see her rod bent over and line moving. She really did have one. This is probably the smallest fish I have taken my picture with, but it is my PB to this point. Sorry for the long post.
  9. Just curious, why a twist lock for a senko, trick work, or ol monster? An EWG will work for all of them.
  10. If I've learned anything, it's that there are people out there who don't have a clue what they are doing, have no idea what BR is and probably don't know KVD from PVC, but they are consistently catching all the big bass. Weird.
  11. Sorry it took me so long to reply. I separate them 90% of the time. The only time I don't is if I am fishing them in cold water, say less than 50 degrees and I don't normally throw them unless it is late fall early winter and the water has got cold and I still want to throw a soft plastic in the backs of creeks or something. It may not make a hill of beans to the fish, but it is just something I do.
  12. https://tpwd.texas.gov/newsmedia/releases/?req=20200302a Here's one, there are at least 4 more over 13 that I found through a Google search.
  13. I don't know off the top of my head, lol. Texas' state record is bigger though. Edit* A quick Google search shows a 15.34 caught this year
  14. Don't argue with the ShareLunker program. Hands down the best in the country.
  15. I use the 4" Yo Mama in green pumpkin and have had good success with them texas rigged with a 3/16 or 1/4 oz. I still prefer a sweet beaver, just a confidence thing I think, but for the price they are hard to beat.
  16. Well, first you would have to define "giant", could be a 12 lb channel, a 30 lb blue or a 50 lb flathead. Then it would depend on the line, rod, etc. The drag of a reel is made to be pulled by a fish to keep from breaking your line or ruining the reel. I have a buddy who thinks the drag is made to tighten all the way down and just horse fish in. There are a lot of different factors in play in your scenario so we really can't say for sure what you should have done.
  17. I found the best way to not have to wait on back ordered items, is to not order them. I did it ONE time and after that I refuse to ever do it again.
  18. Especially right now. May be a little bit harder now that things are starting to open back up, but a couple weeks ago it worked well.
  19. 6'10 MH F Shimano Zodias, pulls double duty with spinnerbaits as well.
  20. Just about any cheap reel isn't going to handle heavy braid and pads very well.
  21. Not everyone has Robert Kraft kind of money.
  22. You will love that rod! If for some reason you don't, please PM me if you want to get rid of it.
  23. I've been having luck with a 2.75 finesse TRD because I am trying to mimic goose turds.
  24. I wouldn't buy anything fishing if that is the case.
