  1. You are right it doesn't load like the 723 for 3/8, but I haven't had any trouble with mine. But if you plan on throwing a 1/2 most of tims, its the right stick
  2. That was incredible. Stupid but incredible

    Happy Birthday!
  4. Add a green pumpkin to the list and you will be all set
  5. Because I've been using Spiderwire Ultimate since it came out ...years ago.. and I like it. I've been using it longer than I have been using Sunline products and really never had a reason to change what I'm using. It took me a while to find a floro that I liked... But my opinion is that there are several good braids out there.. I'm content using it. Its a really good line.. it doesn't have a huge following here on BR but I feel that it competes with the other top braids.
  6. Spiderwire Ultimate Braid, Sunline Sniper Floro, Sunline Super Natural Mono, and the cheapest mono I can find for backing.
  7. The thickest cover you can find and the deep water close by is the ticket. Big bass often isolate them selves so keep in mind the isolated cover near by to these areas. I once pitched a brush hog to a single water willow that was standing alone about ten foot away from a large section of water willow and caught a 7lber. I can only imagine what that whopper looked like trying hide behind a single blade of water willow. Don't be affraid of tossing a big bait. And often a jig is my go to. Sometimes we don't think of a 3/8 oz jig and trailer as a big bait, but they do give off a big bulky profile and big fish see it as an opportunity for a big time meal.
  8. 714. I have most of the popular Endurance models ans the 714 is my jig rod. I don't mind putting a 3/8 on the 723...the 725 is an excellent rod for big jigs like 1oz
  9. Cheap plastics that fish well = Bitters Baits. Do a google search. Great stuff very inexpensive. They have more colors than most of the leading brands
  10. Yes sir. For a couple weeks now. Its been really wet in between warm spells.
  11. Endurance 712. I have two of them. Great rod. Good for DS too
  12. UPDATE - after church tonight, I took my little buddy to the Walmart and my tackle shop and helped him pick out some gear with the moneys he earned both from me ans two of my neighbors ( cutting grass, raking leaves, trming bushes) He had a little over 250 with some money he already had. I gave him the option of getting a couple set ups, or one nicer set up and whatever combination with some tackle. He surprised me. He had been looking at the Berkely rods, the convergence and the Sellus rods think he could get two and two cheap reels. He opted for one nicer yet modest combo, and some tungsten weights, hooks, and a couple 3700 boxes to put some of the plastics, jigs, and old crankbaits that I gave him from my personal stash. So what did he walk out with? A Shimanio Clarus 6'8mh xf casting rod 79.99 and a Lews Tournament MG that was on clearance for 104.99. I gave him a spool of Mono to put on it while he continues to learn baitcasters. Very proud of the young man.
  13. I don't think Jacksn will go that route
  14. I hate seeing players other than kickers wear the number 1. I hated the choice when cam chose it
  15. I don't have a dog in this fight,... But... Fun fact, both Jackson ans Griffin III wear the number 10 . I pretty sure Griffin isn't coming off of it. I wonder what number Jackson will be.
  16. Hootie, to me it depends on the rod. Both of my designated jig rods are 4 power rods thay are labled Heavy. I like a xf rod 1/4-3/4 or 1oz. My main concern is a rod that will load well and have the ability to skip, sling, or pitch a jig with a low trajectory. I'm not as concerned with weather it a MH or H, or how strong it is as long as it is at least a MH( I say this because we all know there is no true standard) I use braid on those rods and the fact that there is no stretch is gonna help me get q good hook set and drive that hook home even if it is a true MH. I am lucky that the Powell 714 and my new DX 704 have those qualities. I have best of both worlds with those rods, they both load well enough with 3/8 or 1/2 so I can put those jigs where I want them and I still have power to fish the jigs around trees in 16Fow with hydrilla everywhere. I had an old Daiwa T Rod that I sold to JHoffman, that was a 7'MH that I really liked... So like is said, it all depends on the rod. As for a T rigs, I really like a M or MH. The Powell 723 is labeled MH but it feels and handles like a M or a Mag Medium. I don't go really heavy with the soft plastics and if I do, its on a flipping stick which is a 7'6+ H
  17. Can't go wrong with a super duty
  18. The only Lews I have not used are the Team Gold, and the BB1 pro and the BB2
  19. Team Lews Pro is my favorite. Its super light, and built pretty tough. Great for medium action rods and throwing baits that are pretty light or weightless plastics. Reel is silky smooth. I have a Core reel ans the Team Pro gives it a good run for its money. It falls short of the core but is a much better value Compared to the Core. Drawback is the price tag compared to the tourney pro and superduty, which are also great reels. Tied for second is the Tourney Pro ans the Super Duty. The Tp is light. It balances great on almost all modern ML-MH rods. I love the dual braking system. It really is dummy proof. I've used mine for almost three years and they are still going strong. Super Duty is a little heavier but still is at a great weight for such a beast reel. If you prefer mag breaks and don't need a 6.5 oz reel, then this one is amazing. Strong, hold a good amount of line, can tie direct with braid and casts well.
  20. I don't bash either group. Sure I've seen both extremes. I've seen tin boaters with Berkley Lightning Rods run the tables on a tourney series and Ive seen guys with gear that is high end and are so lost that a compass couldn't help them. And I've seen the reverse. Alot of times, its a case of sour grapes.. sometimes its a since of arrogance because you know your heart that your a great angler and don't feel like u need to spend 900 per combo. Im never gonna bbash a guy for how he spends his money. Besides I don't have time to worry about another's gwar or how he fishes.
  21. Call Mike at Siebert Outdoors. He will set you up right. NorthStar also had high quality jigs. I'm still stocked with a lot of Dirtys from two years ago as I didn't fish as much last year. But my next stock up will be with Mike
